This document summarizes a presentation on collaboration between school and public libraries in Portugal to promote information literacy education. It discusses three examples of partnerships between these institutions. The key points are:
1) School and public libraries in Portugal are increasingly recognizing they share common goals around information literacy education and need to work together to achieve them.
2) Successful partnerships depend on addressing the needs of the local community. Recent projects show libraries collaborating on resources, training, and digital tools to improve information literacy.
3) A national school library network has promoted collaboration between these institutions since 1996 through local networks, and information literacy is becoming an important focus of their joint work.
