IMPORTANCE OF A TITLE

A title shows what the film is about and what it may include. In a film a title
is one of the most important aspects. This is because it is a quick way of
promoting the film. This may be through word of mouth aiding publicity,
attracting people to come and watch the film if they are intrigued by the title.
Some film titles may not show what the film is about but may be iconic if the
film is well known. For example the film ‘Rocky’ is much more interesting
than ‘Rocky: the champion boxer’. This shows how much of an impact a title
can make as people may become more interested due to the title.
OPENING CREDITS - CAPE
        FEAR

Opening credits show who produced the film, they also
show who will be starring in the film. This helps an
audience to have a better understanding about the film if
                         they do not already know.
If someone famous produces or stars in the film it may
show what genre the film will be associated with. E.g. Tim
Burton’s films are mainly horror. It is also in the name
showing who is given the ‘credit’ for participation in the
film and also production. As the production of the film is
also shown, this increases the recognition of the
production company as well as crediting it.
They also help to set the scene of the film, if the film
went straight into the action it may be seen as confusing
to the audience. Credits help the audience to relax and
prepare for the film in anticipation for the film.

OPENING SEQUENCE FOR OUR
                       THRILLER

As a group we have decided to keep the title short. This
would enable us to show exactly what the film is about,
and can make it easier to remember. We would also
make it specific to the genre. During the credits we
would make sure to include the actors names to promote
them. We would also include the production company as
this shows who produced the film, this helps to promote
              the company like the actors.
