Lack of awareness in 2017 of the work of DIT’s Digital,
Data and Technology (DDaT) team in developing the
great.gov.uk platform and the digital transformation of
the Department, as well as the importance of digital
channels in trade now and in the future and how UK
Government can leverage their position.
Action
Created a dedicated Head of Communications and
Engagement, mapped out internal and external
stakeholders, created brand and messaging and trained
members of the DDaT team in comms and stakeholder
engagement and product perception.
Outcome
Increased positive awareness of DIT’s work to facilitate
the UK’s trade via digital channels, within DIT, within
Ministerial offices, across Government, amongst
members of the Civil Service as well as across the UK’s
wider business community. This resulted in businesses
accessing and winning multi-million pound overseas
contracts.

Supporting DBT’s Skills and Services Directorate with
communications and stakeholder engagement with
trade bodies and associations in specific sectors, as
well as with UK companies looking to grow overseas.
Action
Created a series of brands and campaigns to promote
the UK as a leader in specific sectors, including the
creative economy - supported companies with
communications, branding and engaging with
prospective investors.
Outcome
Supported UK companies with overseas trade
missions. Connected them with investors and trading
partners at trade shows at SXSW, MWC Barcelona,
MWC Africa, Singapore Fintech Festival, which led to
business growth in the medium term.

11. Issue
Start-up created in 2010 by ex business journalist to
bring together the international corporate venture
capital (CVC) community with the aim of raising
awareness of CVCs and setting best practices.
Action
Worked with Global Corporate Venturing (GCV) since
it’s foundation in 2010, supporting with its initial
communication strategy. Supported GCV with events
and give its founder strategic communications
counsel and policy matters that support the CVC
community.
Outcome
GCV is today a community of over 260 corporate
venture capital companies from 100+ countries in
Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North and South
America. The combined portfolio value of our
community is about $300bn. It meets quarterly in
London, California, Japan, Korea, and Brazil and
delivers three services: News & Analysis, Community
and Events, and the GCV Institute.

As economies grow in the Middle East and Southeast
Asia, Governments, investors, and public and private
sector organisations are looking to build and protect
their reputation at a national and international level.
Action
In-market agency engages me to create a training
programme focusing on strategic communications
and stakeholder engagement. Clients and leadership
are assessed, and a programme is developed and
delivered that establishes best practice in
communications and innovation strategies.

McKinsey want to increase the profile of their Partners
and Senior Partners with the aim of securing increase
awareness of the firsm expertise in specific areas.
Action
Creates a programme of communications through
LinkedIn that mixes their views and expertise with a
wide McKinsey narrative to position dedicated Senior
partners as thought-leaders on key subjects,
including:

• Data and digital transformation, and
• Risk management.

Secured an increase in engagement with senior
