The Tysons Boulevard & Galleria Drive Pedestrian Access Improvements project eliminated a dual right turn movement from Tyson’s Blvd onto Galleria Dr. and replaced it with a single turn movement into the existing acceleration lane. The project also included removal of existing pavement and portions of medians, full depth pavement, mill and overlay, new pedestrian signals, pavement markings and signing, sidewalk and drainage improvements.

Description:
The Tysons Boulevard & Galleria Drive Pedestrian Access Improvements project was substantially
completed on June 05, 2018. The scope of this project included the elimination of a dual right turn
movement from Tyson’s Blvd onto Galleria Dr. and replaced it with a single turn movement into the
existing acceleration lane, removal of existing pavement and portions of medians, full depth pavement,
mill and overlay, pedestrian signals, pavement markings and signing, sidewalk and drainage
improvements.
Project Overview:
This project is a safety and pedestrian improvement project at this intersection and has minimal
construction and disturbed area, qualifying it as a Tier 1 project. With the development of this project,
the impervious area is decreased from (4024.28 SF) to (1175 SF) and replaced with pervious grass area.
With the decrease in impervious area, the project meets adequate outfall requirements in accordance
with MS-19 such that the post-developed runoff is less than pre-developed runoff.
