while making use of the commercial provision of services.
• Environment - the sum total of all surroundings of a
living organism, including natural forces and other living
things, which provide conditions for development and
growth as well as of danger and damage.
3. How travel and tourism has changed in
the past five years
1. Booking a holiday:
Then: Making phone calls to book hotels/airlines, travel agents
Now: Online booking, smartphone travel booking apps.
4. 2. Where to?
Then: Places that are clichéd, conventional, traditional (London,
Paris, Las Vegas, or Bangkok)
Now: Places that are offbeat, unconventional. (North Korea, Gate
of hell , Home of Hobbits)
5. 3. Checking out the place:
Then: Guides, guidebooks, maps
Now: Google Maps, GPS, smartphone
travel apps
4. Solo Travelers and weekenders:

one or two (at the most) vacations per
year
Now: New-age solo travellers
6. 5. Keeping in touch:
Then: Cameras with roll, postcards, calling
cards, pen pals
Now: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Skype,
WhatsApp etc.
6. Travel offers and discounts:

7. A PESTEL analysis is a framework or tool used by marketers to
analyze and monitor the macro-environmental (external
marketing environment) factors that have an impact on an
organization. The result of which is used to identify threats and
weaknesses
8. PESTEL analysis is used to analyze international companies as
well as industries that are engaged in exporting and depend on
international markets. In tourism, one might use PESTEL
analysis that helps assessing the global behavior of tourism
demand.
9. • Political
Open borders-Governments’ decisions to open up borders to
foreigners
Government stability-Examples include Syria, Iraq, and recently
Hong Kong.
Tax incentives- Claim a tax refund on products purchased during
their trip
10. • Economic
Rising disposable incomes-As the world economy grows,
individuals are able to earn more and more.
Sharing economy - individuals exchange goods and services
(Uber, Airbnb, YandexTaksi)
11. • Sociocultural
Social pressures-travel is fashionable. With the rise of social
media, individuals now have a constant, online presence, and
they want to use that to impress.
Racial acceptance-their skin color, faith, religion and races
12. • Technological
Better transport- Buses, trains, and planes are also more
comfortable than previously, and feature new amenities such as
WiFi connectivity or charging ports.
• Legal
Legal requirements- marriage certificate to book hotel
13. • Environmental
Transport pollution- Buses, trains, and airplanes = Carbon
dioxide = global warming and other environmental phenomena
Tourist negligence-tourism can cause pollution on a local level. In
some cases, tourists may be less respectful of a destination than
of their hometown, causing them to litter and/or contaminate.
