Tongue Drive System is an assistive technology that allows people with severe disabilities to control devices with their tongue. It uses a small permanent magnet pierced on the tongue and magnetic sensors on a dental retainer to track the tongue's motion. The sensors send signals to a microcontroller that processes the tongue's position and movement. This allows users to wirelessly control wheelchairs, computers, phones and other devices through natural tongue gestures. The system provides an effective control option as the tongue is generally spared from spinal cord injuries and neuromuscular disorders.
