1. To configure NTP on VM host servers, log into the host, go to Time Configuration, add the NTP server IP under Options, select Restart NTP server, and enable NTP Client. 2. To prevent VMs from syncing time with the host, locate the .vmx file for the powered-off VM, edit it to add lines disabling time synchronization, save and power on the VM. 3. On the VM, stop the NTP server from starting on boot to avoid time synchronization.

1. VM Machine NTP configuration
Normal Servers( Except RNG) like lb, rng, web :

2. 1. Login to the Host Server, Then go to
configuration -- > Time configuration
2. Now you need to configure NTP server,
Time configuration --- > properties
Then , click “Options Tab” to set the NTP server IP.

3. Options --- > NTP settings --- > click “Add”
It will prompt pop up window to enter the NTP server IP. Once entered the IP, click
“OK”
Once add the IP, select “ Restart NTP server to apply changes “ check box also.
4. ) now start the NTP server,
Left site panel, Select “ General “ options.
5. ) Once done, Click ok. Then , enable “ NTP Client Option,

6. ) Once you click OK, it will start the NTP server.
Note : It will take minimum 5 mins to sync the Host time with NTP server.
NTP Server setup in RNG servers :
1. Occasionally , sometimes vmtools will sync the VM machine time with Host even if you
stop the preiodic sync option.
2. So we need to avoind it by doing some changes in the VM machine .vmx file.
For that, you need to have Host machine SSH access.
Note : Bofore proceeding, You need to shutdown that VM machine
1. Once you logged into the Host server, locate .vmx file for the appropriate VM machine.

5. 2. ) Once you open the vmInverntory.xml file, you can identify your VM machine .vmx file
location.
3. ) Just , open that .vmx file via vi editor and add the following line ,
tools.syncTime = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.continue = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.restore = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.resume.disk = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.shrink = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.tools.startup = "FALSE"
4.) Then, save that file and Power ON the VM machine.
5.) Stop the NTP server in on boot in your VM machine.
6.) Hereafter, the VM machine doesn't sync with any server.
