This document discusses the importance of women in society and some of the main problems still facing women today. It notes that women are essential but still face gender discrimination, lack of job equity, and issues like dowry and bride burning, domestic violence, child marriages, lack of property rights, and the status of widows. The conclusion encourages women to take advantage of the rights and chances available to them.
The document discusses women empowerment in India. It outlines several problems faced by women, including gender discrimination, lack of education, female infanticide, dowry, child marriage, and violence. Rural women in particular face issues like poverty, lack of mobility, and financial constraints. The document calls for addressing the status of women through education, awareness, self-help groups, government schemes, and promoting self-employment to empower women and take them "out of the darkness of life."
This document discusses the transformation of the Apostle Peter from an impulsive and overconfident man to a rock of the early church. It outlines key facts about Peter from the gospels, including that he was the first disciple called and the one spoken to most often by Jesus. As Simon, Peter was unembarrassedly self-confident and unquestionably impulsive. The document argues that two keys led to Peter's transformation: proximity to Jesus and developing humility and teachability. It encourages applying these lessons by prioritizing time with Jesus and cultivating true humility.

Social Media & Technology in Ministry: A Latino/a ApproachSamuel Robles Jr.
This is a workshop I put together for Hispanic/Latino(a) pastors and leaders. Most of the information that exists about social media is euro-centric, and not much exists about its value in ministry. This is an approach to social media in the Hispanic context, and serves as a "conversation-starter" for its potential in ministry.

You’ll find encouragement in this lesson if you are struggling in prayer. Some misconceptions about prayer are addressed and three simple reminders are given: prayer’s focus is God, prayer seeks the will of God, and we must live righteously.

What do the Bible says about the Kingdom of God? Is it something that we will see after we died? Is it something that we can experience while we are alive?
1. The document discusses a sermon about 1 Peter 5:1-11 where Peter addresses elders and younger members.
2. Elders are told to shepherd God's flock willingly and not lord over others, while younger members are told to submit to elders.
3. All are called to humility and casting anxiety on God, as the devil prowls to destroy believers. God will restore the suffering faithful.

Defining Bilingual And Multicultural at Arise Christian ChurchSamuel Robles Jr.
At Arise Christian Church, we define "bilingual" and "multicultural" unconventionally. This is how we define it, and effectively do ministry in our context.
Arise Christian Church is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibit in September and October 2009. The exhibit aims to showcase local Christian artists' work relating to Hispanic/Latino faith and culture. Artists may display and sell their original artwork at the free public event on Sundays from 10am-1pm. All artwork must be appropriate for a sacred environment and adhere to the exhibit's theme. The deadline to register for the exhibit is September 16.
This document summarizes a sermon given at Arise Christian Church about the biblical parable of two houses, one built on a rock foundation and one without a foundation. The sermon discusses how both houses experience adversity but the one built on the rock survives because it is well built and able to withstand challenges, just as obeying Jesus' words enables believers to endure trials in life. Worshippers are challenged to not just be interested listeners but obedient disciples who act on what they hear from Jesus.
This is a Resource Group I led/facilitated at the 2009 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indianapolis, Indiana entitled, "The future is 'at the hyphen.'"
The Resource Group revolved around the Hispanic/Latino(a) experience in the United States, and how the Church is and/or is not responding to it.
This was a great time of sharing, learning, and healing.
Here is a description of the Resource Group:
In English & en Español
Coined by Justo Gonzalez, “at the hyphen” helps express the current state and future of Hispanic/Latino(a) people in the United States. Many Hispanic/Latino(a) children, youth, and adults born in the United States are struggling with their identity and language. Engage in a dialogue about this difficult, yet important topic.

This past Sunday was the final part of our series, "Transformed: from the inside out."
There was great feedback @ Arise as a result of this series teaching.
This presentation (part 3) begins where part 2 left off.
This was a study I did for Pentecost Sunday 2009 at Arise Christian Church, a new church start in Central Florida.
This presentation opened up the opportunity for people to ask questions and share thoughts and experiences. It was wonderful!
What is not included is a short video that was shared about translating the Bible in one's own language from Wycliffe Bible Translators.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

4. Group Questions
What does “transformation” mean?
What does it mean to be “transformed?”
5. Romans 12:1-2
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your
everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work,
and walking-around life—and place it before God as an
offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing
you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your
culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix
your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out.
Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly
respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging
you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of
you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
- The Message
6. Why be “transformed?”
Paul makes a call for transforming the mind to
enable one to test what is good.
This transformation will change one’s ability
to measure reality differently than by the
measures of the world; the ability to
distinguish good and evil.
It will give you the ability to discern the correct
responses in situations: what is good,
acceptable, and perfect.
We are urged to develop an “intelligent faith.”
7. Being “transformed”
In Romans 12:1, Paul begins his exhortation
with the mention of “worship.”
Sacrifice is part of transformation.
The effects of your sacrifice are life changing
(transforming).
It’s a transformation from the inside out. It’s
“more than meets the eye.”
Why be transformed? So ultimately, through
your life, God is praised!
