Navigating the UX Obstacle Course: A Practical Guidecraigmmacdonald
When we talk about UX, we often talk about it in terms of methods (like card sorting and usability testing) or products (like wireframes and sketches) or as a general effort to be more user-centered in the way interfaces are designed and services are provided. While this view of UX is accurate, it's also incomplete because it obscures the fact that doing good UX requires more than just figuring out how to apply the right method or design an intuitive interface. It also requires navigating a complex web of organizational factors, logistical constraints, and practical obstacles that threaten to derail any UX project before it even gets off the ground. In this interactive session, attendees will delve more deeply into to the more nitty-gritty aspects of getting UX work done. By the end of this talk, attendees will have a stronger grasp on the biggest barriers to doing good UX and get a head start on developing concrete strategies and practical solutions to overcome those barriers and design a more experience-centered organization.

Convincing Execs: Using Eye-tracking Results in Understandable and Persuasive Ways
By Laura Faulkner, PhD, Strategist at FalconDay Consulting and Research Scientist at The University of Texas at Austin, USA
Abstract: If you have ever been on the hot seat of presenting results to executives, you know the challenging, sometimes frustrating, and sometimes puzzling questions they ask. Presenting eye-tracking results can be particularly powerful, but can also be misunderstood and misapplied. Dr. Faulkner presents the do's and don't's of executive communications, including 5 keys to packaging and presenting your results and conclusions to persuade and spark leadership to action.
How Usable Are You? Heather O'Neill, Blend Conference 2014pixelsforhumans
As UX professionals, we spend a lot of our time thinking about the usability of software. But how often do you stop to think about how usable you are – to your colleagues, stakeholders and peers? Many of the same considerations apply to people as to applications. So if you find that you’re not getting your points across, getting materials thrown “over the wall” to you, or not being invited to the conversations you know you should be part of… maybe it’s time for a usability review. Luckily, there are some things you can do to help your “users” gain more understanding and to produce better outcomes for everyone. We’ll cover how to more effectively interact with a team in order to get benefits for yourself and for the whole team, preventing problems down the line while making your working life much happier.
Could You Be More Specific? Techniques to make sure your words say what you w...andCulture
Our ideas are only valuable if we can explain them to others. Too often as designers we fall back on abstract language that does not capture the nuance of what we are trying to communicate. This presentation offers actionable guidelines for improving the specificity of your writing.
You want your design team to have greater influence? Start from within: elevate your designers’ tools, capabilities, and stature by developing a UX Lead program. This is not theoretical; you will see how this has been done and you will learn how to do it yourself.
Hold onto your hats: The Scaled Agile Framework might be good for design!Jennifer Fabrizi
Design and the Scaled Agile Framework… Maybe you’ve heard about SAFe. Maybe others have told you it’s a terrible, scary-looking, confusing diagram of how corporations try to “do agile.” Or maybe you’ve experienced the scrum-of-scrums-from-hell where no one knows what’s really going on, what the product you’re all working on is really supposed be, or why you’re even doing it in the first place. So you might be skittish about talking about it altogether!
We’ll use story telling from our internal XD practice, shining a light on what we’ve found that works and what doesn’t. We’ll share our stories about XD allies and stakeholder management nightmares that lead us to key insights.
We’ll also share our hopes, visions, and plans for how we want to activate design thinking throughout our organization by creating meaningful experiences of design in addition to meaningful experiences.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
