Video Budget -

Since I’m looking at placing
my advert on ITV 1 during the
Daytime slot (9:30 – 17:30), it
is cost a mediocre amount of
£450 to £11,000, considering
how big the Maryland
company is.
I would put my advert at this
time, because it’s a time
where children and their
parents/careers are watching
TV (mostly from 15:00
onwards), and thus the whole
family is likely to see the
advert at the same times.
Radio Budget -
To properly see roughly how much money it would cost to purchase a slot on a radio show like Capital
FM, I would have to look at RAJAR to see how many viewers the radio channel gets and at what times.
However, it is difficult to find the exact number of people that listen to this specific radio channel from
9:30 to 17:30, and for that reason I can only guess how many listeners do.
Looking at the ruler of thumb, the rate at which a radio advert is priced is £2 per thousand listeners.
From this I can estimate that due to Capital FM being such a popular channel, they are likely to reach
100,000 listeners during the time in which my advert will be aired.
Overall, taking into consideration that I am purchasing an advertisement spot in a fairly popular regional
radio station, to be played on a regular basis every week, it is expected that I would be looking at a cost
of about £3000. This price covers the script writing, audio production, actors, music and sound effects.
This cost is also reasonable for a 30 – 40 second radio advert, as the amount of money that will be
made back is going to be much greater than the money used to purchase the radio spot.
Print Budget -
There’s a variety of prices when it comes to placing adverts in a magazine, depending on how much a
company is looking to spend and how big they want their advertisement on the page, as well as the
location of the advertisement.
The first thing to note is the size of the advertisement on the page, as the larger and more space the
advert takes up, the more pricey it is. For example, a full page single insertion for a magazine advert will
cost £950, whereas an eighth of a page single insertion will amount to about £175. As well as having to
take the size of the advert into consideration, there are also options to use up a ‘premium position’ of
the magazine, these being the back page, inside front/back and the first few pages. These are obviously
much more expensive (up to £1300) as the customer will see the advert straight away, but if purchased
it will ensure the consumer will have the advert in mind as they read on, so its an effective location to
place an advert.
Creating the images for the advertisements is a completely thing in itself, and will also cost to create a
decent image. Photograph shoot prices vary on the skill of the person taking the photo and editing the
image, so essentially the customer is paying for the ability of the photographer. It is safe to assume that
to hire a photographer to take a few pictures, slightly edit and then purchase the pictures would cost
around £150 per session, which is a reasonable price.
Finally, poster prints have a variety of prices and options, from different sized printing options to
different purposes. The posters that would be best for this campaign are outdoor and indoor posters, so
that adverts can be placed inside stores and on major streets for people to see.

Looking at the ruler of thumb, the rate at which a radio advert is priced is £2 per thousand listeners. From this I can estimate that due to Capital FM being such a popular channel, they are likely to reach 100,000 listeners during the time in which my advert will be aired. Overall, taking into consideration that I am purchasing an advertisement spot in a fairly popular regional radio station, to be played on a regular basis every week, it is expected that I would be looking at a cost of about £3000. This price covers the script writing, audio production, actors, music and sound effects. This cost is also reasonable for a 30 – 40 second radio advert, as the amount of money that will be made back is going to be much greater than the money used to purchase the radio spot.

Print Budget - There’s a variety of prices when it comes to placing adverts in a magazine, depending on how much a company is looking to spend and how big they want their advertisement on the page, as well as the location of the advertisement. The first thing to note is the size of the advertisement on the page, as the larger and more space the advert takes up, the more pricey it is. For example, a full page single insertion for a magazine advert will cost £950, whereas an eighth of a page single insertion will amount to about £175. As well as having to take the size of the advert into consideration, there are also options to use up a ‘premium position’ of the magazine, these being the back page, inside front/back and the first few pages. These are obviously much more expensive (up to £1300) as the customer will see the advert straight away, but if purchased it will ensure the consumer will have the advert in mind as they read on, so its an effective location to place an advert. Creating the images for the advertisements is a completely thing in itself, and will also cost to create a decent image. Photograph shoot prices vary on the skill of the person taking the photo and editing the image, so essentially the customer is paying for the ability of the photographer. It is safe to assume that to hire a photographer to take a few pictures, slightly edit and then purchase the pictures would cost around £150 per session, which is a reasonable price. Finally, poster prints have a variety of prices and options, from different sized printing options to different purposes. The posters that would be best for this campaign are outdoor and indoor posters, so that adverts can be placed inside stores and on major streets for people to see.
