The film trailer follows horror genre conventions with an MPAA splash screen, production logo, and establishing shot at the beginning. It shows the monster only partially and in shadows to create mystery and persuade viewers while still adhering to showing the monster as little as possible. Tense moments have high-key lighting instead of the low-key lighting typical of horror to remove the connotation of safety usually associated with high-key lighting.
