2. Introduction
I recently started to read a book that had
been on my bookshelf for a few years; I am a
bit of a book junkie. In that book it states
that most people have a survival mentality,
in that they think life is to be “got through”
and endured, rather than an opportunity to
thrive. I believe that we are meant to be
happy and to thrive, to overcome obstacles
so that we can serve others.
Years ago I came to the understanding that
I was here to be of service; with the gifts I
have been given. So today I teach yoga,
write and speak on the topic of change, hope
and happiness.
I share these simple down to earth methods

of creating a new life in hopes that you will
find the happiness I have. The road to
success has not been a straight line, it has
been filled with u-turns, ups, downs and
small baby steps. I have faced fear,
depression, eating disorders, addiction, job
loss, grief and more.
The journey to happiness has been an
inward journey where I found that deep
within I was ok, I am ok and everything will
be ok.
Deep within you is love, compassion and
something so beautiful words can not
describe it. Find it and share it.
4. Buy a journal and commit to writing about your
life, your goals and your emotions. Every day for
the next 90 days, also journal 5 things you are
grateful for and 5 things you did well. At the end of
90 days ask yourself this. Am I the same person I
was 90 days ago ?

Make a list of past regrets and then list the
learning experiences you got from them, now
move them in your mind from regrets to a place of
gratitude. Without these experiences you would
not be who you are today.
Contact someone from your past that offered you
guidance or support, maybe an ex employer, teacher
or stepparent, thank them for their mentoring.
Start your day by reading from a book of daily
devotion. Ponder for a few minutes on the reading
and its lessons.
Use positive affirmations to set your day or get
you back on track when doubts and
negative thinking creeps in.

Call your parents, siblings, old friends or
children and tell them they are appreciated.
Make a list of the people who you feel you have been harmed
by and begin to work on forgiving them, remember forgiving
them does not mean you need to have them back in your life.
Forgiving sets you free.
Begin to exercise 3 to 4 times a week, walk, run,
weight train, dance, find your “thing” and do it.

Relax, it’s okay to not be doing something all the
time, take time just to sit.
Volunteer in your community you have gifts,
so get out there and share them.

Get outdoors for a walk, a run or a cycle. Or just
stand barefoot on the ground and lift your arms to
the sky. This draws in both cosmic and earth energy.
Plug into this free positive energy as much as possible.

Go sit by a lake; water one of the elements has
a healing affect on our body, mind and soul. Just sit.

Be patient with the elderly, listen to what they offer.
Our elders are sacred, we can learn from them.
Love yourself!! Counter the negative
dialogue with positive thoughts.
You are amazing. Trust me!
Keep an open mind, listen and think
about what you are hearing. Don’t
prejudge anyone’s opinion.
Stop the negative dialogue about your partner,
he or she has a right to be who they are. Change
yourself and see the world around you change.
