- A large amount of information is spread all over the web. This has made the task of searching for a specific content relevant to our context very tedious. There are 25M FB content been shared every month 72hrs Youtube video uploaded per minutes This figures show how big the content on the web available for us as a web user to consume
- Using an early version of Yahoo web users could navigate directly to content by traversing a hierarchical tree of category labels. Basically the Yahoo portal consisted of links to web pages which were manually organised into hierarchical tree of categories (taxonomies) such as Art, Business, Computer and Economy. The hierarchical structure in Yahoo directories allowed information seekers to browse but not search for relevant content.
- Because of this there are creation different stream for information curation help users find contextualised information .. - Basically there 4 main steps/process for curation. The job of the curator is to find, organise and annotate and share content that is relevant, interesting and useful.
