Psychology is defined as the scientific study of the mind, behavior, and mental processes. It uses both biological and social science methods to systematically study these areas. The four main goals of psychology are to describe, explain, predict, and change/control behaviors and mental processes. There are several branches of psychology including abnormal psychology which studies abnormal behaviors and mental illnesses, developmental psychology which studies changes across the lifespan, and cognitive psychology which examines mental processes like memory, problem-solving, and decision-making.
