Share capital refers to the money contributed by shareholders to start a business. There are different types of shares such as ordinary shares, preference shares, and redeemable preference shares. Ordinary shares provide voting rights and rights to profits, while preference shares offer fixed dividends but no voting rights. A company's authorized capital is the maximum amount allowed per its memorandum, while its issued, subscribed, and paid up capital refers to amounts offered, taken up, and paid for by shareholders respectively. Fully paid up capital means the nominal value of shares has been received in full.
