This document summarizes a session on programmable logic controllers (PLCs). It discusses the different types of PLCs, including compact/fixed PLCs which have a fixed number of input/output modules, and modular PLCs which allow adding inputs and outputs. It also covers PLC system sizes, input/output module types, the block diagram and architecture of a PLC, and learning objectives and outcomes from the session. Students are assigned homework on PLC power supplies and connection diagrams.
