STRUCTURE
• Students that are physically handicapped
o Ramps outside of the school (entrance, exit, near playground) for easier maneuver
o Raised desks so that students can easily complete their assignments
o Wide classroom doors for easy access
• 9 Classrooms divided by age and skill level, plus 3 special education classrooms divided by
age group – 12 total
• 4 offices
o Front office towards the entrance of the school
o Principal’s office
o Vice Principal’s office
o Counselor’s office
• Conference room where meetings will be held such as ARD meetings
• Record room to store each students’ overall progress – documentation, work samples, etc.
• Work room where teachers and staff can make copies of assignments for the week
• Mailing room where staff can gather their items for the day, week, and/or month
• Library
• Gym
• Fine Arts Room where students get to
• Cafeteria
• Technology room for students to complete projects
o 15 desktop computers
o Assistive technology - ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE A DOCUMENTED NEED FOR ASSISTIVE
TECHNOLOGY CAN ACCESS THESE
 Speech-to-text keyboard
 Applications on three computers – spelling check, grammar check, punctuation check

CLASSES
• Each classroom will be divided by age – EACH AGE WILL HAVE THREE CLASSROOMS TO PREVENT OVERCROWDING
o 3 to 6 years
o 7 to 9 years
o 10 to 12 years
• Each classroom will be set by skill level – WILL BE TAUGHT THROUGH THE SAME CURRICULUM
o Low – more intervention
o Medium – some intervention if needed
o High – advanced learning
• 3 special education classrooms divided by age
o 3 to 6 years
o 7 to 9 years
o 10 to 12 years
• TOTAL NUMBER OF CLASSROOMS - 12
HOW WILL THE SCHOOL BE STAFFED?
• 9 general education teachers, 3 special education teachers
o Hiring will be heavily based on experience, education and certification
o Once hired, teachers will be responsible for documentation, work samples and any other necessary paperwork
– this will all be stored in the records room
• Paraprofessionals for each age group – 6 total
• Principal and Vice Principal for disciplinary purposes
• Secretary
• Counselor for students who are experiencing personal issues
• Additional teachers – PE teacher and fine arts teacher
• Additional staff – cafeteria workers, custodians, and a librarian
INSTRUCTION
• Teachers will provide instruction using a variety of media
o Visual – graphs, anchor charts, images
o Auditory – videos, recordings
o Tactile – hands on activities that go with the lesson
o Kinesthetic – stations, scavenger hunts
• Students will have their own textbooks – THESE WILL BE KEPT IN THE
CLASSROOM
GENERAL CURRICULUM
• General curriculum will be taught
o Reading
o Math
o Science
o Social studies
o PE
o Fine Arts
• Based on students’ educational needs
o SPED students – IEP goals, accommodations, modifications
TECHNOLOGY
• Technology room
o 15 desktop computers – 3 of these computers will have applications that are designated for special
education students
o Printer
• Classrooms
o Teacher
• Laptop
• Document camera
o Students
 5 laptops per classroom
 5 iPads per classroom
ASSESSMENTS
• Assessments will be based on mastery of skills by age
• Teachers will observe each student
• Rubrics will be used
