What is IATA BSP
Billing and Settlement Plan – A carrier neutral reporting/accounting system run
by IATA
A network of approved Agents who issue Airline Ticket on behalf of the Airlines
A clearing instrument to reconcile the sales by Agents to the Airlines that own
sales
Travel Agencies: Sell tickets on many carriers - Reports to one central point =
BSP
AIRLINE: Many sales outlets - Reports received from one central point = BSP
BSP Overview
BSP Overview

Accredited Agent issues E-ticket via General Distribution system
(GDS) .
Passenger pays and receives a E-ticket from the Agent
Airline carries the passenger
GDS sends ticketing information to the Data processes centre (DPC)
DPC, produces and uploads Reports on BSP link
IATA informs Bank about Remittance and Settlement amounts

Queue Management
Queue Management
A Queue is an automated file of PNR’s or messages, which require servicing or
handling. Each queue is identified by a number and optional queue identification.
A queue will hold either PNR’s, MESSAGES or PROFILE FILES but never a combination
on the same queue
Reservation System places PNR’s on queue based on the action required, such as
confirmation or schedule change notification.
The system determines correct queue placement of a PNR from the Subscriber
Identification (SID) in the first field

Editor's Notes

  1. Let’s try to clarify what Revenue Management means. If you ask 5 different people what’s the scope of Revenue Management you will probably get 5 different answers. What is Revenue Management? CLICK Is it inventory control? CLICK Is it forecasting? CLICK Is it optimization? CLICK What about market segmentation and Pricing? CLICK Some other terms that are related to Revenue Management are ‘class nesting’ and ‘overbooking’. In the following I will try to explain what all these terms stand for.
