• Curated web will continue to grow then it will
reach the scale of the current web so that it
can be fully utilised and benefits to both the
curators and individual internet users.
A large amount of information is spread all over the web.
This has made the task of searching for a specific content relevant to our context very tedious.
There are 25M FB content been shared every month
72hrs Youtube video uploaded per minutes
This figures show how big the content on the web available for us as a web user to consume
Using an early version of Yahoo web users could navigate directly to content by traversing a hierarchical tree of category labels. Basically the Yahoo portal consisted of links to web pages which were manually organised into hierarchical tree of categories (taxonomies) such as Art, Business, Computer and Economy.
The hierarchical structure in Yahoo directories allowed information seekers to browse but not search for relevant content.
Because of this there are creation different stream for information curation help users find contextualised information ..
There are services for social bookmarking - online service which enables users to add, annotate, and share bookmarks of web documents. for example application like delicious, digg and diigo
Content aggregation –buzzfeed - Aggregation technology helps to combine a number of websites into one page that can show the new or updated information from these sites
content curation – the place where people find, group, organize and share most relevant content on specific issue online. storify, paper.li, scoop.it, pinterest -
Basically there 4 main steps/process for curation.
The job of the curator is to find, organise and annotate and share content that is relevant, interesting and useful.
