5G Enablers > Feed Summary
5G is the latest mobile telecommunication standard which is expected to commercialize by 2020. Its objectives include high spectrum
efficiency, low latency, simultaneous data speed of 1Gbps to multiple users, wider coverage, and lower power consumption. Currently, the
standard is in design and testing phase.
• Inclusions: Companies providing technologies that can enable the
commercialization of 5G in the future. Include software and hardware
solutions that automate, optimize the network (SON), solutions that
reduce the latency (MEC), solutions that enable faster deployment and
centralized control (SDN, NFV) of the network, and solutions which
provide high capacity backhaul using millimeter wave spectrum
(mmWAVE). Some of the companies are currently not providing the
solutions directly to the telecom industry but have the technology that
can be utilized in the commercialization of 5G in future.
• Exclusions: Excludes every other part of the Telecom value chain:
infrastructure (equipment, software), operations (OSS/BSS, system
integration), which is not related to the 5G standard. Excludes large
equipment vendors like Ericsson, Nokia Networks, Cisco which are
adding these technologies in their product portfolio. Also excludes
semiconductor/chip manufacturers
• Excludes funding information of Chinese companies Feed in Numbers
