Behavior
•It is the response of the organization or organism to
various stimuli or inputs, whether internal or external,
conscious or subconscious, overt or covert and
voluntary or involuntary.
•An attempt on the part of individual to bring some
state of affairs. (Osorio, 2006, p.49)
•Any activity which can be observed, recorded and
measured.(Crowder)
Human Behavior
•Refers to the complete range of physical and
emotional behaviors that human engage in.
•Influence by culture, attitudes, emotions, values,
ethics, authority, rapport, persuasion, coercion and or
genetics.
•Is a complex interplay of three components, actions,
cognition and emotions.
•It occurs anywhere and everywhere.
Human Behavior
•In a professional organization, it is at the core of
leadership, followership, communication, decision
making, participation and the processes, rules and
regulations in the organization.
•The execution and practice that differ from person to
person, group to group or from one country to
another country.
•Similarly called Human act which is different from Act
of Man.
Human Act
•Individual can make a conscious decision whether or
not to carry out the act.
•They are done freely, deliberately and voluntarily.
•These are actions that are proper to humans, thus the
crucial element of willful consent and knowledge of
the action must be present.
Act of man
•Natural act of vegetative and sense faculties.
•Performed by individual who is forced to do so at the
risk of his own life.
•Constitute unconscious and involuntary actions.
Reasons for studying human behavior
•To have a deep understanding of the actions,
attitudes, values, cultures, practices of people around
us.
•The need to comprehend the behavior of others.
•To know how to react to others actions, respond to
their messages.
•To anticipate and predict how other may act in a
certain situation since we are affected by their action.
