The Solar System

UPCOMING EVENTS
Parent and Student Roles
   The students roles are to gain knowledge and concepts about our Solar
    System. We will have tests and other activities for the students to make
    learning about our solar system easier. They will be assigned a group
    project where he/she will work with their peers to develop a poster board
    and give an oral presentation. I, as the teacher, will provide time for the
    groups to work in the classroom and on the computers as well. I will make
    sure this will not cut into the time of other things we will need to get done
    that day.


   As parents you role is to help your child study or finish assignments at home
    that they were unable to finish throughout the day. Also, help them get
    information on their planet if needed to add to the poster board if we were
    unable to do so at school. Also, help them practice their part of the oral
    presentation to make sure they know their part and what to say. Just overall
    be involved with your child’s education.
Teacher Role (my role)

 My role as the teacher, is making sure the students understand and
   learn everything being taught.
 Make sure if the students need help I am available and will help them
   when needed.
 Offer time to work not only on assignments but their group projects
   as well.
 Not only offer time to help when a student’s problem, but also be
   available for you as parents with any questions you might need to
   ask.
 Overall just be the teacher I need to me for each student and their
   parents.
Essential Question:

 How is the sun
  important to the earth?
Unit questions:
•How many hours
does it take the
earth to complete
in one rotation?
•How many
planets are in our
solar system?
Content Questions:

 How far away is the earth from the sun?
 How long does it take Earth to revolve around
  the sun?
 What makes Earth different from all the other
  planets?
Project-Based Learning

 Project-Based Learning is an easier way of
  learning that offers the students to be more
  hands on.
 It also provides the students to work together
  and learn how to work with others.
 Students will become available to new skills
  developing everyday within the schools.

Teacher Role (my role)  My role as the teacher, is making sure the students understand and learn everything being taught.  Make sure if the students need help I am available and will help them when needed.  Offer time to work not only on assignments but their group projects as well.  Not only offer time to help when a student’s problem, but also be available for you as parents with any questions you might need to ask.  Overall just be the teacher I need to me for each student and their parents.

  • 5. Unit questions: •How many hours does it take the earth to complete in one rotation? •How many planets are in our solar system?
  • 6. Content Questions:  How far away is the earth from the sun?  How long does it take Earth to revolve around the sun?  What makes Earth different from all the other planets?
  • 7. Project-Based Learning  Project-Based Learning is an easier way of learning that offers the students to be more hands on.  It also provides the students to work together and learn how to work with others.  Students will become available to new skills developing everyday within the schools.
