2. Evaluation of the meeting:
We took the mobility on 2-3-4 July. First we were welcomed by the English teachers and
had a school tour. Sarah Gower. the coordinator of English team gave us information about
their school and the system. We were enlighted with the great information about SEN
teaching in detail. We had a chance to meet students. We had a language workshop to teach
Turkish to students. We had a cooking workshop with the students too, going into the kitchen
with students. A nice musical performance was given by the Finnish teacher to all of us. We
played a classical English game Rounders with students creating international teams.
This mobility had a chance for us to learn about SEN teaching and how to control students
behaviours to make them gain good manners. Things we learnt here will be used by us in the
coming season after presenting everything to my class. Thank to Sarah Gower who was a
great organizer.

Evaluation of the meeting:
For us it has been a special experience as students, teachers and staff of the “Observatory
School”are. When we arrived we were so curious to see how a school manages to run so
special situations. During the days we have understood: a team work is the base of the
successfull school; you can’t stay in such a school only “to work”, you have “to love” your
job.
The Training Workshop about SEN Strategies has been very interesting: how to deal with
various learning difficulties, needs and managing stress and anxiety; we have certainly
provided our experience with interesting details to share with our colleagues and students.
Also the Workshop about the British school system has interested us: we have visited the
classrooms and met students together with some of the members of the staff.
Students, divided in small groups, have been taught some Italian words through learning
games. We made also a cooking workshop: together with some students we prepared two
traditional Sicilian recipes: “meat balls in lemon leaves” and “Biancomangiare with almond
milk and pistachio”; our recipes became part on the lunch.
We engaged also in the game “rounders”, a funny PE workshop. Students were talented in
this game, we less.
We are grateful to Sarah and her staff for the great experience in the beautiful land of the
Merseyside.

Evaluation of the meeting:
Even though this mobility had to be scheduled unexpectedly soon and with very short time to
be prepared, we would like to thank Sarah Gower, the UK co-ordinator, and all the staff at the
Observatory School for their brilliant work. The welcome was very warm and we really
enjoyed the opportunity to experience how such special schools work. Their methodologie
with SEN students was really inspiring and we even had the chance to spend some time with
a number of pupils to teach them basic things in Spanish. The sport activities were fun as well
as the cooking workshop.
In addition to this, we had the time to visit the nearby city Liverpool and some pictural towns
around Bidston.

Comments
This mobility has been a great chance and opportunity to learn more about the British school
system and how it deals with SEN students. The programme prepared by Mrs Sarah Gower
was beyond our expectations as it allowed us to improve our knowledge on SEN strategies,
different school systems but also to test the presented strategies by giving classes to their
students. Food tech, language and PE activities have been wonderful moments with the
students. It was also a great moment to talk about some of them about their backgrounds,
difficulties and see how they appreciate the environment provided by such a caring staff and
4. school. They are truly an inspiration for us, and a challenge to show as much empathy as the
teachers show for them. Thank you Sarah for everything!

Comments:
What an amazing 3 days we have had with our Erasmus teachers! Our pupils have learned so
much about other cultures and countries. They have really embraced the whole experience. They
have been cooking, singing, dancing, learning languages, exploring different cultures and playing
sports with our amazing international teachers.
We hope they too have learned about how to engage children with SEN.
I can’t wait to see you all again soon!
