QUALITY OF TRANSFORMER OIL:
1) Transformer oil should be free from moisture and suspended particles.
2) Flash point should be > 160®C.
3) Viscosity should be 30 at 15 ®C.
4) Density should be 0.89.
5) KOH (alkali) in transformer oil should not be more then 0.03/1gm of oil.
6) Moisture should be less than 35ppm.
Out of the above properties, the transformer oil should be filtered or replaced.
TESTING OF TRANSFORMER OIL:
1. BDV TEST

4. MOISTURE TEST
SHUT DOWN MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST OF TRANSFORMER:
1. Obtain PTW and ensure isolation of power supply.
2. Cleaning of transformer body properly.
3. Cleaning of bushing with non-fluffy cloth.
4. Check the tightness of primary and secondary side cable connection and healthiness of
Expansion bellow.
5. Check any crack or damage on the bush.
6. Check TX. Oil leakage.
7. Check Breather Silica jell (blue, when dry)
8. Check for oil in the Breather Housing cup, if required top up.
9. Check the oil level in the Conservator tank.
10. Clean the radiator pins and check for any leakages.
11. Clean the marshalling box.
12. Check the tightness of control wiring in the marshalling box.
13. Check the oil pump motor condition &it’s IR value.
14. Check the fan motor condition &it’s IR value.
15. Check the buchholz relay, oil level indicator pressure gauge, temp.indicator (WTI, OTI).
16. Check BDV of TX. Oil.
17. Close the PTW after work completed.
ELECTRICAL FAULT IN TRANSFORMER:

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST OF HT BREAKER:
1. Ensure power isolation with work permit.
2. Draw out the breaker carefully.
3. Clean breaker with blower/brush/marking cloth.
4. Check control circuit tightness.
5. Check panel Indication lamps working condition.
6. Check the service/test position limit condition.
7. Check the freeness of breaker rack in/ rack out mechanism, apply lubricant.
8. Check the breaker spring charging motor condition.
9. Measure the resistance of closing coil and tripping coil.
10. Check the multi-function meter condition.
11. Check the IR value of all poles pole to pole and pole to ground.
12. Check the relay setting.
13. Close the work permit after completion of work.

SHUTDOWN MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST OF ESP :
 Obtain PTW and ensure power isolation of ESP Section.
 Clean the Electronic Control Panel and check tightness of all wiring terminal connection.
 Clean the ERM& CRMControl Panel and check the tightness of all wiring terminal
connection.
 Clean the body of ERM/CRM Motor & Check Power Cable tightness in TB.
 Check WR/IR Value of CRM/ERM.
 Check all the Space Heaters conditions, if require replace with new heaters.
 Clean all the Shaft Insulator and check its condition, if damaged replace it.
 Clean all the Support Insulator and check any damage, if require replace it.
 Disconnect Knife Switch (-ve) of Rectifier and clean the Bushing Insulator.
 Clean the Rectifier TX. Check silica Jell condition, check transformer Oil Level, if require
top up it.
 Check the IR Value of ESP Field.
 Now normalise the Knife Switch of RTX.
 Take trial of OC/SC Test ,after getting clearance from other concerned Departments.
 Close the PTW after work completed.
