Yesterday…. No Live Class!
Unit 5: Lesson 2 - Slop
* Watch videos on Slope
* IXL skill W.1
Today - Unit 5: Lesson 3 - Slope Intercept Form
No live class on Thursday!
No help session this week. Stay after class if you need
assistance!
Learning Target:
Graph a line using slope intercept form
Goals:
 Write an equation in
slope intercept form
 Identify the slope
from an equation
 Graph a line using
the slope and
intercept
Agenda:
 Review graphing a linear
equation
 Slope Intercept Form
 What is it?
 How do you change a
given equation to this
form
 Using it to graph a line
1. Pick a value for x
2. plug it in the equation
3. solve for y
y = x + 3
How about this one?
x + 3y = 9
Slope Y-intercept
In an equation written in slope-intercept
form, y = mx + b, m is the slope and b is
the y-intercept.
Convert this one to slope intercept form then graph it
4x + 2y = 8
Graph the function
8x = 5y
Questions????
What should you do now?
 Check out the video in the Unit 5: Lessons 3 Folder
 IXL Practice – W.4 Find the Slope of an Equation
 IXL Practice – W.5 Graph a Linear Equation
In today’s lesson you learned how to convert an
equation in standard form to slope intercept
form. You then used the slope intercept form to
graph the line.
