DEFINITION OF SOCIETY
• Society refers to a group of individuals who share a
common culture, institutions, and often interact
within a defined geographical area. It involves social
relationships, norms, and shared values that shape
the behavior and interactions of its members.
POSITIVE EFFECTS OF SOCIETY
• Society can have positive effects by providing a support system, fostering
cooperation, and creating a sense of belonging. It enables the sharing of
knowledge, resources, and diverse perspectives, contributing to collective
progress and development. Additionally, societal structures often promote
collaboration and mutual assistance.
Example of Positive effects of Society
STRONG FAMILY VALUES
Family is a central part of Filipino culture, and strong family bonds
contribute to a sense of stability and support.
ECONOMIC GROWTH
The Philippines has experienced economic growth in recent years,
contributing to improved living standards and job opportunities for many
citizens.
TALENT IN THE ARTS
Filipinos excel in various forms of art, including music, dance, literature,
and visual arts. The country has produced internationally acclaimed
artists and performers.
FESTIVALS AND CELEBRATIONS
The country is home to vibrant and colorful festivals, celebrating a wide
array of cultural, religious, and local events, showcasing the lively spirit of
the people.

hospitality and friendliness, often
welcoming visitors and strangers with
warmth and generosity

Negative effects of society
Negative effects of society can include inequality,
discrimination, and societal pressures that contribute
to mental health issues. Additionally, societal norms
sometimes limit individual expression and hinder
personal growth.

Poverty
A significant portion of the population
still lives below the poverty line, leading
to economic disparities.
Corruption
Corruption exists in various sectors,
affecting governance, public services,
and business transactions.
Traffic Congestion
Urban areas, especially Metro Manila,
experience severe traffic congestion,
leading to productivity issues and a
decrease in the quality of life..

The country has experienced political
challenges, and issues related to
governance and stability can impact
social and economic development.

While the overall crime rate has decreased
in recent years, certain areas still face
challenges related to criminal activities.
Environmental Concerns
Issues such as deforestation, pollution,
and natural disasters pose threats to
the environment and public health.
