The students visited the Antalya Environment Department and a sorting center in Manavgat Municipality to learn about environmental issues. At the Environment Department, engineers informed them about water pollution and recycling, and that Antalya has high rates of wastewater treatment and clean beaches. They were advised to properly dispose of batteries, spread awareness, and recycle. At the sorting center, they observed the difficult process of separating garbage and learned that packages, plastics, metals, glass and paper can all be recycled.

2. Antalya Environment Department We visited Antalya Environment Department with our English teacher on 2nd March to get some information about environmental issues. They welcomed us hospitably and tried to answer our questions. Four expert environment engineers informed us especially about water pollution and the importance of recycling .

4. Manavgat Municipality and Sorting Center On 8th March we visited Manavgat Municipality. They told us about the duties of the municipality on saving the environment.Then, we went to a sorting center and observed how they make an effort to sort the garbage.

5. Visiting the Sorting Center was a great experince for us. Although it smelt bad, it made us realize lots of facts. There were some men dealing with seperating the rubbish. It must be really hard to do. They are standing all day in a bad smelling place and using their physical power.

What we learned... * Packages are not rubbish , they can be recycled. * Plastic wastes turn into textile products,water pipes and floor covering. * Metal wastes can be reused as raw materials . * Glass wastes turn into new glass packages and souvenirs. * Paper and cardboard wastes can be reused again as papers and cardboards.
