Disinfectants play an important role in health careassociated
infection control by either minimizing or preventing
microorganism dissemination. This article to study the
morphological changes which may be related to the lose of
antibiotic resistance after disinfectant exposure using SEM.
Showed all isolates resistant to ampicillin, amoxicillin, cloxacillin,
cephalexin, tetracycline, doxycycline, rifampin, chloramphenicol,
trimethoprim cefotaxime and erythromycin, while one of burn
isolates was susceptible for gentamicin, chloramphenicol and
trimethoprim, and 15 of burn, 6 of wound, 5 of ear, and all urine
isolates were susceptible to gentamicin using Kirby-Bauer
method.
The MICs of four common in use disinfectants (Hexatane,
Dettol, Savlon and Povidone – Iodine) were determined for all
isolates. The results showed that the MICs of Hexatane ranged
from (64–512) µg/ml, Dettol (2048–16384) µg/ml,
Savlon (4096:40960)–(32768:327680) µg/ml and for Povidone –
Iodine MICs were (8192–32768) µg/ml. It has been found that
burn and urine isolates were more resistant to disinfectants than
wound and ear isolates. According to the effect of subMICs of
disinfectants at different exposure patterns on antibiotic
resistance, the results showed lose of resistance to tetracycline,
doxycycline, rifampin, chloramphenicol, cefotaxime and
trimethoprim in %72, %72, %68, %22, %28 and %36 of isolates,
respectively. The results of SEM micrograph showed normal
morphology and small sized bacteria with nub formation on some
of them when exposed to dettol, and shape changes in cells with
bulging in exposed to Povidone-iodine, while elongation and
deformation were recorded in some cells in exposed to
Savlon(chlorohexidine/ cetrimide) and Hexatane (chlorohexidine/
gluconate), respectively.

Irradiation technology is widely used in scientific as well as commercial applications in the field of agriculture and animal science, pharmaceuticals and medical science etc. Food Irradiation involves treating certain types of foods with ionizing energy or radiation. Radiation processing of food strengthens food conservation, improves food hygiene and helps food exports overcome quarantine barriers. It facilitates packing, storage, transport and distribution of foods.It is the process of exposing food to ionizing radiation(x-rays, gamma rays ,electron Beams) to destroy microorganisms , bacteria , viruses , or insects that might be present in the food. The measurement of radiation dose is referred to as dosimetry, and involves exposing dosimeters jointly with the treated food item. Dosimeters are small components attached to the irradiated product made of materials that, when exposed to ionizing radiation change specific, measurable physical attributes to a degree that can be correlated to the dose received.
1.Electron irradiation
Electron irradiation uses electrons accelerated in an electric field to a velocity close to the speed of light.
Electrons are particulate radiation and, hence have cross section many times larger than photons, so that they do not penetrate the product
beyond a few inches, depending on product density.
Electron facilities rely on substantial concrete shields to protect workers and the environment from radiation exposure.
2.Gamma irradiation :
Gamma radiation is a part of electromagnetic spectrum .The radiation is obtained through the use of radioisotopes, generally cobalt-60 or caesium-137 Presently, caesium-137 is used only in small hospital units to treat blood before transfusion to prevent Graft-versus-host disease.
Food irradiation using Cobalt-60 is the preferred method by most processors, because the deeper penetration enables administering treatment to entire industrial pallets or totes, reducing the need for material handling.
3.X-ray irradiation :
Similar to gamma radiation, X-rays are photon radiation of a wide energy spectrum and an alternative to isotope based irradiation systems
X-ray irradiators are scalable and have deep penetration comparable to Co-60. They also permit dose uniformity.
Nominal X-ray energy is usually limited to 5 MeV.
USA has provisions for up to 7.5 MeV, which increases conversion efficiency
On the basis of the dose of radiation the application is generally divided into three main categories as detailed under:

Ultraviolet disinfection is an attractive tool for treating water and eliminating pathogens with safe and available technology especially in developing countries where waterborne diseases cause the death of thousands of people every year. Even though UV is an easy tool to perform disinfection, concerns over the potential of microorganism reactivation constitute an issue for its development. In order to avoid this phenomenon, estimating the right dose of UV irradiance, the number of viable microorganisms and the sufficient contact time are important parameters to consider when performing UV disinfection. For this purpose, it’s current to use mathematical modelling. This work aimed to study the modelling of the kinetic of water disinfection by UV irradiation. Two kinetic models (Chick-Watson and Hom) were tested as to ability to scale disinfection of Gram negative Escherichia coli and Gram positive Lactobacillus Helveticus by different ultraviolet (UV) light inactivation process: UV alone, UV and TiO2 as a photocatalyst and finally UV and ZnO as a photocatalyst. The two tested models (Chick-Watson and Hom) fitted the kinetic of disinfection of E. coli. However, it must be noticed that, the simple agreement between experimental data and model predictions does not necessarily prove that either of the models is mechanistically correct. For the disinfection of L. Helveticus, neither of the two models fitted the experimental plots. The divergence existing between experimental and modelling results proves only that the empirical models can’t be generalized to all deactivated microorganisms.

A sample of twenty-five pineapple which has been used five healthy pineapple and five altered were used for the isolation of microorganisms and fifteen healthy pineapples were used for other tests. The main agents Fungal spoilage isolated pineapple fruit in this work were Aspergillus sp., Rhizopus sp., Fusarium sp., And Candida sp. The pathogenicity tests also confirmed that the isolated fungal strains are responsible for the pineapple fruit rotting. The tests antagonists conducted in the presence of B. subtilis GA1 against fungi isolated showed inhibition rate of 81.2% for Aspergillus sp (s), 69% for Aspergillus sp (a), 64% for Rhizopus sp., and 57.14% for Fusarium sp. protection tests on fruits from biomass of B. subtilis GA1 helped preserve fruits over a period of fourteen (14) days with no mushrooms in the heart of the fruit. The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

UVC has been used in food processing for over 50 years to
disinfect water and air, treat wastewater, and decontaminate
surfaces.
Research studies cite the efficacy of UVC light in managing
disease/pathogen mitigation through direct germicidal
activity as well as the through the indirect ability to induce
defense responses in plants.
For many species, it has also been shown to up-regulate plant
metabolites (decreasing need for growth regulators ) when
applied pre-harvest, resulting in:

3. UVC in Food Processing: Research
Conventional food safety technologies (thermal processing & pasteurization, cold plasma processing,
radiofrequency heating, pulsed electric fields, etc.) have been studied extensively for application in the
food industry, but they often alter physical and nutritional properties of food.
The US FDA's HACCP, Health Canada, and European Union have approved the use of UV light for
pathogenic control in many food industries already. And recent advances in engineering and
the practical development UVC LEDs (i.e. advances in semiconductor development) has led to novel
UVC-based tools with optimized intensity and better penetrability in food systems and products.
UVC LEDs offer a solution free of the undesirable characteristics (overheating, high energy costs, high
heat emission, warm-up times, risk of mercury contamination, limited control of wavelength emissions,
limited form factors, etc.) of traditional UVC sources (low-medium-pressure mercury lamps).
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, an estimated one-
third of food produced globally is lost or wasted each year. This includes losses at the different
stages of the food supply chain - including on-farm, harvest, processing, storage, transportation - with
majority of losses occurring due to inadequate storage conditions. UVC - especially LEDs - can be
utilized at every step of the food supply chain.

4. UVC and E. coli
UVC has been proven to cause significant damage in the cytoplasmic
membrane and other cellular enzyme activity on E. coli.
UVC reduces airborne E. coli significantly (over 99.87% and 99.95%).
Research has shown UVC can effectively reduce E. coli on fruit and
berry surfaces.
Surface characteristics influence reduction amounts.
UVC reduced E. coli on apple surfaces more effectively than treatment
with pre-ozonated water spray.
E. coli was reduced by UVC approx. 95% on fresh cut apples.
UVC treatment of both apple skin and lettuce leaf surfaces achieved log
reductions consistent with those observed during sodium hypochlorite
washing.
Immersing apples in UVC irradiated water also significantly
decreased bacteria.
The 5-log reduction required by the FDA has been achieved with UVC
treatment of apple juice, pear juice and green juices.
UVC had no effect on the pH, total soluble solid content, viscosity,
chlorophyll content, or color of the green juices.
UVC showed greater germicidal efficacy (reducing E. coli to
undetectable limits) as a disinfection method of fresh cut cauliflower
than chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, or ozone.

5. A one-minute UVC treatment reduced a mixed-culture biofilm (E.Coli, Salmonella, Listeria) on
lettuce by 1.45, 1.35 (over 90%) and 2.12 (just over 99%) log, respectively.
On aquaponics grown lettuce inoculated with E.Coli, UV treatment proved effective by
showing no internalized coliforms or E.Coli on the lettuce.
UVC reduced E. coli on surface of beef, chicken and pork by 10-log (99.99999999%).
UVC and UVC in combination with ozone treatment reduced pathogen and aerobic bacteria
populations on the surfaces of fresh beef.
UVC was found to significantly inactive E. coli on kasher cheese.
