Kanye West 808 s And Heartbreak Interpretation
Kanye West s 808 s and Heartbreak (2008) was a very significant album in the hip hop industry
for many different reasons. The title of the album itself is significant because it is actually named
for a type of automatic drumming machine that is commonly used throughout the hip hop industry
today. It was created for rock bands that didn t have a drummer for monetary or other reasons, and
it was just easier than having a drummer, but was very unpopular at first because of its fake sound.
To many, the sounds it produced just wasn t the same in comparison to actual drum sets, which
caused it to fall off the scene. Kanye West, however, uses the machine to create distorted, unique
sounds instead of trying to get the sound of an authentic drum as... Show more content on

It actually discusses many of the same things as Paranoid (another song on the album) does, and
again shows Kanye as frustrated with his ex. Specifically, Kanye discusses how his ex, Alexis
Phifer, tried to control his life by making him her robot. He also talks about how she tried to dig up
things from his past and how this led to the end of their relationship. Examples of lyrics that display
this include Up late night like she on patrol, Checking everything like I m on parole, I told her there
s some things she don t need to know, She never let it go, oh. This track again features the 808
drum machine in the background along with string instruments and other electronically produced
sounds. The most interesting section of this song occurs from the three minute mark of the song
until the end. In this section Kanye strips the autotune, 808, and other electronically produced
sounds found throughout the rest of the album. Kanye continues to sing, but his voice has a much
more natural sound to it and he is only accompanied by string instruments. It s an interesting twist
from the rest of, not just this song, but the rest of 808s Heartbreak

Amounts of Money Student Spend on Drinks Per Week
AMOUNTS OF MONEY STUDENT SPEND ON DRINKS PER WEEK DETERMINANTS OF
STUDENTS BEVERAGE SPENDING USING AN ECONOMETRICS MODEL ABSTRACT The
objective of the present study was to investigate how beverage consumption among UUM students
is different in some respects (e.g., age, gender, status, preference). In total, 59 university
undergraduates were studied. The study is conducted in UUM (Northern University of Malaysia) at
Kedah, Malaysia. By using econometrics model, factors that influence the amount of money
spending on beverage consumption were determined. The students usually drink beverages 6.47
times for one week. Beverages were more preferred by boys than girls. However, the beverages

not everyone has the same preferences. According to Jeffrey M.Perloff (2012), a consumer chooses
between bundles of goods by ranking them as to the pleasure the consumer gets from consuming
each. As consumers, we will consume a good which can give us a higher utility compare to others.
III. LITERATURE REVIEW Before this paper is conduct, some journal articles have been review to
determine which variables should be included in my own survey to get an accurate data set from
the respondents of UUM student. Besides, through literature review, the methodology used by other
authors is able to give a direction for the model that will be form in this paper. Through literature
review from the journal with the entitled Advertising and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages, the
author, Arch G. Woodside (1999) stated that advertisement has no significant impact on the
consumption of alcoholic beverages. Through the literature done by the author, prices and income
is included in the analysis of the model that has significant effect to the consumption of alcoholic
beverages. Through the second literature review on the journal entitled Children as Consumers
Investigating Child Daily Expenditure Data, the author, Lisa Farrell and Michael A. Shields (2007)

Sustainable development has become each country s priority and to effectively achieve this growth
many countries use natural resources in production to comply with the consumers needs, at the
same time making sure that the future generations needs are also met (Repetto et al., 1989). Hence
the use of natural resources in production is processed carefully and effectively yet, even with
cautious dealings accidents occur which result in chaos. Similarly the Montara oil spill in 2009
caused chaos in the Timor Sea and its surrounding population immensely. On 21st August 2009
Australia witnessed one of its worst oil disasters, an oil and gas leak that occurred in the
Montara oil field in the Timor Sea. The leak occurred due to an explosion and it finally ended on
3rd November 2009. During the leak and even years after the issue of compensation still hung
above the company PTTEP Australasia (PTTEP AA). In this essay we will explore the incident
through the perspectives of PTTEP AA, the people of West Timor and the marine environment.
Henceforth we will come to the conclusion of how this ongoing issue can be best handled.
The Montara oil spill lasted 74 days and during that time the oil spill effected the an Indonesian
island s population, marine environment and caused reoccurring nightmares for PTTEP AA who
were trying to seal the oil leak. PTTEP AA had the duty to secure the safety of the workers at the

Introduction Inequality in the society has been an issue since the history of the universe and as
we think we are bridging the gap between the rich and the poor we always find out that it is as a
wide as it was. The poor will always exist in the society as the inferior group while the rich are
the superiors who control various aspects and sectors of the society. The conflict theory explains
that there is always a disparity that exists in the society due to the presence of limited resources as
well as the variations in the skills and knowledge. It will always happen that in the society there are
the wealthy and elite, the middle class people and the poor who have the lower status in the society.
The children from these social statuses will always have varying education success, employment
opportunities and eventually economic success (Zucman, 2014). The generations are likely to
continue their status because the children from the wealthy families will continue having
opportunities that the poor cannot access simply because they are the inferior people in the society.
This is due to the increased need for the society to eliminate inequality, various theorists and
psychologists have been for the past years trying to explain how inequality is introduced in the
society, its causes, effects as well as some of the measures that should be taken to eliminate
inequality in the society. The

Analysis Of Wood Lab
In our density of wood lab, we were interested in learning more about densities of wood, how to
measure density, the difference between softwoods and hardwoods, and how density and strength
are related. In this lab, we utilized 10 different samples of wood blocks. By measuring each
sample s Volume (Length x Width x Height) and mass, we were able to determine each sample s
density(Mass + Volume). The chart below describes our findings.

By measuring the sample s density and then determining what the sample was, we were able to
observe the differences in the wood including color, grain, texture, and weight and its effects on
the density of wood. Additionally, this lab gave us a better understanding of why it is important
to understand wood density. When building a home or another woodworking project you want
to be aware of the type of wood you are using and its density. If you are building a home or a
piece of furniture you are going to need a wood that is strong and will last. Therefore, you will
know you will need a dense wood like oak. But if you are creating a decorative, lightweight art
piece you may want a less dense wood like Lati. It was interesting to see in this lab, that even
though some samples were larger in size than other they still weighed less than the smaller, denser
wood samples. This shows that even though you may have the right size wood, it may not be the
correct density to complete the

Lorazepam
My coworker had a 40 year old patient who came to the hospital for alcohol withdrawal. All the
nurses on our floor knew him really well because he visits our hospital frequently. At around 7:30
pm, our telemetry showed that the patient was having a heart rate of 180s to190s. We all were still
getting report. Charge nursewent to assess the patient, patient started yelling in a loud voice,
throwing pillows and a blanket. It turned out that the patient went to the delirium tremens (DT)

reviewing the medication administration record (MAR), charge nurse noticed that CIWA scale was

As a result, nurses were running behind trying to get their regular and stat blood work,
assessments, vitals and charting done on time. Hence, it was unfair to the patient as well as a
nurse taking care of the patient. If he was given lorazepam as ordered, he would not have gone to
DT and this would not have created any unnecessary stress on the nurses, doctors and patient care
techs. This clinical case is related to the emancipatory knowledge. Emancipatory knowing is the
ability to identify social and political problems of injustice and adds all the elements of experience
and context to change a situation (Chinn, 2010, p. 63). As soon as charge nurse noticed that the
patient had a change of status and tachycardia, she looked at the doctor s note, assessment data and
MAR to figure out what was wrong with this picture and what needs to change. Also, she found out
that the nurse who had this patient during the day had all higher acuity level patient along with 1

Evaluation Of A Strategic Management Process
Introduction
Most organizations put in place a strategic management process in order to identify long term
objectives and put in place action plans that will contribute to the achievement of these long term
objectives. The feedback control model is one of the many model used by management in order to
meet strategic goals by monitoring and regulating the organizations activities (Daft, 2016, p.661).
The provided feedback is used to determine if employees have met the standards or objectives set
before them through their performance. This model is comprised of four steps: establishment of
standards, measurement of standards, performance comparison in relation to standards and finally
corrective actions, when necessary. This paper will analyze the Five Stars case in relation to these
four key steps.
Feedback Control System
The feedback control system was used in the Five Stars case in order to address the issue of teacher
accountability regarding students. The department of education wanted to ensure that student were
able to progress in their education despite their school system. Let s examine each step of the
system in relation to the Five Stars case.
Establishing Standards. The strategic management plan is comprised of long term and short term
objectives that designed around the vision of the organization. Managers have the responsibility of
setting up standards that must be followed by employees. According to Daft (2016), these standards
reflect activities or

Spanish Conquest Essay
Spanish Conquest of the Aztecs Have you ever about ripping out a human s still beating heart? If
not, you would not fit in with the Aztecs. The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican Empire that rose in
power in the post classic period. From the 1300 s 1521, the Aztecs continued to increase their
population and their influence in the Mesoamerican region, despite the upcoming nearby empires,
such as the Tlaxcalan empire. This all changed with the arrival of the Spaniard, Hernan Cortez.
Cortez was a Spanish conquistador under the rule of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand. Cortez
contributed for the downfall of many empires, including the Aztecs. Even though conquering was
not a part of the Catholics religion. The ancient Aztecs followed their religious beliefs more closely
than did the Spanish Catholic Hernan Cortez. Unlike the Spanish,
The Aztecs believed that there were many gods that contributed to everyday life patron god,

Tenochtitlan, Cortez only had about 500 men who followed him. And he knew that the Aztecs
had hundreds of thousands of soldiers at their disposal. So, Cortez invaded outside villages and
forced men to join him. If they refused he would kill them and their family. Displaying how little
the Catholic law means to him. Because in the bible, one of the first laws given was thou shalt not

How Did Military Advances Affect The Civil War
The Civil War was a tragic reality check for the people of America. Thus Military advances
played a drastic role in the war, allowing the North to hit enemies from longer range and fires its
guns faster. Economics also played a radical role in the war. It gave the north an advantage
allowing it to fund the military and purchase all the weapons needed. While military advances
impacted the war, however the economics affected the war the most. Military advances impacted
the war greatly. Ironclad Warships was the great navy weapon the north used to win. The south
didn t have a well put together navy so it was extremely effective. Both sides knew that they need
to place iron on there ships to make them more powerful the North had a greater way of making

it helped the gun fire faster and also had less bugs in the machine. The only downfall to this
weapon was that it was extremely expensive to make and is why the Union mainly used the
Gatling gun. Long Range Weapons and the minie Bullet helped increase the defense of the Union
allowing them to kill from a further distance. The accuracy was also increased by the new
weapons. As one historian quoted about the mine bullet When used in the rifled musket it spun

huge increase from recent guns that could only reach up to 300 feet. 90% of the injuries made in

My Experience With Mba Student Team Development
As a Project Manager (PM), developing high performing teams helps me deliver projects
successfully. Team members are like family; you don t get to choose them. In my 10 year Project
Management career, building productive teams of individuals with varying skills, gender, age,
culture, work ethics, has been my biggest challenge.
One of the most quoted Team development models was proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1960. The
five developmental sequence are: Forming; Storming; Norming, Performing and Adjourning.
In this paper, I have used this model to compare and contrast my experience with the MBA student
team development exercise and my experience as PM in my current job. Why was my experience
in these 2 environments, different?
Stage 1 Forming: When enthusiastic individuals come together to form a team:
For the exercise, the teams were pre assigned. Our team consisted of a diverse group of folks from
the perspective of gender, ethnicity, age, professional background and experience. With the activity
duration set at 1 hour, the team did both, introduction and understanding of the assignment at the
same time. This team truly formed itself and equal leadership was established among the MBA
students, within the first minute or two
In the real world too, the project team members are pre assigned and they are excited and ready to
contribute. Unlike in the exercise, in the real world, team members don t establish equal
leadership. They look for a leader to lead and guide them. As

The Road- Brave New World Compare and Contrast Essay
Differentiating Societies It is remarkable how differentiated works of literature can be so similar
and yet so different, just by the way the authors choose to use select certain literary devices. Two
different novels, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, and The Road, by Cormac McCarthy,
display these characteristics because of the ways the authors institute such mechanisms. Brave New
Worlddescribes a futuristic era where humans are genetically manufactured for a certain job
predestined to them before they are artificially created, and where common human emotions,
desires, wants, and needs have all been modified to support a deemed utopian society where
everyone lives and works together in harmony. The Road describes a post apocalyptic... Show more

In conclusion, Huxley generally uses his collected, connected syntax and structure throughout the
book to display a calmer, informative perspective on the events happening as the story progresses as
well as implementing certain stylistic elements to make certain parts of the novel stand out. The
characterization used by Huxley in Brave New World is one of significance and effectiveness
for the point he is trying to convey. Huxley uses accurate, developed characterization and goes
into great detail about the characters because this characterization ties into the plot. Since the
theme of the novel reflects on how technology can change our world for the worse, by using
accurate descriptions of the characters, their thoughts, and their actions, Huxley is able to more
accurately show the audience how changes in a new society can contrast to the standards we
have set for our society today. In addition, Huxley makes a special point to emphasize how
material goods such as clothing can define a character in this society. Huxley purposefully
establishes these simple social distinctions in characterization in order to emphasize the effect of
the theme. Found in his novel, the following passage reads, What a hideous color khaki is
(Huxley 62). This remark is made by an upper class woman who is characterized as better because
of the programmed idea that wearing khaki is a sign

Personal Characteristics
Based on the stages of human development, I am currently in my early adulthood phase. I
describe myself as sincere, hardworking, and independent women. I also consider myself very
brave and rebellious because I moved to the United States by myself after high school. I chose to
move out of my family because I wanted to be a changemaker. In terms of my personal life, I am
emotionally very strong, and I bring a cheerleading vibe when I see people feeling very down or
upset. On the other hand, I am a very serious and focused person in my professional life.
Furthermore, my friends describe me as a reliable, friendly, strong, and matured person. While, in a
work setting my colleagues describe me as determined, ambitious, and wise.
For this assignment, I took the Myers Briggs test. I was very much satisfied with the results.
According to the assessment, I have a ENFJ type of personality. It is believed that around two to

Effective Workplace Communication
Listening and Effective Workplace Communication
James Humes, a former presidential speech writer, stated that, the art of communication is the
language of leadership (Leading Thoughts, 2010). Communication is an essential process that is
common in the workplace. Everyone in the workplace especially leaders must communicate with
others. Ideas, conversations, disagreements, and commitments can all be exchanged through
communication. Anyone can communicate but it takes discipline and skills to effectively
communicate. These skills can include feedback, presentation, non verbal communication, and
listening. Listening is the most valuable skills to effective workplace communication because it

If a guest calls down to the front desk and complains about their room the front desk clerk needs
to actively listen to know how to respond. A response may include sending up an item that was
requested by the guest or escalating the problem to upper management. Intently listening to the
message that is presented will help employees and managers respond in an appropriate manner. A
response to listening does not always have to verbal. A non verbal response like smiling or
nodding can be an appropriate response. It does not matter if the response is verbal or non verbal,
listening will help to ensure that the response is effective.
People tend to assume that the most important part of the pyramid is the top but they are incorrect.
The bottom of the pyramid is the most important part of the pyramid. The bottom of the pyramid is
the foundation on which the other blocks stand. If there was a pyramid to represent communication
skills, listening would be the foundation or the base for communication. Communication skills
build on each other and the skill that is used for the moment in time is the tip of the pyramid. Truly
effective communication involves more than just expressing yourself clearly. It also requires
effective listening (Brown, 2009). Listening helps to strengthen the other communication skills like
feedback and presentation. It is hard to present to an audience without understanding the audience s

BMW s aircraft engine plant was then forced to close, being that their only product at the time
was the IIIa aero engine ( History of BMW , 2015). Upper management quickly began seeking
other alternatives which resulted in them obtaining a license with a very successful Berlin
based company called Knorr Bremse AG. This partnership was pursued in effort to begin
manufacturing brake systems as a response to survive the cessation of aircraft engine
production. The contract was over a ten year span and was intended to provide BMW with
employment and profit until 1930 ( History of BMW , 2015). This directional shift resulted in
great advantage for BMW as manufacturing power was allocated to BMW from Knorr Bremse
AG because they could not handle the demand they were receiving for manufacturing in their own
factories. This allowed BMW to be accessible for governmental bodies to pursue contracted
agreements. Bavarian trains were then fit and prepared for Knorr brakes in which the Bavarian
government contracted with BMW permitting them to be the official Knorr brake producers of

A Career Plan To Become A Professional Engineer
One of my primary short term career is to get a job in the field of civil engineering within 3
months of graduating. My goal would be for this job to located in the Midwest, more specifically
in the tri state area of South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. I am open to a job in any sub discipline,
but preferably in the areas of structural, geotechnical, or transportation. To achieve this goal, I need
to be proactive in my job searching approach and to continue to do well in my class work and
continue my involvement with ASCE. My biggest criterion for my job would be that I would work
underneath a Professional Engineerdoing engineeringwork that would allow me to sit for the
Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam, as becoming a Professional Engineer is also a
short term of mine. My goal would be to become a Professional Engineer within five years of
graduating. An important first step in my goal of becoming a PE is to pass the Fundamentals of
Engineering (FE) exam.
I believe that I will have the skill set to accomplish my short term goals once graduating. I
believe that not only my strong knowledge of fundamental principles of civil engineering, but also
my ability to learn quickly, will be adequate in achieving my goals. There are still skills that I feel I
am weak in, and if improved, would increase the likelihood of reach my goals. Skills I am still
weak at are being proactive in searching for a job and writing a resume. I can address my fault of

Purpose of the Declaration of Independence
Rights of the People
A democracy is a system of government controlled by the people, not by one certain group or
individual. In the Declaration of Independence it states that all men are created equal, an idea which
leads to the concept that all citizens should have the same rights, responsibilities, and influence in
the governing of their country. In writing the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson was
trying to break his ties with the harsh and non democratic rule of the British and begin a new, equal
society and government for America.
Democracy is defined as A system of government in which ultimate political authorityis vested in
the People. The Declaration s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that it was time for America to break away from Britain s rule and become its own
nation, which could govern itself. To do this, though, it was necessary to write some sort of
document which would state to the world the basic beliefs on which the nation s new government
would be built. This document was the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson felt that Britain was
doing nothing but hurting America with unfair rules and all sorts of ridiculous taxes. The colonies
and colonists had no rights in determining the very laws which dictated the way they led their lives.
The Declaration of Independence was a formal document stating that the people of America were
breaking away from Britain and that the American colonies were now Free and Independent States.
The Declaration of Independence was the cornerstone of American freedom and equality. By
writing this document, the American Colonies could now begin the process of starting a new way
of life and a new government. Obviously, at the time the Declaration of Independence was written
the concept of equality was more limited than it is today. Certainly, all members of colonial
America did not share equal status. However the concepts of the Declaration of Independence have

Teens And Mtv s Unrealistic Beliefs On Teen Pregnancy
Research article authors Nicole Martins and Robin E. Jensen, intended to study the relationship
between MTV s series Teen Mom reality show and teenagers unrealistic beliefs about what is like
to be a teen mom. The seven motivations for asking why are used to convince the audience that it
is worthy of researchby exploring the relationship with the intentions to discredit the previous
findings that state, Teen Momand 16 and Pregnant is one of the best public service campaign to
prevent teen pregnancy. This topic presents a number of complications in the lives of both
induvial and societal as a whole; providing evidence to answer the readers question on why this
topic is of importance and worthy of research. Yearly, $7 billion are taxed to all U.S citizens for
welfare and healthcare relating to teen pregnancy, driving the United States to the top as the
highest rated country with teen pregnancy. Consequently, almost half of teen mothers are unable
to receive a high school diploma; leading to lower occupation income for both fathers and
mothers. I myself have personally witnessed the toll it takes on one s life from three women who
became mothers at a young age. Many teens are unaware of the high risks and consequences of
becoming pregnant or are in denial of the possibility. Being able to be a part of their journey has
increased my belief of the importance on this topic and related research.
When comparing this article to a good literature review, it successfully provides an adequate
overview of previous research done and uses it to enhance the project at hand. When evaluating
the quality and relevance of this article, Martins and Jensen do an admirable job communicating
the purpose of research to the reader and organizing its literature review. The data from other
studies is in chronological order and are structured from broader studies to more specific ones
which is seen when the sources are cited. An analysis was provided after presenting the findings
from previous studies and the authors were able to communicate how those studies influenced
their own research. As a whole, the literature review was well organized by key ideas and topics
that logically lead to the research Martins and Jensen were

Essay On Cherokee Indians
In the Cherokee tribes, there s a saying about an elderly Cherokee chief who was teaching his
grandson about life, A fight is going on inside me, he said to the boy. It is a terrible fight and it
is between two wolves. One is evil he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self pity,
guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self doubt, and ego. The other is good
he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth,
compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person,
too. The young boy questions his grandfather asking which wolf wins. And his grandfather
responded The one you feed (Cherokee proverb). This saying gets me through my daily life, I
tell myself to never feed the evil wolf because that will lead to all the sadness I have fought so
hard to get out of. Another way to think of this phrase is how Karma works in this world. With

Delight In Disorder By Ben Herrick Summary
The poems Delight in Disorder by Robert Herrick and Still to be Neat by Ben Johnson display
similar themes. Both poems are written about natural beauty, Delight in Disorder , focuses more
on the careless beauty while Still to be Neat focuses on the simplicity of natural beauty. Although
these two poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors
aim to unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between
disorder and order in one s appearance. In Delight in disorder , Herrick describes a womanthat is
dressed without extreme care and her detail is more enticing and captivating than a woman who
has put all their energy and effort into dressing up. Herrick writes in lines 11 14, A careless
shoestring, in whose tie I see a wild civility; Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in
every part (766), in these lines he is describing the elegance of the woman s imperfections.
Herrick is emphasizing in his poem that if a woman takes extreme care in her appearance it can
make her seem rigid and uptight. Herrick believes that a woman whose appearance is
disorganized comes across as easy going, and more approachable. Ben Johnson s, Still to be Neat
, the woman is described in line 9 as neatly dressed from her hair to her makeup along with her
loosely flowing clothes (767). Johnson is describing that he prefers and natural beauty rather than
the artificial beauty described in the poem. The

Knowledge Management Article Evaluation
Article Summary
This is a summary of the article Knowledge management, project integration and corporate
sustainability: is there a link? by Everton Michels, Paulo Eduardo Antunes Grijб»Џ, Elizandra
Machado and Paulo Mauricio Selig. In the article, the authors study begins by addressing the use of
knowledge management which is defined to combine together knowledge and communication in an
acceptable preservation that should support the formation, operation, and retention of knowledge.
The authors talk about how there is a substantial gap between knowledge management and project
management, but they make the claim that uniting knowledge management and project
management produces several benefits to a project, which in turn can help with a return on
investments.
The study involved texts and database searches that identified keywords such as knowledge
management, project integration, and corporate sustainability in order to help in the search for
relevant documentation and journals for the study. The authors chose to analyze, compile and
utilize 84 studies dated between the years 2004 through 2012, along with already established
bibliographies on the subject matter. The authors claims of the study of knowledge management is
about introducing change within a procedure which in turn is a way to back up the alliances of the
projects and provide corporate sustainability. However, the study ended up being somewhat

Based on my week, I spend the bulk of my time on school associated activities. This was not a
surprise to me, what I was surprised by was the small amounts of time that I devote to my
religion. Although I attend seminary, read my scriptures, and pray everyday, the accumulative
time of all on these activities adds to just over an hour a day. I am quite aware of how I spend my
time, it is very unusual for me to lay around and waste time of useless tasks.
2. Based on my week, I can only largely identify two main values from exercise #1: knowledge

include time spent on homework or other corresponding activities. Something that did not make too

activities were extremely diminished this week. But it is to be expected that my religion isn t quite
as evident within my daily schedule because it isn t practical to spend over 4 hours a day reading

Solution-Focused Therapy In Social Work
Solution focused therapy is a type of therapy that social workers who works as a therapist helps
clients identify and amplify behaviors that are associated with exceptions to problems, rather than
focusing on problems themselves. It assumes that change in any element of a system will
reverberate throughout the system (Bentley, 2002, p. 78). Individual therapyincludes seven practice
theories that are normally used by social workers in the role of therapist.
1.Ego psychology, as noted by Goldstein, focuses on the activities of the ego a mental structure of
personality that negotiates between one s internal needs and the demands of the environment.
Interventions may be ego supportive or ego modifying and deals with unconscious thought on
behavior (Bentley, 2002, p. 77).

goals of intervention are to promote the differentiation of self with each member to increase the

3.Strategic theory occurs with the social worker helps devise new, creative ways to solve family
problems, and many of these strategies are designed to overcome anticipated family resistance to do
things differently (Bentley, 2002, p. 79).
Group therapy may be the intervention of choice for people with mental health problems who are
assessed as potentially benefiting from an interpersonal process . Therapy groups may focus on
support, education, growth, rehabilitation or social issues (Bentley, 2002, p. 79). One model
included in group therapy includes five stages which features a different set of process and
dynamics: pre affiliation, power and control, intimacy, differentiation and separation (Bentley, 2002,

the formal authority in the process and are making the purchases from the suppliers 3) Influencers

Benefits Of A New Team
When I was in Noida working for Headstrong, my team used to go out for lunch on special
occasions. As that area had quite many options, sometimes we used to be in a fix as to where to
go. Another reason for long decision making was because different people had their own tastes.
And, few of them had even been to places we were zeroing in on and didn t want to go again.
Now, that was a mess as it would delay our outings that were supposed to become a lifetime
memory for a few at least! We tried to plan well ahead in advance, but that also had issues as
people wanted to delay it to the last minute.
We primarily relied on word of mouth recommendations and what we as a team preferred the
most. All in all, it used to go just fine most of the times. However, i remember one incident when
one of our new team members strongly recommended a restaurant to which his family were
regular visitors for many years. He was giving mouthwatering description of the dishes available
there and most of us melted like butter on a parantha and were looking forward to go there.
Come the D day, being a foodie, i was especially charged up; but there was one delay after another
as few of the folks were held up in meetings. It was way past my usual lunch time and finally, we
went ahead around quarter to 3. We were all very hungry but to our utter disappointment we found
the place closed.
The colleague who had recommended us looked pretty sad and asked nearby shops if the
restaurant had closed for good.

Review Of The Defense Of Globalisation
BOOK REVIEW : IN DEFENSE OF GLOBALISATION
INTRODUCTION:
The subject of globalization can trigger a wide range of responses when brought up in a discussion.
To its supporters, globalization represents advancement, monetary development, and promotes a
better future. To its critics, it connotes greed, exploitation, and corruption. These assorted qualities
of perspectives is maybe due to the way that globalization is naturally intricate and includes
distinctive financial and social subtleties at different national and worldwide levels. Understanding
globalization, in this manner, obliges one to perceive how these variables interrelate and impact
each other. One text that makes a successful job of investigating these complex connections is
Jagdish Bhagwati s In Defense of Globalization.
Bhagwati, a Columbia University economics professor and author of numerous books on trade,
makes all the right economic arguments, however without the flurry of factual connections
frequently used to put forth the defense. Rather, he recounts the narrative of how globalization has
conveyed a superior way of life in less developed nations, and how experiments with different
avenues regarding protectionist import substitution policies have deliberately failed. However
unlike numerous other texts on this subject, Bhagwati s presentation does not address the issue
from a principally emotional point of view. Also, he doesn t present his points right and those of
his adversaries as

An Analysis Of Punishment, By Seamus Heaney
Poets have rarely shown a perspective as dubious on the atrocities of the Irish Republican Army as
Seamus Heaney has done in his poem Punishment . Heaney succeeds in uniting two contradictory
perspectives by comparing the cruelty of an ancient time fluently with contemporary barbarism. By
viewing contemporary violence through the lens of Iron Age customs, he untangles the harsh truth
of human nature. Unlike other essays, which have focussed primarily on the historical background,
this essay will analyse the lexical aspects that colour these former and present times. By looking at
the extensive use of lexical oppositions and poetic devices, one can see the many layers Heaney has

The poem is enjambed across both lines and stanzas, which allows the reader to flow along in an
evolvement of thoughts. Moreover, past and present seem to merge smoothly since he easily
draws parallels between the ritual sacrifice from the Iron Age and the killings by IRA at the
time. The speaker moves from a detached observer to a puzzled participant, who senses the
linkage between the socialized violence of ancient and contemporary times. Other tools used to
link words, and thus meanings, together and to increase the fluency of the text are alliterations
and assonances. The dark sentiment in this poem is carried on a system of clear alliteration:
halter, nape, her neck, her naked and her nipples in the first stanza, a case of double alliteration,
and rigging her ribs , body in the bog , stones of silence , shaved head like a stubble , blindfold of a

Extrinsic motivation refers to motivating factors that are external, like money or grades. These
rewards provide additional satisfaction and pleasure that are not necessarily gained from the task
performed. On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from inside an individual and refers to
the person s inner desire for success (Coetzee et al, 2008). Outcomes based education has increased
the need for learners to take responsibility for their own education; as a result intrinsic motivation
has become more relevant. Intrinsic motivation happens when a learners self efficiency (personal
competence) and determination (personal control) to succeed occur at the same time. Developing
learners intrinsic motivation can help promote academic success (Dev, 1997).
To help learner reap the advantages of intrinsic motivation, it is essential to provide academic
activities that promote the development of

Neoliberalism Research Paper
Canada s previous conservative government signed a lucrative deal that would see the country
export $15 billion worth of light armored vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia. It is pertinent to note
that Saudi Arabia performs exemplarily poorly when it comes to observing human rights. The deal
was struck between the conservative government and Saudi Arabian National Guard, which mainly
protects the royal family. With a past record of consistently mistreating citizens with unpopular
views, there is little guarantee that the arms sale will not be used to violate innocent civilians
human rightsin the future. Intriguingly, the current liberal government has declared its
unwillingness to suspend the shipment. This paper explores realist and neo liberal... Show more

However, the government has consistently failed to associate the sale of light armored vehicles
with possible escalation of human rights violation in the future. Instead, the government has chosen
to emphasize the significant economic gains that come with the huge deal. Canada gains
enormously from its relationship with Saudi Arabia. Firstly, Saudi Arabia is one of the key
economies in the Middle East. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering
the fact that it is Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a
result of this there is a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for International
Trade Canada (ITC). It is worth appreciating the fact that the Canada and its allies perceive the
Middle East nation as a gradually stabilizing force. The fact that the light armored vehicles are
made in Canada means that they are a key source employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains
why the conservative government is reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of
contributing to

The Most Dangerous Game Analysis
In the short story, The Most Dangerous Game , Richard Connell uses multiple devices to create
suspense that readers may not be aware of. He uses figurative language, imagery, and the pacing
of his story to keep readers on the edge of their seats. In this short story, a hunter named Sanger
Rainsford meets General Zaroff, a friendly middle aged man on Ship Trap Island. The general
later reveals his true character through his gruesome actions. Figurative language is used
greatly throughout this short story. When one of Rainsford s comrades, named Whitney, asks
Captain Nielsen about Ship Trap Island, Whitney calls him fishy and worried at the time.
Though when the yacht passses the island, he admits that he feels the evil energy radiating from
it. In addition to that, when Rainsford finally reaches the island, he claims that he is safe from
the sea. On the yacht, Whitney declares that Captain Nielsen s fishy blue eyes held a look ...
never saw there ... . (Connell, page 1) Even the seafaring captain was terrified of Ship Trap
Island! This is comparing Captain Nielsen s blue eyes to a fish s eyes. His eyes are suspicious
and he is alert for any possible signs of danger to his yacht or crew. The captain is taking extra
precautions to ensure that they don t land on the deadly island, which causes the readers to wonder
what is so dreadful about Ship Trap Island. When Rainsford reaches the island, he claims that he is
finally safe from the sea. He realizes this from the muttering

Marked Woman Deborah Tannen Summary
Marked Women
In Deborah Tannen s article There is No Unmarked Woman she focuses on how women are
being misconceived and prejudged on solely the way they re dressed. The main point in the
article is that there is no such thing as an unmarked woman men have the option and women
simply do not. To be marked in the way Tannen states it is changing the meaning of a word by
simply adding a participle, but that participle has no meaning on its own. Deborah Tannen points
out that even in the English language marked is a staple of linguistic theory. By simply adding a
linguistic participle to a word that already has no meaning by itself can change the meaning of a
word. As Tannen states in her article that women must make a decision on how they wish to
appear on a day to day basis through their makeup, hair style, shoes, clothes, etc. When women are
choosing how to appear everyday they re trying to escape the preconceptions that men never really
have to face due to more narrow decisions. Tannen makes a good statement when she refers to the
research of Ralph Fasold in which men are actually marked. Fasold points out that girls are born
with fully female bodies, while boys are born with modified female bodies. Tannen writes. In
conclusion Tannen says how she s upset the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tannen seems to have a lot of assumptions which relate to events or situations that she has
encountered. While comparing and contrasting the style between men and women Tannen makes a
good point that hairstyles are something that sets women apart from each other. There was no
marine crew cut or oily longish hair falling into eyes, no asymmetrical, two tiered construction to
swirl over a bald top. Tannen states. She explains that for men, there are basically one or two,
hairstyles in the workforce leaving them with no choices, unlike women. Therefore, since men don
t have a choice unlike the men, women can automatically be marked or

My Hybrid Classroom Management Plan
My hybrid classroom management plan that combines the Canter and Canter Assertive discipline
style and Dreikur s Democratic Teaching and Management procedures allows me to incorporate
the students opinions and ideas into the classroom rules and procedures. This allows for a sense
of community and shared responsibility between both myself and the students to insure that the
rules are being met. By allowing the student to have a say in how the classroom will run day to
day makes them feel like they have a place and a value in the classroom. It is also important that I
foster a sense of fairness by upholding the agreed upon rules without any bias so that the student
know what to expect when rules and procedures are either followed or not. This helps the students
feel supported in the classroom as well as nurtures a safe and inclusive learningenvironment.
Throughout the last two field experiences my favorite part has been getting to know each of the
students in the classrooms. By the end of the semester it became very hard to leave them because I
had gotten attached and wantto continue to watch them grow. I have a feeling that having my
own set of students that I will work with every day over the course of a year will make it even
hard to let go. I love just talking with my students on a daily basis. This is something I will start
from day one of a new school year. I will start the school year off with focusing on just learning
about the students in my care by playing

The Deviance Behind Drunk Driving Essay
The Deviance behind Drunk Driving Many individuals in today s society wonder what pushes
people past a breaking point in which they become involved in actions not accepted by society,
such as stripping, prostitution, drug use, alcoholism and more. The reasoning behind this is
deviance. Deviance can be either positive (over conforming) or negative (under conforming).
When applying the subject of crime to a type of deviance, it falls under the negative category
because those who under conform in society have a tendency to reach their goals with non
accepted means. Considering the crime of drunk driving, many factors add up to develop a
reason why so many people do it. Merton s strain theory perspective explains the deviance
behind drunk driving very well, using its assumptions, key focuses, and root of deviant acts to
support it. Before focusing on Merton s theory relating to the crime of drunk driving, we first have
to recognize how sociologists understand the concept of deviance. Sociologists believe that
deviance is the result of unsuccessful socialization. With this being said, it makes sense that
deviance surrounds us because not everyone can be perfectly socialized to fit in civilization s
cookie cutter image. Those who cannot fit in tend to become deviant, where they then violate the
norms of society. Once those norms are violated, they are labeled as deviant and will continue to
become more deviant as others define them that way. Sociologists also believe that the

Resource Allocation
RESOURCE ALLOCATION
Resource allocation refers to the distribution of resources, and in particular finance, from the
centre to peripheral levels. It generally concerns broad levels of aggregated financial resources.
Budgeting implies the more detailed determination of precisely how these funds are to be used.
Given the importance we have placed on planning as a process that leads to action, budgeting and
resource allocation are major planning instruments.
Basis for Resource Allocation * Public goods and the rationale for public intervention. * Marginal
utility and cost effectiveness. * Allocative efficiency and cost benefit analysis. * Citizens
preferences and collective decision making. * Equity, incidence and ... Show more content on

The principal advantage of this technique is the fact that it forces managers to plan each program
package afresh. However, it demands more time and energy than conventional budgeting. The
advantages of the zero based budgeting approach include: * It forces the PM to thoroughly plan the
job before creating budgets. * It provides the PM with baseline information for monitoring and
controlling the project. * It records commitments made by the responsible individuals involved in
estimating the level of effort required for each task. * It develops the resource information needed
to calculate manpower requirements. * Completed during the proposal stage, it provides invaluable
information during contract negotiations. It also forms an excellent foundation for future change
control. * Forecast against the project schedule for each task, it generates cash flow
information.Despite all these advantages, the zero based budgeting method also sets the stage for
PMs to pile contingency upon contingency when examining each individual task ultimately over
budgeting the job.
2. Downward budgeting starts from the opposite direction. The assumption is that the value of the
project has been established, so it is known what the client is willing to pay to complete the work.
The budgeting process starts with a total price (fee) that is not necessarily related to the cost of
actually performing the work. The price has been

Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin
In every individual, a host of socio historical forces converge and influence the subject s ideas.
Consciously and unconsciously, the individual reflects the confluence of his or her history and
culture. In Sonny s Blues , a short story by James Baldwin, the dominant culture constricts the black
individual. Subject to the explicit and latent biases of a racist society, the black population of Sonny
s Blues attempt to endure oppression and suffering and survive in an unforgiving land. However,
they can thrive here with the hope and salvation provided by the communal center of African

Aware of the societal policies and practices discriminating against them, the African Americans in
Sonny s Blues perceive this societal oppression as a darkness surrounding them. The darkness in
Sonny s Blues is the metaphorical embodiment of their suffering and the eventual culmination of
that suffering: death. The narrator remembers the darkness in his youth, when he saw the
darkness coming, and the darkness in the faces (11), which frightened him. The narrator was
afraid of his destiny, afraid of the brutal reality awaiting him, afraid of the finality of death. He
hoped that the hand which stroke[d] his forehead [would] never stop [would] never die... that
there [would] never come a time when the old folks [wouldn t] be around... (11). This darkness,
the darkness of racism and the darkness of death, affects all the black populace of Sonny s Blues.
In response to this darkness, each black character copes in his or her unique way. The narrator
leaves the crime ridden projects of his youth to a better home, where he attempts, under societal
oppression, a stable life. Sonny attempts to escape the darkness by playing music and eventually,
doing heroin. The narrator, in enduring his pains, finds relative stability in family and work;

The Sex Trade Still Exists
No one said life would be easy. Every day is filled with trials and tribulations which must be
overcome to get to the next. What we face here in the United States is, as we see it, extreme. We
see homeless people, families struggling to get by, stock market failing, gas prices rising,
unemployment going up, and much more. But elsewhere, their struggles are different. Their
obstacles in life are more challenging than our measly problems in this first worldcountry. The sex
trade still exists, slavery among women and children, trafficking of girls and drugs, and so
much more. From the book Sold by Patricia McCormick comes a story about a girl named
Lakshmi and her struggles from the mountains of Nepal carried to Happiness House where she
was sold into the sex trade, and through it all is able to learn that, simply to endure, is to triumph
(16). Lakshmi grew up a poor mountain girl in a village in Nepal. From an early age she was
willing to do whatever it took to get a tin roof for her family. Let me go to the city. I can work for a
rich family...and send my wages home to you (1). Having a tin roof in their village meant they
had some money and they would be safe and dry form the rain. However, Lakshmi s stepfather
gambled away everything he owned and eventually even Lakshmi. Lakshmi lived and learned in a
Patriarchal world. From early on she was taught by Ama, her mother, what her identity in the world
needed to be. ...carry yourself with modesty, bow your

A single sperm cell going through the ejaculation process would first have to meet the age
requirement in order for it to be ejected out of the epididymus. Once rendered to be mature
enough, the sperm will wait in the vas deferens where the seminal vesicles will secrete fructose
rich fluid till an orgasm occurs in which the spermatozoa will be released. During an erection, the
sperm will be pushed towards the posterior side of the urethra along with several other fluids that
make up the semen. When the male ejaculates the sperm cell will travel the urethra till it reaches
the urethral opening in the glans, head , of the penis. Before being propelled into the vaginal canal,

The male reproductive system like any other system must have hormones aiding its several
processes in order for it to function well. In this system, male sex hormones are also known as
androgens with testosterone being the one most commonly known. Testosterone is only produced
two times in a male s life with it being secreted continuously and consistently once puberty begins in
order to enable the reproductive function. This hormone is responsible for the secondary sex
characteristics of males that develop during the course of puberty and providing negative feedback
to the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary. The production of testosterone is roused by the
luteinizing hormone (LH) stimulating Leydig cells. Meanwhile the follicle stimulating hormone
(FSH) is responsible for stimulating Sertoli cells to produce androgen binding protein (ABP),
thereby stimulating spermatogenesis. (mcb.berkeley.edu) In the course of puberty, males develops
certain sex characteristics that are then divided into either primary or secondary sex characteristics.
The primary sex characteristics include those that are directly involved in reproduction such as the
enlargement of the testes as well the production of spermatozoa. In males, prior to the first
ejaculation is spermarche, or the first production of sperm. This early production of sperm is often
fraught with genetic imperfections and the male may also be infertile for a short time. (Devin

Conversions of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides
Conversions of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides: 1 Propanol and 2 Pentanol Introduction One way
scientist gets alkyl halides is by using the manipulation of an alcohol. When alcohols are treated
with HBr or HCl; they can undergo a nucleophile substation reaction to generate an alkyl halide
and water2. Using the structure of the alcohols they are able to use SN1 or SN2 mechanisms.
For both these mechanisms though, the OH group must be pronated shown in Figure 1. R OH +
H Br+ R OH2 +Br Figure 1. This figure is the protonation of the OH group from the alcohol SN1
is a limiting mechanism that is a unimolecular nucleophic substation reaction. In this mechanism
it involves two steps, one in which the leaving group leaves and then forms a carbocation
intermediate, shown in figure 2. Then it is able to break bonds between carbon and making it
able for carbon to leave the group before the bond forming with nucleophile begins1. R OH2R+ +

Br resulting in the production of RBr While the mechanisms for SN2 is a biomolecular reaction.

is allowed to form a nucleophile, that then forms a transition state and then results in the final
product, as shown in Figure 3. + R OH2 RBr +H2O Br Figure 3. Figure 3 shows the attacking of Br

Functionalist Perspective On Divorce
Divorce is such a personal and common thing in America. There are so many couples who go
through the act of divorce every day. According to Kanewicher and Harris (2014), forty to fifty
percent of couples will end in divorce within the first few years of marriage. Divorce is the legal
dissolution of a marriageby a court or other competent body. There are many factors that may lead
couples into divorce. Some of those factors are, marrying too young, low education levels and
overall just lack of preparation (Kanewischer, 2015). Although divorce is common now, it was not
like this back in the late 1900 s. Divorce was not allowed and most of the time people did not want
to get divorce because of all the time and effort they put into their marriage.... Show more content

In general, children from divorced families did have more behavioral problems than children from
non divorced families. They continue to struggle with the behaviors well into their adolescence
stage and into their adult stage (Weaver, 2015). It makes maintaining relationships and trusting
others difficult. There are three different theoretical perspectives. Functionalist perspective, which
emphasizes the way in which the parts of a society are structured to maintain its stability.
Functionalists see the contribution that it makes to society. The conflict perspective, assumes that
social behavior is best understood in terms of tension between groups over power or the
allocation of resources, and political representation. The interactionalist perspective, which
generalize about everyday forms of social interaction in order to explain society as a whole
(Schaefer). In the topic of divorce, it seems as if the functionalist perspective explains it well. Most
of the people get a divorce because they are unhappy within the marriage. If the couple continued to
be married it could cause more problems such as affairs, theft, depression, etc., therefore ruining the
society s stability. Both individuals would be happier and there would be fewer dysfunctional
families. Through the functionalist perspective, the idea of divorce is

Energy Drinks And Athletic Performance
Introduction
Energy drinks, are beverages that contain large doses of sugar (up to a quarter cup per can),
caffeine and other ingredients, like the stimulatory herb Guarana and the amino acid Taurine. Dr.
Erin Duchan, a pediatrician and co author of a review of the current science about energy drinks
for athletes, published recently in The Physician and Sports Medicine, said There s good evidence
that caffeine is ergogenic (substance used for the purpose of enhancing performance) and it can, in
the right circumstances, improve athletic performance. (Duchan, 2014)
The aim of this investigation is to see whether Mother energy drinks increase athletic performance.
The hypothesis that will be tested is that If a person consumes an energy drink they will run further
in the beep test.
The independent variable is the Energy drink and the dependent variable is the athletic
performance how long someone can run the beep test until they can no longer run. In this
investigation there are various factors that need to be kept constant in order to achieve the best
results, these include the environment the place it is performed e.g. if one is performed on a tennis
court the second one will need to be performed on a tennis court, the weather conditions should be
similar, the energy drink type and amount, participants, time of day practical is performed and
participants should wear similar clothing in each test same shoes (running shoes) and type of
clothing,

  • 2. Kanye West 808 s And Heartbreak Interpretation Kanye West s 808 s and Heartbreak (2008) was a very significant album in the hip hop industry for many different reasons. The title of the album itself is significant because it is actually named for a type of automatic drumming machine that is commonly used throughout the hip hop industry today. It was created for rock bands that didn t have a drummer for monetary or other reasons, and it was just easier than having a drummer, but was very unpopular at first because of its fake sound. To many, the sounds it produced just wasn t the same in comparison to actual drum sets, which caused it to fall off the scene. Kanye West, however, uses the machine to create distorted, unique sounds instead of trying to get the sound of an authentic drum as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It actually discusses many of the same things as Paranoid (another song on the album) does, and again shows Kanye as frustrated with his ex. Specifically, Kanye discusses how his ex, Alexis Phifer, tried to control his life by making him her robot. He also talks about how she tried to dig up things from his past and how this led to the end of their relationship. Examples of lyrics that display this include Up late night like she on patrol, Checking everything like I m on parole, I told her there s some things she don t need to know, She never let it go, oh. This track again features the 808 drum machine in the background along with string instruments and other electronically produced sounds. The most interesting section of this song occurs from the three minute mark of the song until the end. In this section Kanye strips the autotune, 808, and other electronically produced sounds found throughout the rest of the album. Kanye continues to sing, but his voice has a much more natural sound to it and he is only accompanied by string instruments. It s an interesting twist from the rest of, not just this song, but the rest of 808s Heartbreak ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In total, 59 university undergraduates were studied. The study is conducted in UUM (Northern University of Malaysia) at Kedah, Malaysia. By using econometrics model, factors that influence the amount of money spending on beverage consumption were determined. The students usually drink beverages 6.47 times for one week. Beverages were more preferred by boys than girls. However, the beverages consumption is not significantly different on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their tastes may not be the same. George Bernard Shaw From the words, we can understand that not everyone has the same preferences. According to Jeffrey M.Perloff (2012), a consumer chooses between bundles of goods by ranking them as to the pleasure the consumer gets from consuming each. As consumers, we will consume a good which can give us a higher utility compare to others. III. LITERATURE REVIEW Before this paper is conduct, some journal articles have been review to determine which variables should be included in my own survey to get an accurate data set from the respondents of UUM student. Besides, through literature review, the methodology used by other authors is able to give a direction for the model that will be form in this paper. Through literature review from the journal with the entitled Advertising and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages, the author, Arch G. Woodside (1999) stated that advertisement has no significant impact on the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Through the literature done by the author, prices and income is included in the analysis of the model that has significant effect to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. • 4. A Sustainable Development UNCC100 ASSESSMENT TASK 2 Mazin Aouf S00168525 Isra Mobin Sustainable development has become each country s priority and to effectively achieve this growth many countries use natural resources in production to comply with the consumers needs, at the same time making sure that the future generations needs are also met (Repetto et al., 1989). Hence the use of natural resources in production is processed carefully and effectively yet, even with cautious dealings accidents occur which result in chaos. Similarly the Montara oil spill in 2009 caused chaos in the Timor Sea and its surrounding population immensely. On 21st August 2009 Australia witnessed one of its worst oil disasters, an oil and gas leak that occurred in the Montara oil field in the Timor Sea. The leak occurred due to an explosion and it finally ended on 3rd November 2009. During the leak and even years after the issue of compensation still hung above the company PTTEP Australasia (PTTEP AA). In this essay we will explore the incident through the perspectives of PTTEP AA, the people of West Timor and the marine environment. Henceforth we will come to the conclusion of how this ongoing issue can be best handled. The Montara oil spill lasted 74 days and during that time the oil spill effected the an Indonesian island s population, marine environment and caused reoccurring nightmares for PTTEP AA who were trying to seal the oil leak. PTTEP AA had the duty to secure the safety of the workers at the oil rig and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wealth, Power, And Privilege WEALTH, POWER AND PRIVILEGE Name: Course: University: Tutor: Date submitted: Introduction Inequality in the society has been an issue since the history of the universe and as we think we are bridging the gap between the rich and the poor we always find out that it is as a wide as it was. The poor will always exist in the society as the inferior group while the rich are the superiors who control various aspects and sectors of the society. The conflict theory explains that there is always a disparity that exists in the society due to the presence of limited resources as well as the variations in the skills and knowledge. It will always happen that in the society there are the wealthy and elite, the middle class people and the poor who have the lower status in the society. The children from these social statuses will always have varying education success, employment opportunities and eventually economic success (Zucman, 2014). The generations are likely to continue their status because the children from the wealthy families will continue having opportunities that the poor cannot access simply because they are the inferior people in the society. This is due to the increased need for the society to eliminate inequality, various theorists and psychologists have been for the past years trying to explain how inequality is introduced in the society, its causes, effects as well as some of the measures that should be taken to eliminate inequality in the society. • 6. Analysis Of Wood Lab In our density of wood lab, we were interested in learning more about densities of wood, how to measure density, the difference between softwoods and hardwoods, and how density and strength are related. In this lab, we utilized 10 different samples of wood blocks. By measuring each sample s Volume (Length x Width x Height) and mass, we were able to determine each sample s density(Mass + Volume). By measuring the sample s density and then determining what the sample was, we were able to observe the differences in the wood including color, grain, texture, and weight and its effects on the density of wood. Additionally, this lab gave us a better understanding of why it is important to understand wood density. When building a home or another woodworking project you want to be aware of the type of wood you are using and its density. If you are building a home or a piece of furniture you are going to need a wood that is strong and will last. Therefore, you will know you will need a dense wood like oak. But if you are creating a decorative, lightweight art piece you may want a less dense wood like Lati. It was interesting to see in this lab, that even though some samples were larger in size than other they still weighed less than the smaller, denser wood samples. This shows that even though you may have the right size wood, it may not be the correct density to complete the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At around 7:30 pm, our telemetry showed that the patient was having a heart rate of 180s to190s. We all were still getting report. Charge nursewent to assess the patient, patient started yelling in a loud voice, throwing pillows and a blanket. It turned out that the patient went to the delirium tremens (DT) phase. Hence, it was unfair to the patient as well as a nurse taking care of the patient. If he was given lorazepam as ordered, he would not have gone to DT and this would not have created any unnecessary stress on the nurses, doctors and patient care techs. This clinical case is related to the emancipatory knowledge. Emancipatory knowing is the ability to identify social and political problems of injustice and adds all the elements of experience and context to change a situation (Chinn, 2010, p. 63). As soon as charge nurse noticed that the patient had a change of status and tachycardia, she looked at the doctor s note, assessment data and MAR to figure out what was wrong with this picture and what needs to change. Evaluation Of A Strategic Management Process Introduction Most organizations put in place a strategic management process in order to identify long term objectives and put in place action plans that will contribute to the achievement of these long term objectives. The feedback control model is one of the many model used by management in order to meet strategic goals by monitoring and regulating the organizations activities (Daft, 2016, p.661). The provided feedback is used to determine if employees have met the standards or objectives set before them through their performance. This model is comprised of four steps: establishment of standards, measurement of standards, performance comparison in relation to standards and finally corrective actions, when necessary. This paper will analyze the Five Stars case in relation to these four key steps. The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican Empire that rose in power in the post classic period. From the 1300 s 1521, the Aztecs continued to increase their population and their influence in the Mesoamerican region, despite the upcoming nearby empires, such as the Tlaxcalan empire. This all changed with the arrival of the Spaniard, Hernan Cortez. Cortez was a Spanish conquistador under the rule of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand. Cortez contributed for the downfall of many empires, including the Aztecs. Even though conquering was not a part of the Catholics religion. The ancient Aztecs followed their religious beliefs more closely than did the Spanish Catholic Hernan Cortez. Unlike the Spanish, The Aztecs believed that there were many gods that contributed to everyday life patron god, Huitzilopochtli, communicated to the Aztec priest, Motecuhzuma, that it was time to migrate to another region. One of the most quoted Team development models was proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1960. The five developmental sequence are: Forming; Storming; Norming, Performing and Adjourning. In this paper, I have used this model to compare and contrast my experience with the MBA student team development exercise and my experience as PM in my current job. Why was my experience in these 2 environments, different? Stage 1 Forming: When enthusiastic individuals come together to form a team: For the exercise, the teams were pre assigned. Our team consisted of a diverse group of folks from the perspective of gender, ethnicity, age, professional background and experience. With the activity duration set at 1 hour, the team did both, introduction and understanding of the assignment at the same time. This team truly formed itself and equal leadership was established among the MBA students, within the first minute or two In the real world too, the project team members are pre assigned and they are excited and ready to contribute. Unlike in the exercise, in the real world, team members don t establish equal leadership. They look for a leader to lead and guide them. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Road- Brave New World Compare and Contrast Essay Differentiating Societies It is remarkable how differentiated works of literature can be so similar and yet so different, just by the way the authors choose to use select certain literary devices. Two different novels, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, and The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, display these characteristics because of the ways the authors institute such mechanisms. Brave New Worlddescribes a futuristic era where humans are genetically manufactured for a certain job predestined to them before they are artificially created, and where common human emotions, desires, wants, and needs have all been modified to support a deemed utopian society where everyone lives and works together in harmony. The Road describes a post apocalyptic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The characterization used by Huxley in Brave New World is one of significance and effectiveness for the point he is trying to convey. Huxley uses accurate, developed characterization and goes into great detail about the characters because this characterization ties into the plot. Since the theme of the novel reflects on how technology can change our world for the worse, by using accurate descriptions of the characters, their thoughts, and their actions, Huxley is able to more accurately show the audience how changes in a new society can contrast to the standards we have set for our society today. In addition, Huxley makes a special point to emphasize how material goods such as clothing can define a character in this society. Huxley purposefully establishes these simple social distinctions in characterization in order to emphasize the effect of the theme. • 33. Benefits Of A New Team When I was in Noida working for Headstrong, my team used to go out for lunch on special occasions. As that area had quite many options, sometimes we used to be in a fix as to where to go. Another reason for long decision making was because different people had their own tastes. And, few of them had even been to places we were zeroing in on and didn t want to go again. Now, that was a mess as it would delay our outings that were supposed to become a lifetime memory for a few at least! We tried to plan well ahead in advance, but that also had issues as people wanted to delay it to the last minute. We primarily relied on word of mouth recommendations and what we as a team preferred the most. All in all, it used to go just fine most of the times. However, i remember one incident when one of our new team members strongly recommended a restaurant to which his family were regular visitors for many years. He was giving mouthwatering description of the dishes available there and most of us melted like butter on a parantha and were looking forward to go there. Come the D day, being a foodie, i was especially charged up; but there was one delay after another as few of the folks were held up in meetings. It was way past my usual lunch time and finally, we went ahead around quarter to 3. We were all very hungry but to our utter disappointment we found the place closed. • 35. Review Of The Defense Of Globalisation BOOK REVIEW : IN DEFENSE OF GLOBALISATION INTRODUCTION: The subject of globalization can trigger a wide range of responses when brought up in a discussion. To its supporters, globalization represents advancement, monetary development, and promotes a better future. To its critics, it connotes greed, exploitation, and corruption. These assorted qualities of perspectives is maybe due to the way that globalization is naturally intricate and includes distinctive financial and social subtleties at different national and worldwide levels. Understanding globalization, in this manner, obliges one to perceive how these variables interrelate and impact each other. One text that makes a successful job of investigating these complex connections is Jagdish Bhagwati s In Defense of Globalization. Bhagwati, a Columbia University economics professor and author of numerous books on trade, makes all the right economic arguments, however without the flurry of factual connections frequently used to put forth the defense. Rather, he recounts the narrative of how globalization has conveyed a superior way of life in less developed nations, and how experiments with different avenues regarding protectionist import substitution policies have deliberately failed. However unlike numerous other texts on this subject, Bhagwati s presentation does not address the issue from a principally emotional point of view. Heaney succeeds in uniting two contradictory perspectives by comparing the cruelty of an ancient time fluently with contemporary barbarism. By viewing contemporary violence through the lens of Iron Age customs, he untangles the harsh truth of human nature. Unlike other essays, which have focussed primarily on the historical background, this essay will analyse the lexical aspects that colour these former and present times. The speaker moves from a detached observer to a puzzled participant, who senses the linkage between the socialized violence of ancient and contemporary times. Other tools used to link words, and thus meanings, together and to increase the fluency of the text are alliterations and assonances. The dark sentiment in this poem is carried on a system of clear alliteration: halter, nape, her neck, her naked and her nipples in the first stanza, a case of double alliteration, and rigging her ribs , body in the bog , stones of silence , shaved head like a stubble , blindfold of a soiled bandage . The attitude of the class depends on the attitudes of the individuals in the classroom, as well as the educator s attitude. The educators role is to use their knowledge, skill and behaviour to create an effective and positive learning environment in their classroom (Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman, 2008). Every individual identifies with a different theory and may be motivated differently. However, motivation, irrelevant of how it is achieved is either intrinsic or extrinsic. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivating factors that are external, like money or grades. These rewards provide additional satisfaction and pleasure that are not necessarily gained from the task performed. On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from inside an individual and refers to the person s inner desire for success (Coetzee et al, 2008). Outcomes based education has increased the need for learners to take responsibility for their own education; as a result intrinsic motivation has become more relevant. Intrinsic motivation happens when a learners self efficiency (personal competence) and determination (personal control) to succeed occur at the same time. The main point in the article is that there is no such thing as an unmarked woman men have the option and women simply do not. To be marked in the way Tannen states it is changing the meaning of a word by simply adding a participle, but that participle has no meaning on its own. Deborah Tannen points out that even in the English language marked is a staple of linguistic theory. By simply adding a linguistic participle to a word that already has no meaning by itself can change the meaning of a word. As Tannen states in her article that women must make a decision on how they wish to appear on a day to day basis through their makeup, hair style, shoes, clothes, etc. When women are choosing how to appear everyday they re trying to escape the preconceptions that men never really have to face due to more narrow decisions. • 46. The Deviance Behind Drunk Driving Essay The Deviance behind Drunk Driving Many individuals in today s society wonder what pushes people past a breaking point in which they become involved in actions not accepted by society, such as stripping, prostitution, drug use, alcoholism and more. The reasoning behind this is deviance. Deviance can be either positive (over conforming) or negative (under conforming). When applying the subject of crime to a type of deviance, it falls under the negative category because those who under conform in society have a tendency to reach their goals with non accepted means. Considering the crime of drunk driving, many factors add up to develop a reason why so many people do it. Merton s strain theory perspective explains the deviance behind drunk driving very well, using its assumptions, key focuses, and root of deviant acts to support it. Before focusing on Merton s theory relating to the crime of drunk driving, we first have to recognize how sociologists understand the concept of deviance. Sociologists believe that deviance is the result of unsuccessful socialization. With this being said, it makes sense that deviance surrounds us because not everyone can be perfectly socialized to fit in civilization s cookie cutter image. Those who cannot fit in tend to become deviant, where they then violate the norms of society. Once those norms are violated, they are labeled as deviant and will continue to become more deviant as others define them that way. Sociologists also believe that the ...
