The Curtis Project in Florida was a partnership between five ULI District Councils that advocated for better integration of land use and transportation planning through outreach at both the state and metropolitan levels. This included producing reports, briefings, and programs to educate over 1,000 individuals. As a result of these efforts, several major transit projects moved forward including Sunrail in Central Florida and plans for expanded transit in Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, and Southeast Florida. The partnership also aimed to continue advocacy at both the state and regional levels.
The presentation was used by UDOT Executive Director Carlos Braceras during the Infrastructure and General Government Appropriations Subcommitte meeting on September 12, 2013.
During the 2017 National Regional Transportation Conference, Dan Blankenship shared information about the Roaring Forks Transportation Authority's work to serve the mobility needs of the region, including through bus rapid transit and other innovations.
Gabon Corridors Performance Evaluation: New Strategic Approach Based-Supply C...World-Academic Journal
This paper is aimed at evaluating Gabonese corridors’ supply chain and transport logistics efficiency. The main purposes of this paper are to: (a) carry out investigations and develop enabling environment strategies; (b) suggest a strategy for boosting investment to ameliorate efficiencies. The scope of the measurement includes: supply chain efficiency (corridor infrastructure; enabling environment; stakeholders; the transport industry) and transport logistic. The principal objective of this study is to help the Gabonese Government in developing the strategic plan for the Gabonese corridors. Results from the present study obviously show that the inter-connection between the enabling environment (road, transport industry services, port and rail transport infrastructure, and the level of services) available to stakeholders have all combined to have an unfavorable effect on transport logistics services in the Gabonese corridors.

Maintaining and Improving Rural Transit Supply in an Era of Cost-Cutting
Presented by: Matthew W. Daus, Esq., Distinguished Lecturer, City College, University of New York, University
Transportation Research Center, Region II
James Cooper, PhD, Head of the Taxi Studies Group, Edinburgh Napier University
In this session, Mr. Daus and Dr. Cooper will address research completed on the supply of transit services, including paratransit use in mainstream transport provision in rural communities. Evidence will be presented from US and European locations, including the application of a shared
transit scheme using a wide range of optimized supply including Demand Responsive Transportation (DRT) and taxi operations. The presentation will also address how the research has demonstrated that bringing bookings and trips together allows authorities and suppliers to reduce costs, effectively maintaining a service with reduced costs, and/or enhancing services.

Hal Morse, Executive Director, Greater Buffalo-Niagara Region Transportation Council
The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) implemented a major route restructuring
initiative on October 31, 2010; a plan which required extensive organizational planning and community participation. The restructuring included adjusting service levels to make the entire system more efficient and increase passenger revenues. Buses now run more frequently over the heaviest used routes, and less frequently over lesser-used portions. This presentation will outline the steps needed to restructure service to be more efficient and cost effective.

In 2010, COTA began working to bring Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to Cleveland Avenue. Local Line 1 serving Cleveland Avenue/Livingston is the second busiest route in the system, with a majority of daily ridership occurring along Cleveland Avenue. Line 1 ridership averages nearly 4,800 daily weekday riders, often with standing room only.
COTA invites everyone to a number of public meetings to learn more about the BRT project. The public can provide valuable input into the project including development of unique branding for the BRT.

Editor's Notes
SEE TYPED, ADDITIONAL NOTES.
After a contentious start and little support from the Governor’s Office, agreement reached on Sunrail funding during Dec. 2010 Special Legislative Session. Construction has been initiated for Phase one of two phases for 61 mile system and it will be operation in 2012. Funding is split between the feds (50%), the state (25%) and local governments (25%).
The Tampa Bay Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) has developed a transportation master plan for the seven country area. It proposal a regional multimodal transportation vision that includes significant rail development in its mid and long term network. The long term (2050) network envisions 115 miles of long distance or commuter rail. Additionally, Hillsborough Transit (Tampa) is conducting an alternatives analysis for two corridors that includes an evaluation of enhanced bus, BRT and light rail. A local one penny sales tax to help fund the system failed a referendum last year.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority completed a feasibility study for commuter rail in 2009. The study screened seven service corridors and narrowed them to three preferred service corridors. These connect downtown Jacksonville to the town of Yulee to the north in Nassau County, St. Augustine to the southeast and Green Cove Springs to the southwest. All routes are along existing FEC and CSX rail lines. This study concluded that commuter rail is feasible for this emerging area. In addition to commuter rail, JTA is looking at BRT, streetcars and waterborne transit.
