Aviation Facilities present the most challenging conditions for the installation of fuel
storage and fuel delivery systems not just in terms of fuel quality but also in terms of
dealing with strict site logistics.
TRL have a proven track record in providing the technical expertise to project
manage, design and construct high spec stainless steel installations and ultimately
deliver a clean, contaminant free product in this critical environment. TRL have
extensive experience in working within the constraints of high security locations with
restricted personnel access and rigid time curfews.

Work includes construction of new storage facilities, fuel farms and scheduled
maintenance programmes. TRL have the expertise to deliver high spec specialist
aviation fuel systems and work within secure locations.
TRL have experience in the design and construction of bulk fuel storage facilities that
form the infrastructure of mining facilities. We are able to mobilise expert teams to
handle large projects quickly and also handle the difficult logistics of remote locations
effectively. Utilisation of modular designs provide for the rapid, economical design &
construction of fuel farm projects, which are proven to operate well and can be easily
tailored to client specifications.
TRL tailor fuel storage solutions for a variety of new and existing industrial
applications such as power stations, smelting operations, chemical facilities,
manufacturing industries and transport facilities.
Industrial applications also include bunded wash down areas for vehicles or
machinery with separators for handling contaminated wash waters. These
applications include monitoring of cleaned water for disposal into the stormwater
system.

TRL pioneered innovative FRP (fibre reinforce plastic) tank lining technologies in Australia in the 90’s and are
now industry leaders in the field.
Since then TRL have gone on to develop the Australian application of a revolutionary double wall lining system
with continuously monitored interstitial spaces for above and below ground applications and helped in
establishing the Australian Standard for this technology.
The Tank Reline system is constructed using three dimensional (3D) open weave fibreglass filaments,
sandwiched between the primary layer and internal finishing layer creating an interstitial space which can be
continuously Hydrostatically monitored using a fuel or hydrocarbon sensitive solution.
Varying thickness can be achieved to suit all applications from 6.5mm to 8mm for typical retail service stations
and bulk storage projects, with up to 14mm for structurally compromised tanks.

Tank reline is the only system that fully complies Australia wide with AS 1940 - 2004, AS 4897 - 2008
as well as EPA, Work Cover and WH&S requirements.

TRL have experience with design and installation of bulk fuel storage depots and
have constructed large facilities for major petroleum industry suppliers such as BP
and Shell. TRL have also completed major project upgrades and extensive repair
work for these clients, including monitored double wall FRP tank relining projects.
TRL have provided services to the retail service station industry for over 25 years and
have installed and relined multiple tanks in over 200 service stations nationally for
major oil companies, fuel distributors and independents service station owners. TRL
have also undertaken tank relining projects in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea & the
Philippines.
TRL also specialise in the maintenance and monitoring of fuel installations
associated with backup generators systems such as those located in -
Older underground storage tanks constructed from steel can corrode and leak, leaving
property owners and managers liable for hazardous and environmentally damaging
leakage. Replacement can be a costly exercise in confined basement locations; TRL’s
double wall FRP monitored tank relining system is the cost effective solution.
TRL also design and construct fuel depots for the trucking industry and public
transport (bus depots, trains & ferry terminals). TRL also have experience with
ecologically sensitive sites such as ports and marinas.
