Flex dates: entering and
reusing dates without
restrictions.
Flexdates are smart entry fields
for dates, that allow users to
enter date information as
precisely as they wish. The
minimum amount of information
is based on the standards of the
Canadian Common CV; this
ensures you have what you need
for funding applications. But with
Flexdates, you can enter more
than what the CCV requires:
some date entry fields in funding
competitions only require a year
or a year and a month. Those
same date entry fields in
UNIWeb allow users to enter the
whole date if they so choose.
UNIWeb maintains backwards
compatibility to ensure that all
your data is retrievable
UNIWeb created XMLRecovery, a
software feature that ensures that
no matter when you downloaded
your XML file from the CCV, it can
be read and imported into
UNIWeb as well as recognizing
the differences between versions
and accounts. Further, the XML
files that UNIWeb produces are
current with the most recent
version of the CCV, allowing you
to easily and quickly update your
CCV for funding competitions.

4. As a CV is a chronology of your academic career, it’s
no surprise that dates are important. But how precise
do they have to be?
◎ If a CV only requires a month and year for a
particular entry, users can also add the day. In
cases where a CV only requires a year,
UNIWeb allows users to optionally include a
month, or the full date.
◎ When the data is exported over to the CCV for
funding competitions, only the required date
information gets included in the CCV system;
when it is imported back, it does not override
the date information in UNIWeb.

7. By keeping your CV data stored on UNIWeb,
you are protected from your data suddenly
becoming obsolete.
◎ UNIWeb will keep you current with every update of
the CCV, while also allowing you to use your data
as you see fit.
◎ When the Canadian Common CV makes
significant updates, XML backups from just the day
before are no longer recognized by the system.
While the file may be perfectly fine and
uncorrupted, the incongruence between what the
CCV now expects and the file means that all the
information in the file is unreadable by the CCV:
UNIWeb’s XMLRecovery can recognize the
differences between versions and accounts for
them.
