Via is Auggie's older sister who is protective of him. She struggles with balancing popularity at school with supporting her brother, who has facial abnormalities. While initially seeing Auggie as normal, she comes to understand how others perceive him differently after spending time away from home. Via is a major, static but round character who plays a key role in explaining her family and point of view in the story.

Via is a major character because we know a lot about her and her family. We know
a lot about her because she is talked about by other characters throughout the
story, Via also has her own chapter explaing her point of view through the story.

Via is a static character because she doesn't really change, Via is very protective
over August. She hates when people make mean faces or call him mean
names,the only time she changed is when she came back from her grandmas and
saw august how everyone else does.

Via is a round character because, she thinks that August looks normal because
she see’s August different than other people. Via is very organized and thinks
clearly.
