Victor Sheverda | Assistant Project Manager - Construction Management | Larkspur, CO
1. Biography of Victor Sheverda
Victor Sheverda, an Assistant Project Manager from Parker, Colorado, has a deep passion for
the construction industry. What drives him professionally is the sense of accomplishment in
executing a residential or commercial building project from start to finish. But what motivates
him personally is the realization that a once empty piece of land or vacant high-rise floor will
now be a home or business with tenants who will go on to accomplish their own success stories.
He always knew he would enter the construction industry, a profession where he could use both
his hands and identify ways of adding value and seeking means of improving efficiency. Even
more important, he comes from a family whose parents owned their own construction business.
During his years at Colorado State University as a construction management major, he was
heavily involved in the school's Design-Build Institute Of America (DBIA) chapter and served in
leadership roles, including president. He was also vital to the construction management
department's Integrated Project Delivery ASC Competition Team. This is a graduate-level
competition where teams from universities across the Rocky Mountain region individually
compete to solve real construction management problems, which they then compile into a
proposal and present to a panel of industry judges within a limited time frame.
2. Vik Sheverda's goal is to continue in the construction industry and obtain certifications, including
Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), leading to a career
as a Construction Project Manager. As Project Manager, he looks forward to overseeing entire
construction projects and possibly launching his Project Management consulting firm to aid in
the success of individuals and businesses.
It is not by slight coincidence that Sheverda chose construction as his professional career. As a
young man, he worked in the family's construction company, which specialized in custom-spec
residential homes using ICF (Insulated Concrete Form). This highly specialized method of
residential construction offers the homeowner greater energy efficiency and more protection
from natural cataclysms, mold, mildew, and pest infestation.
Victor has always pushed himself to perform at a higher level of competency, even volunteering
to take on extra challenges. His work ethic and persistence for excellence were likely formed
during his early school years when he excelled as a skilled tennis player. He won multiple tennis
awards, including a First-year Varsity Letterman at Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New
Mexico, followed by an additional Three-year Varsity Letterman at Cherokee Trail High School.
At the same time, he, a student at Cherokee Trail, and three tennis peers made history for the
high school by being the first Regional Champions out of the 5A Region to partake in the Boy's
Tennis State Championship on October 3, 2013. He went on to qualify one more time in the Fall
of 2014 until graduating in the Spring of 2015 while being on the Principal Honor Roll while
taking Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
3. As a child, he grew up in Hawaii for ten years, gaining a deep appreciation for the beauty of
nature that still guides him today. He believes in sustainable construction practices that offer
low-carbon alternatives and are eco-friendly. This made him want to identify ways to harness
energy from redundant movement. While working on his studies at Colorado State University, he
conducted a research proposal regarding the implementation of Piezoelectric Tiles along
sections throughout The Plaza, a central location for high traffic, to harness the kinetic energy of
students and faculty walking.
In 2015, Vik started his post-secondary education as a Civil Engineering student at the
University of Colorado Boulder. However, he knew he desired to work in the field where he
could plan, coordinate, and control all phases of the construction process from inception to
completion.
In 2020, Victor Sheverda graduated from Colorado State University's Bachelor of Science in
Construction Management program with a 3.78 GPA. He was a member of the Sigma Lambda
Chi Honor Society for Construction. CSU is the only CM program in Colorado accredited by the
American Council for Construction Education.
It is also one of the top-recognized programs in the country, with many of its graduates going on
to be leaders in the construction industry. Vik was so committed to his academics and the CM
program that he achieved recognition by being on the Dean's List for five consecutive
semesters.
4. Victor is an Assistant Project Manager at i2 Construction in Parker, CO. The company - initially
focused on corporate interior build-outs from its inception in 1999 by founder Allan Fries - has
expanded its expertise to include a wide array of design-build services and custom tenant
interiors, along with ground-up projects in various sectors ranging from headquarters, law firms,
medical facilities, museums, daycares and more. His role entails assisting the project manager
and superintendent with all phases of construction management, from contractor bidding/award,
procurement, and schedule management to project budgeting and change management, while
engaging and communicating with key stakeholders.
Before his tenure at i2 construction, he was a construction estimator for Saunders Construction,
a Denver-based General Contractor for commercial real estate development. Here, he was
tasked with determining the financial scope of projects and generating bid tabs for subcontractor
scopes. He also served as a Project Engineer for Saunders on many notable projects, including
building a sewer-heat recovery system for the National Western Center Complex. This heat
recovery system is the largest in North America and generates 90% of the campus' heating and
cooling energy.
Before graduating from college, Victor spent three consecutive summers as an Intern with Kiewit
Building Group. He was privileged to work at Market Station in downtown Denver's heart. The
building included mixed-use commercial space, office, and market-rate apartments spanning an
entire city block while being built around an active historic building - the Regional Transportation
District (RTD) Headquarters.
His most memorable internship was in 2019. While working at the United States Capitol building
in Washington D.C., he worked to restore and preserve the historical features of the exterior
stone and metal of the Capitol Building along the House of Representatives wing. This unique
opportunity was an honor and privilege to proudly restore the building for the American people,
which is a true sentiment to the foundation of our nation.
5. Vik actively seeks ways to contribute to his community. While in college, he actively engaged in
his department's volunteer program, CM Cares. A program for CM students in their last year of
undergrad to implement construction management knowledge and intertwine it to improve a
home for a member of the community with disabilities. This learning program boosts leadership,
team building, and ethics skills by involving CM students in construction-related projects to
improve the lives of others.
Habitat for Humanity is a charity in which Vik Sheverda actively participated, where he helped
other volunteers renovate homes for disadvantaged families. He feels this is one of the best
ways to use his professional skills and construction knowledge to help his community.
In addition, Victor has volunteered with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and developed a
newfound joy about wildlife conservation and habitat preservation. The fulfilling experience of
giving back to the environment and ensuring the future of elk and other wildlife is matched by
the camaraderie and sense of purpose shared among volunteers. This is not just about making
a difference; it's about being part of a community that values sustainability and the great
outdoors.
Victor Sheverda enjoys hiking through the pristine wilderness of Colorado, including summiting
14ers in his spare time. To traverse longer distances, he rides his Can-AM ATV through the
public trails and passes throughout Colorado, which was a childhood dream of his. He is also
enthusiastic and a self-driven learner about Information Security and Python coding to harness
the potential of AI technology and how this and other emerging digital platforms might influence
how physical and digital structures are built. He is still an athlete and practices Brazilian Jiu-jitsu,
boxing, skiing, and weight lifting.
