To Whom it May Concern:
Every once in a great while, the job of being an adjunct professor at a state community college has a reward
that surpasses all others; a student who rises above their peers and leaves an impression on the faculty that
becomes etched indelibly as a measure of professionalism, scholarly success, and achievement. For the
Multimedia Technology Program at DBCC, and for me, that student is Anthony Traveis.
I had the pleasure of being Tony’s professor during the Fall 2002 semester at DBCC. I find few individuals
with the talent, desire, dedication, and professionalism that Tony exhibits. He consistently delivered
flawless assignments, managed his assignments with fervor, never failed to deliver required work, and was
always willing to provide input for improvement. He is a proven new media professional who is ripe for
placement in a position of responsibility.
Though I know Tony has not had the requisite specific experience in web design and development, I assure
you he is competent and capable. Having over 15 years of experience in electronic and interactive media
design and development, I can recognize valuable talented individuals, and spotted Tony’s abilities almost
immediately. An example of Tony’s ability to perform under pressure, respond professionally, and exceed
customer expectation for delivered product was demonstrated to me personally. As a part of the class
requirements, he was assigned to a production group for an extensive interactive CD-ROM assignment.
Within hours, Tony assessed the group’s abilities, recognized the limitations, and put in place a process and
production management plan that was crucial to the final project’s success. What was most amazing to me
was that he was able to pull it off without causing turmoil within the group or hurting any feelings. Having
worked in this environment before, I know what a delicate process that can be and he recognized it
immediately and performed with tact, professionalism and dedication normally found only in the
experienced and seasoned professional. The product was completed on time, with little or no production
problems, and far exceeded my expectations for a final project. I attribute this entirely to Tony’s
production management skills and his ability to keep his production group focused and excited about the
project.
Lastly, as a businessman, professional multimedia producer, project manager, and developer, I find Tony to
be one of those valued young talents that are highly sought after. He is without a doubt a solid presence in
this dynamic field, and he will go far. His research potential is outstanding, his energy and passion for the
multimedia field unmatched, and his organization skills would make any businessperson, faculty or staff
member envious. He typifies the whole person concept in the world of interactive multimedia, and is an
inspiration to everyone he comes in contact with. I would be more than happy to discuss his capabilities
with you, so please feel free to contact me if necessary. I enthusiastically recommend him without
exception.
Sincerely,
Peter C. Riley, Ed.D.
