We want to take seriously this idea that there is a mission that God has invited us into, which we define very simply as “helping people find their way to God."
When questioned by Pharisees about the greatest commandment, Jesus responds that the greatest is to love God with all one's heart, soul, and mind. The second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus says that following these two commandments fulfills the whole of Jewish law and prophecy. Loving God means making him the focus of one's entire being. Loving neighbors requires a supernatural ability to feel what others feel and put their needs first, which can only come through living according to the Spirit rather than human nature.
This document discusses how to deal with worry based on Matthew 6:24-34. It explains that we should not serve both God and money. We should place our lives in God alone as our Heavenly Father cares for us. We are told not to be anxious about what we will eat, drink or wear but to instead seek first God's kingdom and righteousness. The document concludes that we should not worry about tomorrow and instead live each day for God.
This document outlines Bethesda M.B. Church's 2012 budgeting process with the theme of "The Year of Ministry". It provides the church's mission and purpose statements, which focus on proclaiming teachings, educating through study, and expressing caring ministry. The pastor's vision is to equip saints for service to God, church and community. The 3 elements of ministry are love/outreach, study, and service. Church auxiliaries are asked to evaluate how their ministries fulfill the mission/purpose and relate to the pastor's vision, and to set goals and budget amounts for accomplishing goals within each ministry element in 2012.
The document discusses the importance of building strong relationships, particularly relationships within a congregation. It notes that Christians should love God and love their neighbors, and that within a congregation, believers are fellow citizens, heirs, workers, servants, and soldiers. The document also provides statistics about how people spend their time, with very little spent attending church services or with other Christians. It encourages Christians to stir one another up by spending more time together, being of the same mind, working for Christ's cause, loving one another, and supporting one another as the early church did.
This study is designed to encourage those struggling with life to understand that the Christian life a process of growth into likeness of the character of Jesus Christ. This growth involves pushing through tough times but these are used for God and our good to put on display the love and graciousness of God. The result is the fulfillment of His promise of a glorious eternal inheritance worthy of all that we have to endure for the sake of Christ.
Solomon had great wealth and opportunities but was not satisfied or fulfilled. Even having everything we could want would not necessarily make us happy. The greatest commandments are to love God with all our being and love others. We are warned that desires can lead us away from God if we love anything more than him. God wants us to shift from living self-centered lives to living God-centered lives focused on him and others. He accomplishes this by revealing Jesus, who is more worthy of our love and inspires a love that can transform us.
God is the highest order. The document outlines the biblical importance of prioritizing God above all else, including one's spouse and children. The second highest order discussed is the institution of marriage, which God created and calls mankind to uphold. Within marriage, the spouse is the third highest order or priority, followed by children as the fourth highest order. The purpose of understanding this biblical order is to ensure that all relationships and aspects of one's life are structured to first honor and obey God above all else.

This document discusses Jesus' teaching on the greatest commandment from the Bible. It summarizes Jesus saying that the greatest commandments are to love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. It argues that loving your neighbor as yourself is the ultimate teaching on equality, and that not doing so is a form of inequality. It then provides additional commentary on these commandments and what it means to truly love God and others.
1) Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. The second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself.
2) Loving God and others is more important than religious sacrifices and rituals.
3) As a community, we are supposed to love God and love our neighbors.
This document discusses the nature of love according to God. It states that God is love, and that in order to become like God, people cannot separate what love "is" and what it "does." It provides many Bible verses that define love, such as having patience and kindness, not being jealous or boastful, and protecting, trusting, and hoping in others. It emphasizes that love is the fulfillment of God's commandments and that Christians are called to love God, their neighbors, and themselves.
This document discusses the commandment to love God and others. It contrasts the "old commandment" to love your neighbor as yourself with Jesus' "new commandment" to love one another as He has loved us. It emphasizes that truly knowing God involves having a saving relationship with Him through faith and obedience to His commandments to love Him and others.
Jesus was sure of the greatest commandmentsGLENN PEASE
This is a study of Jesus being sure of the greatest commandments. To love God supremely and to love your neighbor as yourself are, He said, the two greatest commandments. All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.
This document contains "lifelines" or short phrases of wisdom about life, followed by Bible passages from Jesus, Paul, and others. It discusses the importance of relationships, with graphics showing proper relationships with God and others versus idolatry and conflict. Jesus says the two greatest commandments are to love God and neighbor. The document encourages examining one's lifestyle to prioritize relationships over other things and ensure love for people is less than love for God. It suggests loving neighbors unconditionally and that doing so will result in being Christ-like with strong relationships that attract others to the church.
The document provides times of services for the Haynes Street church of Christ on Sundays and Wednesdays, including Bible classes at 9:30 AM and 7 PM and worship at 10:30 AM on Sundays. It then welcomes people to the church.
July 23 2017 - Midyear RE-VISITATION OF OUR VISIONCatherine Lirio
This document outlines the vision of Jesus Christ, which is to save the world and make disciples of all nations. It discusses how Jesus called 12 disciples to love God, save the world, and make more disciples. It also presents the "G12 Vision" strategy of accomplishing this through winning people to faith, consolidating them into local churches, discipling them, and sending them out to lead others. Finally, it says all disciples must be caught by this vision and do God's will for their lives, undergoing the four steps of winning, consolidating, discipling and sending others to successfully complete the task Jesus gave.
1. Jesus teaches that the greatest commandment is to love God with all your being and to love your neighbor as yourself. The whole of the law and prophets depend on these two commandments of love.
2. Loving God and others with our whole self reveals the distinct yet inseparable nature of loving God and our neighbor. Love is the source and fulfillment of the law.
3. The New Law instituted by Jesus is the law of love, grace, and freedom. It sets us free from rigid observance and inclines us to spontaneous acts of charity through faith and the sacraments.
This document discusses the purpose, vision, and foundational pursuits of building a dynamic community church. It emphasizes loving God with one's whole being through personal devotion and corporate worship. It also stresses loving one's brothers through building relationships. Finally, it addresses fulfilling the great commission through evangelism and intentional discipleship within the church community. The goal is to equip believers to make disciples and impact others' lives as they mature in their own faith.
24th November 2016 - Loving God - Is it an emotion, feeling, or a decisionThorn Group Pvt Ltd
1) Loving God is primarily a decision rather than an emotion, as God commands believers to love Him with all their heart, soul, strength and mind.
2) While feelings of love for God may accompany this decision, they are not the basis of love for God, which stems from His love for humanity as demonstrated through sending Jesus.
3) Believers can grow in their love for God by spending time with Him through prayer and studying who He is, as revealed in the Bible, which allows them to appreciate His attributes like wisdom, truth and righteousness.
Loving others is difficult for several reasons. First, we are all inherently selfish due to sin, and it is easier to love ourselves than others. Second, we often misunderstand love as an emotion rather than self-sacrificial action. True love, as modeled by God sacrificing His Son for humanity, requires sacrifice even when others are unlovable. Finally, trying to love in our own strength leads to hypocrisy; we can only love as God enables us through His Spirit. Loving difficult people allows God's power to be displayed through us and His glory to be seen by the world.
This document discusses the importance of love according to the Bible. It begins by asking questions about love songs and what the Bible says about love. It then discusses the greatest commandment to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. It also discusses the importance of loving others, including other Christians and non-Christians. It emphasizes that faith without works is dead, and that our love for God and others should be shown through our actions. It concludes by asking discussion questions about who is most difficult to love and how to put faith into action through love.
The document discusses growing in one's relationship with God and others through spiritual maturity. It begins by referencing two biblical passages about loving God and one's neighbor. It then outlines four relationships to invest in: with God, family, church family, and those outside one's family. Several biblical passages are cited that encourage craving spiritual nourishment to grow in salvation, being like Christ in serving others, and distinguishing good from evil through constant spiritual training rather than remaining infants dependent on milk.
Perfect love is essential for revival, spiritual gifts, and God's kingdom to operate properly. The greatest commandment is to love God and others. Perfect love casts out fear and is the opposite of hate. Christians must abide in God's perfect love by knowing and obeying his word to experience his miracles, freedom, and victory over the world.
This document discusses the importance of overflowing love, growing in biblical knowledge, and growing in understanding. It emphasizes that we should pray for our love to overflow more and more towards God and others. True growth in biblical knowledge leads to holiness through obeying God's word out of love. Growing in understanding involves developing discernment through applying biblical morals and ethics to our decisions and actions. The document encourages meditation on overflowing love, seeking ways to apply God's word, and embracing God's absolute standards.
This document presents several Bible passages about love, especially love for children and others. The passages discuss love as patient and kind; not envious or boastful; bearing all things and enduring all things; and being the greatest of faith, hope and love. They encourage walking in love, serving one another in love, loving neighbors and enemies, and loving as God first loved us through sending Jesus. The overall message is about showing unconditional love, forgiveness and compassion for others as commanded by God.

1. The document discusses how love is the central message of Christianity according to 1 John. True followers of Christ demonstrate love for one another, as loving others is evidence that one belongs to God.
2. It explores how hate is defined as murder by Jesus and John, and contrasts the loving nature of God with the hateful nature of the world. Christians must demonstrate radical love like Christ by laying down their lives for others.
3. Loving others in deed, not just word, is how Christians walk as Jesus walked. Indifference to the needs of others would contradict God's loving nature. True faith motivates Christians to acts of love.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.

Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.

Vision 2018: Helping People Find Their Way To God
1.
2.
3. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to
share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as
well.
- 1 Thessalonians 2:8
4. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great
and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall
love your neighbor as yourself. On these two
commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
- Matthew 22:37-40
6. What does it mean to LOVE someone?
Actively seek his/her GOOD.
7. What does it mean to LOVE someone?
Actively seek his/her GOOD.
Critical Question: Are you seeking the good in the people
around you?
8. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down
his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our
brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions
and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on
them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear
children, let us not love with words or speech but with
actions and in truth.
- 1 John 3:16-18
9. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to
share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as
well.
