This document discusses the top 5 trends in big data and analytics for 2016. It notes that in 2015, big data became more mainstream as companies realized the importance of all types of data for decision making. Going forward, tools that support unstructured and huge volumes of data will continue growing and integrate better with existing IT systems. The trends discussed are: increased adoption of NoSQL databases in enterprises; rapid growth of Apache Spark usage; continued movement of Hadoop implementations from proofs-of-concept to production; maturation of Hadoop implementations; and growth of cloud-based data warehousing with increased competition among vendors.
