This document summarizes Italy's compensation system for public and private assets damaged by disasters and emergencies. It defines three levels of events - those managed locally, those requiring regional coordination, and "national" catastrophes. For the largest events, the national government can declare a state of emergency for up to 180 days, renewable once. A decree is issued to implement emergency measures. The document also presents a case study of flooding in central Italy from 2013-2014, detailing the process of assessing damages, issuing decrees, and allocating funds for emergency response and long-term recovery.
This country report by an ADRC visiting researcher describes the status of Lao PDR on Disaster Management. Lao will most likely be affected by drought; earthquake; epidemic; extreme temperature; famine; flood; insect infestation; slides; volcano; wave / surge; wild fires; wind storm. Lao PDR has taken several actions to deepen its efforts to reduce the disaster risks, by establishing a disaster management system, plan and policy and adapting and implementing the Hyogo Framework of action.

What can be done to mitigate risks? Risk assessment / Risk mitigation measures: structural and non structural, long and
short term / Implementation tools: laws, regulations, directives, economic tools –insurance, incentives, taxes- voluntary….
Ulrich Beck reminds us of the fact the in risks imply a tightly coupled combination of “facts” and “values” that make any risk related decision neither purely technical nor purely political.
The complexity of risk conditions requires a suitable approach for a world of infrastructures and settlements built as a sole system.

Replacement for the Sustainable Development Summit Sustainable Development Go...Richard Levicki
Urgent replacement text for the Sustainable Development Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda to be held on 25-27 September 2015
Esteemed Colleagues from Civil Society
With regards to the up and coming Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda, I am sending you a new emergency fit for purpose draft negotiating text named:
The International United Nations Legal Agreement To Restore the Global Commons to its Required Natural State
The basis for the replacement is that the current proposed text from the General Assembly is not fit for purpose and we can longer justify being in negotiations on the current proposal as it is a breach of legal, moral and ethical reasonableness. It will condemn millions of vulnerable children, women and men to the high risks of avoidable death and suffering and threatens to be the final phase in the human obliteration of earth’s ecosystem.
It is therefore not in conformity with the spirit, purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
We ask with deep respect that you review this text and please pledge to us your support for it, promote it, distribute it and help us to get this tabled to put us back on track. We still have a chance so please we urge you to support us in putting this forward as an alternative bright future for all of human kind.

Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
