Terms to Describe Student-Alumni Engagement by Benedictine UniversityJohn Knific
Three years ago, Director of Alumni Engagement Trente Arens was charged with creating 'B.U.M.P', the Benedictine University Mentorship Program. Immediately, the one on one, a year-long program presented challenges scaling beyond a few dozen students. The experience lead her team to ask, what really is mentoring?
Leveraging Wisr Beyond Mentorship at Cedarville UniversityJohn Knific
In her role as Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving, Stephanie Carroll wanted to bring the gap between alumni relations and career services, using these bridges:
1. Common Thought from Alumni: “We want to help the students”
2. Looking for a mentorship program that wouldn’t require a lot of staff time
3. Increase Alumni Affinity and Engagement
4. A desire to not have our alumni on multiple platforms

Building a school culture around core values is an ongoing story we write with many forks in the road. Those decision points sometimes take us deeper into the work, at other times come to a resting point or double back to find the main track. During our four year partnership with IGE, the Catherine Cook School in Chicago has built a vehicle with endurance that is always taking us someplace new. Trace our journey, explore some of the byways and plan your own new paths. This interactive session will include a look at structures we repeat from year to year that keep us heading in the right direction, even if we don't always know where we'll end up.
Building workshops already delivered to headteachers from Stirling, South Ayrshire, and Glasgow, the objective of this taster session is to introduce an approach which enables: greater understanding of what we mean by values and ethical decision-making - recognition that shared values can improve the culture and ethos of schools - heightened awareness of how values can impact positively on all our lives.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
