• A tour is an organized trip that people such as musicians, politicians, or theatre
companies go on to several different places, stopping to meet people or
perform.

4. TYPE OF TOUR
• Domestic tours: involve residents of the given country traveling only within
their own country.
• Outbound Tour Operators: take residents from one country to travel in another
country.
• Inbound Tours: involve non-residents traveling in another country. Companies
that provide local assistance for tours arriving in their country or town are
called Inbound or Receptive Tour Operators. They are commonly used on
international trips, particularly where language issues are part of the mix.
These companies make the local arrangements for airport pickup and delivery,
arrange for activities, hire local guides, attend to all the details of the stay, and
help in emergencies.
5. • Independent tours: the itinerary is set by the traveller/carried out by individuals on
their own.
• Domestic independent tours (DIT) /foreign independent tours (FIT) are custom-
designed by a wholesaler or travel agent .FIT A foreign itinerary that is individually
constructed and does not involve a package tour.
• Escorted tours : Pre booked through travel agency and being done with company
representative guiding all the tour. This kind of tour is a group tour which uses the
services of a professional tour manager. The escorted tour is a structured programme
of sightseeing, meals, transportation and accommodation. The professional tour
manager is in charge of all arrangements. Special-interest tours are generally escorted
tours.
• Hosted tours: host or guide by local operator to provide local customs.
• Group tour: gathered minded people in presence of a fixed itinerary .
• Sightseeing Tours: Sightseeing can be done in various ways, and although the most
popular tends to be sightseeing by tour bus or coach, some companies offer
sightseeing walking tours, like those through the streets of New York where areas like
Harlem and the World Trade Center Monument will be on the itinerary.
6. • Shore Excursion Tours Shore excursions are offered as part of a cruise ship
itinerary which can include river cruise ships, charter yachts, and other boats.
Cruise liners hire shore excursion guides to provide the tourists going ashore with
the best possible trip within a short timeframe.
• Adventure or Sporting Tours Adventure tours are extremely popular and provide
people with an exciting way of travelling. Adventure and sports fanatics can enjoy

9. • The package tour: A prearranged combination of not fewer than two of the
following tourism services when sold or offered for sale at an inclusive price
and when the service covers a period of more than 24 hours or includes
overnight accommodation:
• transportation –air, sea, road, rail etc.to/from destination
• Accommodation –hotels, guest houses, cottages etc.
• other tourism services such as transfers between air/sea port and
accommodation at destination, accounting for a significant portion of the tour
package
Often package holiday can include the following additional elements:
• meals –breakfast, half board or full board
• Supplementary services –events, city sightseeing, theme evenings
• Entertainment –animation etc.
• Insurance –and other ancillary services

either by designing shorter tours and
allowing travellers to combine them
together in various ways.
11. • All-inclusive tours: An all-inclusive tour includes the coverage of all costs in the
unit price except for personal items. This usually means the coverage of all air
and land arrangements such as transportation, accommodation, meals and
sightseeing.
• Incentive trip: Journey for the staff of an enterprise or for the members of a
professional group to reward or encourage them. The costs of incentive trips
are largely or partially borne by the hosts
• Combined Tour means the combination of two or more Cruises prearranged by
the Company and offered for sale as a single Holiday Package. For any relevant
purposes, the Combined Tour shall always be considered as a single and
indivisible Holiday Package.
