3. Reasons for selecting this MOOC
Reasons why I have selected that specific MOOC
First and foremost, I want to help people and not spend my life in an office job
meeting arbitrary sales targets etc. I amdoing teaching, but found medicine as
more attractive due to the diversity it offers within scienceas well as the other less
commonly trodden areas. It’s also the knowledge and understanding I will haveof
the human body during and after my studies. it is an intellectually stimulating career
being engaged in medicine course regardlessof how many hours I have to put in.
Is it related to your field in education?
Yes it is related to my second major module which is life sciences, though life
sciences is a bit narrow compared to medicine but I still love it.
Is it a personal interest or hobby?
I love nature, human body, health, how human beings, animals and everything
interact. I am a curious kind of a being, I just love discovering and learning about

things that happens in the environment I live in and processes that take place inside
us. It is applying your knowledgeto benefit others and most importantly to me
however, I'll be able to sit back when I'mold and crusty and feel good about my
contribution to society.
4. Expectations
What I wish to gain from this MOOC
They say that variety is the spice of life and when you enter the public health field, I
want to gain more knowledgethan in my life science module already. I should be
able to diversifymy teaching career or chooseto focus on specific areas during it. I
will gain a foundation for college-level writing valuablefor nearly any field. I will also
learn how to read carefully, writeeffective arguments, understand the writing
process, engage with others' ideas, cite accurately, and craft powerful prose. The
efficient use of our healthcare systemis one of the most important topics in our
society today. With an aging population and increasing demand for individualized
and specialty care, healthcare will continue to be at the forefront of career choices
for students entering high schools and tertiary studies. Careersin healthcare
management are excellent opportunities for individualswhohave a talent for
effectiveand efficient management and the heart for helping others.
5. Introduction to MOOC community
A short paragraph that I can use to introduce myself to the MOOC
community
My name is mmasa Mogale. I was born and raised at Krugersdorp, Johannesburg. I
am currently a third year student teacher at the University of Johannesburg. My
major modules are life sciences and mathematics. I used to play chess during my
primary and high school days, and I was also in my high school debate team. I love
watching soccer, basketball and engaging in community projects to encourage
young learners to pursue their studies.
My love and passion for a teaching career actually began many years ago when I
was in high school. I loved how I engaged with my friends when I used to explain
school content to them. From there, I began to develop a strong interest in health,
physical fitness and nutrition, which guided me towards the kind of career path I
love, helping people live richer, fuller lives. I always loved nature, how biotic factors
interact with each other as well as the abiotic factors. I lovelife sciences, though
medicine is a bit broader, it adds more experience and knowledge.
