5. Low VOC Soy Based Inks
Solvent Free Ink Reduces the Environmental Impact
of the Printing Process
Overview
Soy inks use a soy oil base instead of a petroleum base.
VOCs (volatile organic chemicals) are used in inks for
quick drying purposes.
0% VOC soy based inks use soy oil which is renewable
and sustainable.
Benefits
Soy beans require much less water in the growing process as
compared to other vegetables processed for oils.
Soy oil is clearer providing for brighter ink colors.
Up to 15% less ink is required in the printing process.
Low VOC ink releases fewer harmful chemicals into the environment.
Soy inks are easier to remove in the recycling process due to the higher
oil to pigment ratio.
