A Framework for Optimizing the Process of Energy Harvesting from Ambient RF S...IJECEIAES
Energy harvesting has been an active research topic in the past half a decade with respect to wireless networks. We reviewed some of the recent techniques towards improving energy harvesting performance to find that there is a large scope of improvement in terms of optimization and addressing problems pertaining to low-powered communicating mobile nodes. Therefore, we present a framework for identifying available RF sources of energy and constructing a robust link between the energy source and the mobile device. We apply linear optimization approach to enhance the performance of energy harvesting. Probabilility theory is used for identification of event loss in the presence of different number of nodes as well as node distances. The objective of the proposed system is to offer better availability of RF signals as well as better probability of energy harvesting for mobile devices. The proposed technique is also found to be computationally cost effective.
Utilities Global Market Report 2015 Released By The Business Research Company
http://www.thebusinessresearchcompany.com/our-research/utilities/utilities-global-market-briefing/
Utilities Global Market provides strategists, marketers and senior management with the critical information they need to assess the global Utilities sector.
The total value of the utilities sector globally in 2014 was $3,676 billion. Related to a world population of more than 7 billion in 2014 this equates to about $525 per person globally. Given that World Domestic Product was approximately $78 trillion in 2014, the market makes up about 4.7% of the global economy.
83% of households globally were supplied with electricity in 2013. Urban electrification was 95% whereas, rural electrification stood at 70%. The average annual rate of electrification in developing countries increased by 3.7% in 2014.
Global natural gas production was 3500 Bcm (Billion cubic meters) and grew by 1.6% in 2014. The highest level of natural gas consumption was by China (8.6%) followed by Iran (6.8%).
The utilities industry is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world. The term utilities refers to electricity, natural gas, water and sewerage services consumed by the public, hospitals, schools and other institutions, agriculture, factories and commercial establishments. In some countries these services are provided commercially by national, state or municipal governments or by cooperatives; in many, however, they are provided by the private sector.
Electric utility companies engage in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. They source coal from mining companies and heavy oil distillates from oil companies for power generation. Some also source power from sustainable energy sources and nuclear power stations for distribution. The power generated is transmitted over long distances to transformers in substations. The electricity from the substation is then delivered to commercial and residential customers, in some cases along a national or state grid. The market for electricity is often a regulated one. Natural gas businesses deal with the storage, transmission and distribution of gas. In this report we are dealing with the companies engaged in transmission and distribution of natural gas. Natural gas utility companies are either privately held or run by state/national governments. They source gas from oil and gas exploration companies for distribution. The gas is stored in storage tanks, then distributed through high capacity interstate and intrastate pipelines to households, commercial and business establishments and to power plants which use it for generating electricity. The market for gas is often a regulated one.
E-MICE: Energy-Efficient Concurrent Exploitation of Multiple Wi-Fi RadiosUniversitasGadjahMada
The concurrent use of multiple Wi-Fi radios in individual frequency channels is a solution readily available today to the increase of a mobile station’s communication capacity, but at the expense of occasional performance deterioration (when the heterogeneity of capacity between interfaces gets severe) and additional power consumption. This paper proposes a mobileside solution for the concurrent use of multiple radios in a performance-aware and energy-efficient manner, with which a mobile station activates and deactivates radio interfaces dynamically according to traffic demands and a predicted capacity gain. To this end, the proposed solution is composed of multiple prediction algorithms and a control algorithm. Prediction when activating an additional radio interface is relatively difficult since no information of the disabled interface’s current status (and the corresponding frequency channel’s) is available at the time of prediction. Our experiments show that, despite different types and used channels, different radio interfaces have a strong correlation of received signal strengths and used PHY rates between them. Based on this observation, the proposed solution learns a correlation pattern between interfaces whenever multiple interfaces are active and makes prediction of the coverage, expected PHY rate and capacity impact of an inactive interface based on the learned correlation with a currently active interface. The design of the prediction algorithms are based on a simple or machine-learning technique (SVM). The control algorithm then keeps monitoring the utilization of active interfaces and, if any of them has utilization over a threshold, checks if each inactive interface is within coverage and a valid rate range based on an active interface’s received signal strength. Finally, an action of a configuration change (either activation, deactivation or no change) selected based on the prediction of the resulting capacity is applied. Testbed experiments using COTS dual-band Wi-Fi interfaces demonstrate that the solution can enhance throughput by up to 29.6% (in a close distance to AP) and at most halve power consumption compared to legacy aggregation while the gain varies depending on the location and traffic conditions.

This method is able to improve various issues found in the widely used CPT system that is bipolar CPT method. Based on the ability of this purposed, the simulation of the CPT system has been designed to prove an amount of power transferred through a layer of tissue. The design used to validate the suggested model which to powering implanted device, and it was performed with 3cm square plates, which have a layer of beef with the 5mm thickness in between 2 coupling plate. Power signal was generated by Class E zero voltage switching. The Class E zero voltage switching has been designed to generating alternate current with the 1MHz frequency appropriate to the hybrid CPT system specification.

Novel framework of retaining maximum data quality and energy efficiency in re...IJECEIAES
There are various unseen and unpredictable networking states in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) that adversely affect the aggregated data quality. After reviewing the existing approaches of data quality in WSN, it was found that the solutions are quite symptomatic and they are applicable only in a static environment; however their successful applicability on dynamic and upcoming reconfigurable network is still a big question. Moreover, data quality directly affects energy conservation among the nodes. Therefore, the proposed system introduces a simple and novel framework that jointly addresses the data quality and energy efficiency using probability-based design approach. Using a simplified analytical methodology, the proposed system offers solution in the form of selection transmission of an aggergated data on the basis of message priority in order to offer higher data utilization factor. The study outcome shows proposed system offers a good balance between data quality and energy efficiency in contrast to existing system.

Communication Cost Reduction by Data Aggregation: A SurveyIJMTST Journal
Wireless Sensor Networks have gained wide popularity in the recent years for its high-ranking applications such as remote environment monitoring, target tracking, safety-critical monitoring etc. However Wireless Sensor Networks face many constraints like low computational power, small storage, and limited energy resources. One of the important issues in wireless sensor network is to increase the network lifetime to keep the network operational as long as possible. In this survey paper, we provide a comprehensive review of the existing literature on techniques and protocols for data aggregation to reduce communication cost and increase network lifetime in wireless sensor networks.
Energy efficient intelligent routing in WSN using dominant genetic algorithmIJECEIAES
In the current era of wireless sensor network development, among the various challeng- ing issues, the life enhancement has obtained the prime interest. Reason is clear and straight: the battery operated sensors do have limited period of life hence to keep the network active as much as possible, life of network should be larger. To enhance the life of the network, at different level different approaches has been applied, broadly defining the proper scheduling of sensors and defining the energy efficient communication. In this paper heuristic based energy efficient communication approch has applied. A new development in the Genetic algorithm has presented and called as Dominant Genetic algorithm to determine the optimum energy efficient routing path between sensor nodes and to define the optimal energy efficient trajectory for mobile data gathering node. Dominancy of high fitness solution has included in the Genetic algorithm because of its natural existence. The proposed solution has applied the connection oriented crossover and mutation operator to maintain the feasibility of generated solution. The proposed solution has applied with various simulation experiments under two different scenarios: in first case energy efficient routes among the sensors have explored to deliver the information from source sensor to the sink node and in second case, energy efficient route among all local data hubs for mobile data gathering node has obtained. The proposed solution performances have been analyzed quantitatively and analytically. It has observed with various experimental results that proposed method not only has delivered the better solution but also has faster convergence and high level of reliability in compared to conventional form of Genetic algorithm.
Optimized Projected Strategy for Enhancement of WSN Using Genetic AlgorithmsIJMER
This paper put forward a new strategy for selecting the most favorable cluster head in Stable
Election Protocol (SEP). The planned approach selects a node as cluster head if it has the maximum
energy among all the available nodes in that particular cluster. It considers diverse nodes and divides
nodes among normal, transitional and advance nodes. To handle the heterogeneity of the nodes, different
optimized probability density functions are selected. First node dead time explain the network stability
period and last node dead explain the overall network lifetime. The main pressure is to increase the time
when first node dies and also when last node dies. The projected strategy is designed and implemented in
the Matlab using mathematics toolbox. The projected algorithm is also compared with the some prominent
protocols like leach, E-LEACH, SEP and extended SEP
Mobile Agents based Energy Efficient Routing for Wireless Sensor NetworksEswar Publications
Energy Efficiency and prolonged network lifetime are few of the major concern areas. Energy consumption rated of sensor nodes can be reduced in various ways. Data aggregation, result sharing and filtration of aggregated data among sensor nodes deployed in the unattended regions have been few of the most researched areas in the field of wireless sensor networks. While data aggregation is concerned with minimizing the information transfer from source to sink to reduce network traffic and removing congestion in network, result sharing focuses on sharing of information among agents pertinent to the tasks at hand and filtration of aggregated data so as to remove redundant information. There exist various algorithms for data aggregation and filtration using different mobile agents. In this proposed work same mobile agent is used to perform both tasks data aggregation and data filtration. This approach advocates the sharing of resources and reducing the energy consumption level of sensor nodes.
LIFETIME IMPROVEMENT USING MOBILE AGENT IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKJournal For Research
Wireless sensor networks have attracted much attention in the research community over the last few years, driven by a wealth of theoretical and practical challenges and an increasing number of practical civilian application. ‘one deployment, multiple applications’ is an emerging trend in the development of WSN, due to the high cost of deploying hundreds and thousands of sensors nodes over a wide geographical area and the application-specific nature of tasking a WSN. A wireless sensor network is a collection of nodes organized into a cooperative network. To reduce the energy consumption, the transmission of data between sensor nodes must be reduced in order to preserve the remaining energy in cluster node. We propose a new energy balancing architecture based on cluster with hexagonal geometry with radius R.select the base station and after select the cluster head with maximum energy of the node and after select mobile agent in minimum distance to cluster head and second highest maximum energy. And then send the data mobile agent to cluster head and cluster head to base station.and we have energy management must be followed to balance the energy in the whole network and improving network lifetime.
Energy-efficient data-aggregation for optimizing quality of service using mo...IJECEIAES
Quality of service (QoS) is essential for carrying out data transmission using resource-constrained sensor nodes in wireless sensor network (WSN). The introduction of mobile agent-based data aggregation is reported to offer energy efficiency; however, it has limitations, especially using a single mobile agent, where QoS optimization is not feasible. A review of existing studies showcases some dedicated attempts to use a mobile agent-based approach and address QoS enhancements. However, they were never combined studied. Therefore, this paper introduces a unique concept of retaining maximum QoS performance during data aggregation using a single mobile agent. The model introduces a unique communication framework, transmission provisioning using exceptional routine management, and simplified energy modeling. The proposed model has aimed for a lower delay and faster data aggregation speed with lower consumption of transmittance energy. The implementation and assessment of the model are carried out considering the challenging environment of WSN with multiple scales of data priority. The proposed model also contributes to evolving out with simplified communication vectors in a highly decentralized method. MATLAB's simulation outcome shows that the proposed system offers better delay performance, optimal energy management, and faster response time than existing schemes.
People are talking about the smart grid to television commercials on this topic, we have a plethora of activities around the world where engineers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and businesses have shown a keen interest in various aspects of this technology. There are smart-grid-related funding opportunities, projects, seminars, conferences, and training programs going on in Europe, the United States, Japan, India and China to name a few. With all this hope and expectation about the smart grid, the question needs to be asked— what it will take to make it real. For the smart grid to be practical and beneficial to society, the following are some of the expectation from the civic society.
IOT-ENABLED GREEN CAMPUS ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ijesajournal
Increasing cost and demand for energy is imposing us to find smart ways to save energy. To satisfy the energy requirement and at the same time to cut down the cost, consumption of energy must be monitored and controlled. Energy consumption can be well managed with the capabilities of the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper presents an architecture towards IoT-enabled Green campus Energy Management System. In the proposed system, the data acquisition module collects energy consumption information from each device and transmits it to the cloud platform for further processing and analysis. Since lighting and air conditioning appliances contribute to most of the electricity consumption in the campus environment, they have been taken as a prototype to validate the proposed architecture.
Optimal Operating Performances of Wireless Protocols for Intelligent Sensors ...chokrio
The systems based on intelligent sensors are currently expanding, due to theirs functions and theirs performances of intelligence: transmitting and receiving data in real-time, computation and processing algorithms, metrology remote, diagnostics, automation and storage measurements…The radio frequency wireless communication with its multitude offers a better solution for data traffic in this kind of systems. The mains objectives of this paper is to present a solution of the problem related to the selection criteria of a better wireless communication technology face up to the constraints imposed by the intended application and the evaluation of its key features. The comparison between the different wire-less technologies (Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, UWB, Bluetooth, ZigBee, ZigBeeIP, GSM/GPRS) focuses on their performance which depends on the areas of utilization. Furthermore, it shows the limits of their characteristics. Study findings can be used by the developers/ engineers to deduce the optimal mode to integrate and to operate a system that guarantees quality of communication, minimizing energy consumption, reducing the implementation cost and avoiding time con-straints.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Utilize signal traces from others a crowdsourcing perspective of energy saving in cellular data communication
1. Utilize Signal Traces from Others? A Crowd sourcing Perspective of
Energy Saving in Cellular Data Communication
Abstract:
With the tremendous growth in wireless network deployment and
increasing use of mobile devices, e.g., smart phones and tablets, improving
energy efficiency in such devices, especially with communication driven
workloads, is critical to providing a satisfactory user experience. Studies
show that signal strength plays an important role on energy consumption
of cellular data communications. While energy consumption can be
minimized by accurately predicting signal strengths and reacting to it in
real time, the dynamic nature of wireless environments makes signal
strengths highly unpredictable. In this paper, after analyzing in detail the
signal strength variation and its impact on energy consumption, we
propose to use crowd sourcing approach to optimize mobile devices’
energy efficiency by utilizing signal strength traces reported/shared by
other users/devices in cellular networks. Via a comprehensive
measurement study, we observe that signal strength traces collected from
different devices are pseudo identical, and they even exhibit similar
threshold-based behaviors in the relationship between signal strength and
device power consumption. Based on our observations, we propose a
predictive scheduling algorithm that: (i) selects the right set of signal
2. strength traces based on its location, (ii) applies a filter to smooth out signal
strengths and hide abrupt changes, (iii) digitizes the signal strength to
“good" and “bad" areas, and (iv) schedules transmissions based on power-
throughput characteristics to optimize the transmission energy efficiency.
To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed algorithms, we prototype the
Crowd sourcing-based predicative scheduling algorithm on Android-based
smart phones. Our experiment results from real-life driving tests
demonstrate that, by leveraging others’ signal traces, mobile devices can
save energy up to 35% compared to the conventional opportunistic
scheduling, i.e., schedule transmissions only based on instantaneous
channel conditions.
Existing System:
Variations between strong and weak signal areas are large enough to pose
significant energy impact on mobile devices when running network driven
applications, as we show clearly in this paper.
As more and more people are increasingly connected to the Internet, crowd
sourcing stands out as an effective approach to either decrease cost for
certain tasks or to enable usage scenarios that are impossible otherwise.
The basic principle behind crowd sourcing is that it utilizes collective
intelligence from the crowd to solve a specific problem, e.g., reporting
news events. In this paper, we propose to use crowd sourcing approach to
obtain signal strength information and save energy for cellular data
communications.
Proposed System:
3. We aim to answer the questions mentioned above through a
comprehensive experimental study and evaluate the benefit via a
prototype implementation. We select High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA)
network for the measurement study, since it is currently the dominant
network for cellular data communications.
Six Android platforms are used to analyze their respective relationships of
signal strength vs. power consumption and signal strength vs. network
throughput.
