2. Vaasthu means..
Science of construction, architecture, a traditional
Hindu system of design based on directional
alignments.
3. Origin of Vaasthu
Vaasthu came into the world through Vedas and it is
Yajurveda. It contains information on design of
houses, temples and other buildings.
In ancient times Maya and Viswakarma were the two
chief architects known for their intelligent creations
of palaces, temples, forts etc..
4. Origin of Vaasthu
Maya built palaces, forts, temples, Agnivedikas, etc. for
Rakshasas.
Viswakarma, who lived during Mahabharatha created
wonderful buildings for the Pandavas and Kauravas.
Many ancient cities like Dwaraka, Indraprastha are
believed to be built by him.
5. Early Works of Vaasthu
The first official treatise on Vaasthu, the Kasyapa Silpa
has been attributed to sage Kasyapa.
In the treatise, Agama Shasthra, which explains the
science of temples, Vaasthu is considered the basis for
any type of construction.
6. Vaastu Tells About..
Proper orientation and planning of property to get
maximum benefits of a well balanced cosmic, solar,
natural and man-controlled energies.
It also describes the ways to obtain protection from
negative energies.
7. Fundamental of Vaasthu
Draw a diagonal line to
connect the north-western
and the south-eastern
corners of your plot. Now it
has two triangles - one in
north-east and another in
south-west. The north-
eastern triangle is known as
the Sun region, while the
one is south-west is known
as the Moon region.
8. Fundamental of Vaasthu
Sun region should be light while in the Moon
region, it should be heavy, so that the Moon
region could have more weight. Thickness of the
walls also should be less in the Sun region than
those in the Moon region. The sun is rather mild
in the morning, so the thin walls in the north and
the east will allow the house to harness its
goodness fully. But as the day progresses, the sun
intensifies. From noon till evening, the sun is
most intense. So the thick walls in the south and
the west protect the inmates from the harmful
effects of the intense sun all throughout afternoon
session.
9. What are 8 directional areas?
According to Vaastu, there are 5 basic elements in the
whole world. They are the Earth, Water, Air, Fire
(Heat & Light) and Sky (Cosmic). Vaastu is a science
of balancing these elements in the proper proportions
for prosperity and harmony. In a broader sense vaastu
is a science of directions and it accounts for 8
directions; North, South, East, West, North-East,
North-West, South-East and South-West.
13. About the four corners or quarters
The North-East Quarter is called Isanya. the South-East
Agneya, the South-West Niruthi and North West
Vayuvya. These are said to possess the four gods Isa,
Agni, Niruthi and Vayu respectively. Accordingly, with
due respect to ecological friendliness with the subtle
forces of the spirit, those spaces are assigned as follows.
16. Conclusion
So, dear friends (the upcoming Civil Engineers), it is the
vaasthu. Nowadays, irrespective of the religion all are
following vaasthu. In fact, a civil engineer with
knowledge of vaasthu leads his career in an excellent
way, particularly in the construction of Residential
houses, Offices, Apartments, Factories etc. Hope this
presentation will help you for such a bright career of
