Structure:
■ My school will be designed for all levels, ages K-12 (2-18 in age) and will
be divided into 4 sections:
1. Early Childhood
2. Elementary School (1st – 5th grade)
3. Middle School (6th to 8th grade)
4. High School (9th to 12th grade)
■ The school will be structured in a campus, with each section having its
own building.
■ There will be about 1400 students in total.
Key Education Facilities
■ Early ChildhoodCenter
■ Elementary, Middle School, and High School divisions will be two-story buildings and
structured with the following pleasing learning environments:
a. Library
b. Art and music studios
c. Science labs.
d. Multi functional gym
e. Interactive learning center
f. Cafeteria
■ Performance arts center with music spaces, practice rooms, and a theater.
■ Sports Facilities that include:
a. Competition swimming pool with seated viewing gallery
b. Basketball courts
c. Baseball arena
d. Football arena
e. Volleyball courts
f. Dancing studio
 Students will choose what kind of sports to play based on their likes and needs, or a
performing arts. It will only be required in high school for one year per the curriculum
but they will be encouraged to pursue it throughout their time in school.
Classroom Structure
■ Classrooms will be structured per grade level and they will hold around 20-25 students
per classroom.
■ All student will be in classrooms that inspire them and surrounded with examples of
what they aspire to be.
■ Each building must contain open windows and spaces that create joy and positivity.
■ All classrooms will be designed by stations with the following:
a. Table for all students to engage in open discussions
b. Individual seating
c. Media corner
d. Reading corner
■ Each station will provide appropriate and
comfortable seating.This will also depend on
each teacher who can change the classroom
structure based on their student’s individual
needs.
■ The school structure will reflect the diversity of
environments that students come from and it
will be built to accommodate to all students, no
matter background or disability.
■ It is also important to take into consideration the school and student’s safety and
security. Each building will include safety equipment, and fire exits in each floor.There
will also be a school nurse in each building.
■ There will be one main entrance were only parents, students, and personnel will be
allowed in.Visitors will have to go through security where they will be asked to sign in.
■ Clean bathrooms
■ Hallways should be quiet, so all classrooms will be designed to be sound proof.This is
important because some students find loud noises aversive.
■ There will be a designated area in the classroom where students can post ideas to help
make the learning environment more engaging and fun.
Classes
■ Students will be grouped in classes of 25 or less students per classroom.
■ Students will be grouped according to their grade level and their age. I believe that it is
important for students to be surrounded by peers around the same age level to be
able to interact with age appropriate peers and learn to socialize.
■ Students will learn in a student-centered environment where each of their learning
process is personalized to meet their precise needs.
■ Special education students that require smaller classrooms or more individualized
learning will be in a SPED classroom with a special education teacher and
paraprofessional. However, these classrooms will also be divided by grade level and
based on their functional needs.
Personnel
■ There will be one Head of the School
■ 4 principals for each section, Early Childhood, Elementary School, Middle School, and
High School.
■ There will be one assistant principal per grade level.
■ 1 academic director
■ 1 Dean of Operations
■ 1 Director of Fine Arts and 2 teachers per grade level for Art, Music and Dance
■ A coach and assistant coach per sports and 1 PE teacher.
■ Special Education:
1) Teachers hired per caseload
2) BCBA and BCaBA
3) Diagnostician
4) Speech Pathologist
 An IT department will be established to help students set up their technology devices
and take care of the rules and expectations of having a technology device in a
classroom.They will make sure all students are utilizing their devices safely.
Instruction
■ Students will have access to a flexible instruction and independent environment.
■ Each teacher will post their lesson goals and plans to make sure students know what is
expected of them, however students will also have assignment options based on
individual needs,
■ Teachers will also allow for flexible work spaces to ensure student’s success.This is
important because each goal, which will be determined based on individualized
assessments and will be customized based on needs.
■ Teachers will also provide ongoing feedback in order to be able to help and guide
students who are struggling in any area.
■ Since instruction will be individualized, students will work with media or digitalized
text.
■ Teachers teach a whole class but the classroom is set up by learning stations.
■ Examples:
1. Early Childhood
2. ElementarySchool: in ElementarySchool classes will
be set up for students to rotate through different
stations. Classes will also be done in an outside
classroom if the weather allows it.This will provide a
different perspective for students .
3. Middle School: teachers will teach the class as a whole when
talking about discussions, or leading lectures. However,
learning stations will be set up to ensure students are learning
the material being taught. Students will also be able to choose
were to sit.
4. High School: high school students will be more independent.
Teachers will lead lectures to the whole class in the first half of
the class and then they will divide by groups to work on
projects, homework and essays.Teachers will remain engaged
with the students to ensure success.
5. SPED: students will have access to special education and
related services based on their individual needs and capabilities.
All SPED teachers and teachers in general will be properly
trained to implement flexible instruction in the general
classroom and in SPED classes. Accommodation will be
provided for students who need them.
General curriculum
■ My school will follow UDL principles
to create a curriculum that will adapt
to each individual students.
■ The school will follow state
standards, however educators will
evaluate each student during the
assessment process to create a
curriculum that is achievable by all
students that attend the school.
■ During the assessment process,
educators will utilize the three brain
networks to understand students.
Early Childhood Curriculum
■ Integrated play-based curriculum
■ The curriculum will focus on active learning through critical thinking and
creative problem-solving.
■ The curriculum will be customized to each individual student which will
encourage students to develop individuality in these prime ages of
development.
■ Students will be encouraged to learn about each other and work
together as a class to create a dynamic and joyful community of
students who will have strong educational foundations.
UDL
Principles
This approach to learning will set a positive
tone and building motivation for each student.
Student’s differences will be celebrated and
through flexible instruction they will be able to
thrive in the education system.
Teachers will also teach students the essential
skills to learn, grow and improve.They will
utilize positive language to build excitement
about learning.
Elementary School Curriculum
■ Teachers will encourage individuality through the curriculum and continue to follow
UDL principles as a foundation.
■ Core curriculum will include mathematics, science, social studies, and languages.
■ Flexible instruction and a responsive curriculum will help all students participate in the
general curriculum and reduce barriers to instruction.
■ Teachers will also teach class as a whole but will provide flexible options based on
students individual learning networks.
• Affective network: teachers will provide multiple means of
engagement.
• Strategic network: teachers will provide multiple means of action
and expression
• Recognition network: teachers will provide multiple means of
representation.
Middle School Curriculum
■ This curriculum will include all core subjects plus electives in fine arts, computer
science and students will be able to participate in sports and extracurricular activities
like community service and clubs.
■ The curriculum will continue to follow UDL principles and will assess all students based
on the three brain networks.
■ Students will know their learning expectation in each class but they will have the
ability to choose the material used for instruction.
■ For example, students can utilize media for learning instead of regular textbooks and
they will be able to choose their assignment. If a student prefers to make a PowerPoint
orYouTube video to present their ”homework” they will have the chance to do so.
Technology
■ Students will have access to technology in each classroom based on their
grade level
■ Children in the Early Childhood Center will utilize interactive white boards and
tablets
■ Students in Elementary School, Middle School, and High School will also have
access to technology for instruction and for assignment purposes.
■ In Middle School and High School students will be provided with computers in
each classroom and they will have the choice to utilize them to take notes and
do assignment instead of notebooks. Each device will be set up based to their
own preference.
■ Technology allows for flexibility because of the UDL principles.
■ IT departments are going to set up a separate WiFi network to host student
owned devices on the school network.
■ In some classrooms were a 1:1 ratio of technology is not possible, there would
be a set of 6-10 devices for classrooms of 20 students.
Assessment
Assessments are a source of meaningful information that enables educators to plan for
flexible instruction that supports student learning.
Students will know exactly how they will be assessed and what knowledge or skills they
are responsible for demonstrating.
Students will undergo ongoing assessment to measure their progress.Teachers will be
expected to make any changes to individual goals if a student is struggle in a subject or
class.
Students from Middle School and High School will take regular quizzes and test, however
teachers will administered them based on their learning network.
Students will be able to learn to assess their own learning needs and succeed in their
education progress.The purpose of UDL is to create expert students who can monitor
their own progress and sustain their interest in education.

UDL assingment

  • 2. Structure: ■ My school will be designed for all levels, ages K-12 (2-18 in age) and will be divided into 4 sections: 1. Early Childhood 2. Elementary School (1st – 5th grade) 3. Middle School (6th to 8th grade) 4. High School (9th to 12th grade) ■ The school will be structured in a campus, with each section having its own building. ■ There will be about 1400 students in total.
  • 3. Key Education Facilities ■ Early ChildhoodCenter ■ Elementary, Middle School, and High School divisions will be two-story buildings and structured with the following pleasing learning environments: a. Library b. Art and music studios c. Science labs. d. Multi functional gym e. Interactive learning center f. Cafeteria ■ Performance arts center with music spaces, practice rooms, and a theater.
  • 4. ■ Sports Facilities that include: a. Competition swimming pool with seated viewing gallery b. Basketball courts c. Baseball arena d. Football arena e. Volleyball courts f. Dancing studio  Students will choose what kind of sports to play based on their likes and needs, or a performing arts. It will only be required in high school for one year per the curriculum but they will be encouraged to pursue it throughout their time in school.

Classroom Structure ■ Classrooms will be structured per grade level and they will hold around 20-25 students per classroom. ■ All student will be in classrooms that inspire them and surrounded with examples of what they aspire to be. ■ Each building must contain open windows and spaces that create joy and positivity. ■ All classrooms will be designed by stations with the following: a. Table for all students to engage in open discussions b. Individual seating c. Media corner d. Reading corner
  • 6. ■ Each station will provide appropriate and comfortable seating.This will also depend on each teacher who can change the classroom structure based on their student’s individual needs. ■ The school structure will reflect the diversity of environments that students come from and it will be built to accommodate to all students, no matter background or disability.
  • 7. ■ It is also important to take into consideration the school and student’s safety and security. Each building will include safety equipment, and fire exits in each floor.There will also be a school nurse in each building. ■ There will be one main entrance were only parents, students, and personnel will be allowed in.Visitors will have to go through security where they will be asked to sign in. ■ Clean bathrooms ■ Hallways should be quiet, so all classrooms will be designed to be sound proof.This is important because some students find loud noises aversive. ■ There will be a designated area in the classroom where students can post ideas to help make the learning environment more engaging and fun.
  • 8. Classes ■ Students will be grouped in classes of 25 or less students per classroom. ■ Students will be grouped according to their grade level and their age. I believe that it is important for students to be surrounded by peers around the same age level to be able to interact with age appropriate peers and learn to socialize. ■ Students will learn in a student-centered environment where each of their learning process is personalized to meet their precise needs. ■ Special education students that require smaller classrooms or more individualized learning will be in a SPED classroom with a special education teacher and paraprofessional. However, these classrooms will also be divided by grade level and based on their functional needs.

Personnel ■ There will be one Head of the School ■ 4 principals for each section, Early Childhood, Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. ■ There will be one assistant principal per grade level. ■ 1 academic director ■ 1 Dean of Operations ■ 1 Director of Fine Arts and 2 teachers per grade level for Art, Music and Dance ■ A coach and assistant coach per sports and 1 PE teacher.
  • 10. ■ Special Education: 1) Teachers hired per caseload 2) BCBA and BCaBA 3) Diagnostician 4) Speech Pathologist  An IT department will be established to help students set up their technology devices and take care of the rules and expectations of having a technology device in a classroom.They will make sure all students are utilizing their devices safely.
  • 11. Instruction ■ Students will have access to a flexible instruction and independent environment. ■ Each teacher will post their lesson goals and plans to make sure students know what is expected of them, however students will also have assignment options based on individual needs, ■ Teachers will also allow for flexible work spaces to ensure student’s success.This is important because each goal, which will be determined based on individualized assessments and will be customized based on needs. ■ Teachers will also provide ongoing feedback in order to be able to help and guide students who are struggling in any area. ■ Since instruction will be individualized, students will work with media or digitalized text. ■ Teachers teach a whole class but the classroom is set up by learning stations.
  • 12. ■ Examples: 1. Early Childhood 2. ElementarySchool: in ElementarySchool classes will be set up for students to rotate through different stations. Classes will also be done in an outside classroom if the weather allows it.This will provide a different perspective for students .
  • 13. 3. Middle School: teachers will teach the class as a whole when talking about discussions, or leading lectures. However, learning stations will be set up to ensure students are learning the material being taught. Students will also be able to choose were to sit. 4. High School: high school students will be more independent. Teachers will lead lectures to the whole class in the first half of the class and then they will divide by groups to work on projects, homework and essays.Teachers will remain engaged with the students to ensure success. 5. SPED: students will have access to special education and related services based on their individual needs and capabilities. All SPED teachers and teachers in general will be properly trained to implement flexible instruction in the general classroom and in SPED classes. Accommodation will be provided for students who need them.

General curriculum ■ My school will follow UDL principles to create a curriculum that will adapt to each individual students. ■ The school will follow state standards, however educators will evaluate each student during the assessment process to create a curriculum that is achievable by all students that attend the school. ■ During the assessment process, educators will utilize the three brain networks to understand students.
  • 15. Early Childhood Curriculum ■ Integrated play-based curriculum ■ The curriculum will focus on active learning through critical thinking and creative problem-solving. ■ The curriculum will be customized to each individual student which will encourage students to develop individuality in these prime ages of development. ■ Students will be encouraged to learn about each other and work together as a class to create a dynamic and joyful community of students who will have strong educational foundations.
  • 16. UDL Principles This approach to learning will set a positive tone and building motivation for each student. Student’s differences will be celebrated and through flexible instruction they will be able to thrive in the education system. Teachers will also teach students the essential skills to learn, grow and improve.They will utilize positive language to build excitement about learning.
  • 17. Elementary School Curriculum ■ Teachers will encourage individuality through the curriculum and continue to follow UDL principles as a foundation. ■ Core curriculum will include mathematics, science, social studies, and languages. ■ Flexible instruction and a responsive curriculum will help all students participate in the general curriculum and reduce barriers to instruction. ■ Teachers will also teach class as a whole but will provide flexible options based on students individual learning networks.
  • 18. • Affective network: teachers will provide multiple means of engagement. • Strategic network: teachers will provide multiple means of action and expression • Recognition network: teachers will provide multiple means of representation.
  • 19. Middle School Curriculum ■ This curriculum will include all core subjects plus electives in fine arts, computer science and students will be able to participate in sports and extracurricular activities like community service and clubs. ■ The curriculum will continue to follow UDL principles and will assess all students based on the three brain networks. ■ Students will know their learning expectation in each class but they will have the ability to choose the material used for instruction. ■ For example, students can utilize media for learning instead of regular textbooks and they will be able to choose their assignment. If a student prefers to make a PowerPoint orYouTube video to present their ”homework” they will have the chance to do so.

Technology ■ Students will have access to technology in each classroom based on their grade level ■ Children in the Early Childhood Center will utilize interactive white boards and tablets ■ Students in Elementary School, Middle School, and High School will also have access to technology for instruction and for assignment purposes. ■ In Middle School and High School students will be provided with computers in each classroom and they will have the choice to utilize them to take notes and do assignment instead of notebooks. Each device will be set up based to their own preference. ■ Technology allows for flexibility because of the UDL principles. ■ IT departments are going to set up a separate WiFi network to host student owned devices on the school network. ■ In some classrooms were a 1:1 ratio of technology is not possible, there would be a set of 6-10 devices for classrooms of 20 students.
  • 21. Assessment Assessments are a source of meaningful information that enables educators to plan for flexible instruction that supports student learning. Students will know exactly how they will be assessed and what knowledge or skills they are responsible for demonstrating. Students will undergo ongoing assessment to measure their progress.Teachers will be expected to make any changes to individual goals if a student is struggle in a subject or class. Students from Middle School and High School will take regular quizzes and test, however teachers will administered them based on their learning network. Students will be able to learn to assess their own learning needs and succeed in their education progress.The purpose of UDL is to create expert students who can monitor their own progress and sustain their interest in education.
