Title: Nanotechnology in Communication
Thesis: Nanotechnology innovation is the mixture of extreme developed technology and a responsibility towards its making.
I. Nanotechnology and its initiative should have a motive to bring a revolution to the world as in the industrial sectors, medical sectors, food safety, transportation and many more. These vast developed technologies should be as good as to build the trust to the society and prepare to go long way to the futuristic innovations.
A. Main ideas: Responsible Innovation
1. Responsible development of nanotechnology implies sensitivity to public perceptions and public trust.
a. US scientists and policymakers thought that the public might turn against the nano-development like GMOs in Europe with the feeling of risk and lack of trust.
b. As with the developing nanotechnology, the understanding among the society and the technology is required to fully function and provide all the benefits to the public.
c. The nanomaterial research, however, implies to manage the risk to the public for the production, application and use by applying the safety and well-being for the long-term.
2. Preserving the environment, human health and safety with the new development of nanotechnology.
a. The nanotechnology helps to convert the pollutants in harmless materials to filter the air out such as manganese oxide which absorbs the toxic gases.
b. The nanotechnology helps to improve the quality because it contains carbon nanotubes, zeolites which can be used to improve the quality of water.
B. Main ideas: The problem of communication of nanotechnology to the public.
1. The responsible technology development interacted towards the failure of the development of the nanotechnology due to lack of public awareness, acceptance to the new technology.
a. Lacking relevant information based on the material provided by the mass media.
b. Wrong information and misinformation from the mass media influencing public attitudes towards nanotechnology and failed to communicate with public.
c. Lack of knowledge in nanotechnology communication make an information difficult for the public to comprehend.
C. Problems like deficits; heterogeneity; attitudes influenced by values and emotions.
a. People based with the nanotechnology knowledge poorly and hardly familiar with the technology, harbors misconceptions, and has difficulties understanding central concepts.
b. Differentiate of knowledge and understanding between subpopulations in society, making it difficult to develop communication strategies; religiosity and gender affecting perception and implications on how information is understood and how people interpret nanotechnology related information.
c. Role of values and emotions ruining the theme of how nanotechnology develops and the obstacle lacking to communicate with public.
d. Having less consistent with values and emotions leading to disbelief the provided information.

Discussion Board Instructions
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Each forum is an opportunity for the class to respond to a specific question or topic posted by the instructor that corresponds to the readings and study for that week. The initial post of at least 250 words should be informed from the readings, the Bible, and a reflection of the student's thoughts of those readings and experience with the topic. The discussion though written, should be thought of like a verbal conversation, with people responding to one another's questions. If someone asks you a question about your post, respond and do not leave them unanswered, which means you'll have to check your own posts occasionally. You should read as many of your classmates' posts as you have time for. You may reply to as many as you like but are required to reply to at least two of your classmates with comments (in 100 words) that contribute new content to the conversation. Use appropriate citation and a full reference incurrent APA format.
The grading rubric will be your guide to what is required in each discussion's post and replies.
Initial posts are due by 11:59 (ET) on Thursday of the assigned module/week, and your replies by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the same module/week.

Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology has a wide scope of applications. Consequently, the societal and economic promise is equally high. The competition for leadership in this field has brought about several public policy issues. The United States, for example, is among the global leading investors in nanotechnology. In 2000, the US government started the first nanotechnology program nationally. Billions of money have been invested in the technology, currently accruing to US $ 20.9 billion, including 2015 financial year (Sargent Jr., 2014). Nanotechnology impacts our lives today, socially, economically, ethically, environmentally, and in many more ways.
In 2000, the Human Genome Task was launched, as a precursor to later applications of nanotechnology. There were civil debates with respect to the Human Genome Task that ethical and sociological reflections should accompany, rather than take after technological investigation and development. Engineers and policy makers have learned from such past, eminently from consumer disasters in use of genetic modifications, and how it affects people. Therefore, they invite the cultural and social sciences that can help analyze and mediate achievable conflicts. That is by all accounts an extraordinary chance for social and cultural scientists to activate partnership designs with engineers, such that both parties can massively pick up from one another, for the overall benefit with the society, provided that both groups learn from each other and respect their unique perspectives, goals, and problem approaches.
Nanotechnology research is indispensable, with the current stage of nanotechnology use. According to Schummer, (2014), Interdisciplinary research in nanotechnology guarantees extraordinary results. Nanotechnology is still not fully optimized. At the present state, cultural and social scientists hope to partner with people and engineers, to be effective on "societal along with ethical implications regarding nanotechnology". They are confronted with two problems which can be caused by nanotechnology's immaturity.
Nanotechnology's immaturity carries a conceptual and a social aspect. Conceptually, the lack regarding meaningful definitions of nanotechnology has led to the situation that in most parts, the science along with engineering disciplines, analysts relabeled their cutting-edge to do the job "nano", without having much new in keeping with, and without exhibiting any remarkable penetration of interdisciplinary research.
Nanotechnology’s Immaturity and Media Influence
In the ordinary circumstances of media buildup, cultural and social scientists could experience difficulties in choosing what studies they should consider "nano", such that their decisions may depend preferably on media scope and experienced guarantees, than around the particularities of a specific research project.
The prevailing articulation connected with nanotechnology in visionary terms, would be the social aspect connected with nanot.

Abstract Ethical and societal issues concerning justice,
safety, risks, and benefits are well-established topics in
the discourses of nanotechnology innovation and devel-
opment. That nanotechnology innovation should be so-
cially and ethically responsible is generally accepted by
scientists, policymakers, regulators, and industry, and
the idea of public involvement and communication is
part and parcel of the conceptualization of responsible
technology development. This paper systematically re-
views the social science research literature accumulated
between 2002 and 2018 on the communication of nano-
technology. A critical and constructivist perspective on
policy problems guides the analysis. Two questions are
asked of this literature: what problems are identified
regarding the communication of nanotechnology to the
public? How can these problems be managed and/or
resolved? Three different problem themes are identified:
the public, societal institutions, and nanotechnology
itself. While for some identified problems, there are
corresponding solutions; in other instances, there is little
alignment between problems and solutions. In conclu-
sion, the paper recommends that in communicating
nanotechnology to the public: (i) the objectives of com-
munication should be defined; (ii) previous research
should be used responsibly; (iii) communication strate-
gies should be adapted to the context; and (iv) effort
should not be spent trying to develop a generic frame-
work for communication.

Advanced Technology Benefits and Drawbacks among Gen Z and Baby boomer.pdfRhealynManlambus
A research paper about Technology's Benefits and Drawbacks among Gen Z and Baby boomer. This is the result of a lengthy process that involves research, critical thinking, evaluating sources, organizing, and composing. Just a brief summary of what we accomplished and a reference to the articles so that readers can learn more about the specifics. Simply using sentences to summarize the work that has been published in a single paper and connecting all the papers/sentences into a narrative is an effective approach to think about this. A research paper is just an essay that has been broadened to include your own analysis, judgment, or justification. When writing an essay, you draw on all of your personal knowledge and understanding of the subject. When you write a research paper, you build on your existing knowledge of the issue while consciously seeking out the opinions of experts. In order to find the best data in a subject of study, a research paper entails conducting a field survey. And if you know how to approach the survey, it can be well-organized and narrow in its purpose. You won't get lost in a sea of sources, so don't worry.

Running Head: Incorporate Your Quantitative Research
Incorporate Your Quantitative Research
Sunday, May 10, 2015
Chosen method(s) of qualitative research:
The methods I am going to use for my qualitative research paper are methods such as interviews, Internet search, and the library.
Hypothesis:
Technology is technology is running at an exponentially increasing rate. This has been really good in the medial field but bad to some people who can’t keep up or simply don’t want to convert to new technology.
Basic information:
The use of cell phones and computers in countries around the world has risen in the past three years, and dramatically so since 2002. In the 16 nations where trends are available, the median percentage of adults owning a cell phone was just 45% in 2002. By 2007, that number had risen to 70%, and in 2010 the median reached 81%. The increase in cell phone ownership was especially noticeable in Russia and Kenya, where cell phone use rose from less than one-in-ten in 2002 to nearly two-thirds in 2010. Cell phone ownership also rose rapidly in Jordan (up 59 percentage points from 2002 to 2010), Argentina (49 points), China (40 points) and Indonesia (38 points). The number of adults who say they use a computer at least occasionally has also risen in the 16 nations where trends are available. In these nations, the median percentage of computer users was just 32% in 2002, but rose to 39% in 2007 and 50% in 2010. In five of these nations, computer use saw a double-digit increase from 2007 to 2010: Russia, Argentina, Turkey, China and Kenya. Furthermore, I wanted to look more into how technology has improved healthcare, and I found how that technology has played a huge role in Anesthesiology. Anesthesiologists help ensure the safety of patients undergoing surgery and childbirth. The anesthesiologist provides care for the patient to prevent the pain and distress they would otherwise experience. Without the help of technology, Anesthesiology wouldn’t be a reliable as it is today. Anesthesiologists use technologies such as gas analyzers; arterial pulse oximeters, electronic infusion pumps, advanced airway devices, portable ultrasound, and echocardiographic imaging have reduced the mortality directly attributable to anesthesia (the Rector and Visitors). This has helped doctors perform surgeries minimizing the chance of error.
Your interpretations of the data:
There is much more quantitative research about the numbers and data I can talk about, but I will save that for the future projects. However, I did include a lot of factual information. My interpretation about the data is good. I believe that technology is growing and will keep growing.
How this research supports your thesis statement:
Technology is helping save lives, help workflow, and better the world. Some of the most significant changes that technology has delivered in the last three decades have been in the field of productivity and communication. The fax mach.

In the recent years, there has been a significant revolution in mobile technology and the entire electronics industry. In fact, major technology companies have made significant milestones in the industry such as developing cell phones which can detect the fingerprints of an individual. Also, mobile technology has eased global linkage, and proximity is insignificant because communication can be done from anywhere in the world. Mobile phones have had a significant effect on our culture especially reducing human interaction and making most people spend all their time on their mobile devices. This study, therefore, seeks to determine the impact of mobile technology on culture.

Unit 1: Module 1 - M1 Assignment 3
Assignment 3: Views on Diversity
Pablo believes that diversity is the most important issue in our culture, and that it is greatly underemphasized. On the other hand, Ralph rarely thinks of diversity, except when it is mentioned in the workplace. Monica is sensitized to multicultural issues because her parents are immigrants who still struggle with discrimination after being here for 20 years.
To obtain a cross-section of what people think about diversity, conduct five-minute interviews with three individuals you don't know well, and assess their views on diversity. You have been provided an
Informed Consent
document for the respondents to sign along with verbally consenting to participate in this assignment. This is to enable that the respondents demonstrate a clear understanding of the meaning and purpose of this assignment. While you are expected to use the informed consent form in keeping with ethical practices for data collection, you do not need to submit it to the instructor as part of the assignment.
Ask the respondents the following questions and record their answers:
When you hear the word diversity mentioned in the workplace, in the media, or in casual conversation, what meaning do you assign this term?
Does a particular race, ethnic group, or other minority group come to mind when you think of diversity? Does one of these groups pertain to you?
Do you think the majority of people in our culture:
Respect cultural differences among groups of people.
Show indifference to cultural differences.
Lack respect for cultural differences. Explain each choice.
If you were to make a suggestion about how our culture should handle diversity over the next decade, what would it be?
Compile your responses and write a brief reflection paper (two pages) on your findings. Specifically address the following issues:
What did you discover was the general attitude toward diversity in our culture?
Is diversity more associated with one race, ethnic, or other minority group than with others? If so, explain why this might be the case.
Compare and contrast the respondent's views with your own. How would you answer the same questions?

Understanding the Value of Qualitative ResearchAn important part.docxTakishaPeck109
Understanding the Value of Qualitative Research
An important part of both analyzing other’s research approaches and reflecting on your own includes understanding the positive and negative aspects of varied forms of social research and how they can influence a researcher’s stance and tone. While quantitative data can provide a general overview of the impacts of public policy and systems which manage society, qualitative data can provide specific and important information regarding the causes of this impact, such as the how, why, and who. Therefore, qualitative research can provide beneficial information to aid public policy in regards to social problems. This is especially important to know when public policy and systems create negative impacts, such as profiling, inequality, limited access, and social exclusion. It is also important to be able to recognize the stance or informed viewpoint of the researcher reporting on this information.
One of the more immersive forms of social research methods available is one of the qualitative methods: ethnography. Ethnography allows a researcher to experience the impacts through living amongst the citizens who have to engage with public policy and its systems in their daily lives. The most intriguing aspects of this type of research is how the researcher maintains an ethical and neutral stance during and after the process of research and how the experience can impact their stance or underlying tone.
In this assignment, you will present the benefits of ethnographical research in terms of informing public policy, as well as understanding the researcher’s role in performing and reporting on ethnographic research. You will do this through your own research of immersive ethnographical approaches (including the course text), and also through analyzing Dr. Alice Goffman’s work on inner city people of color in Philadelphia. You will be provided with reporting and reviews of her work to help fuel your own analysis of Dr. Goffman’s approach. This will help you become better at discerning what useful research is in order to appropriately inform decision-making in society.
In your paper, you must address the following:
Explain the researcher’s role in qualitative research. Discuss the unique issues that researchers should be concerned about in regards to their role in research, and explain how this is specifically a challenge in ethnographical research. Discuss specific actions researchers can take to ensure they retain their ethical and neutral stance in performing qualitative research and reporting their qualitative research results.
Regarding Alice Goffman’s recent ethnographical work in inner-city Philadelphia, and based on what you know from the text and your own research on ethnographic immersion, determine whether or not Goffman maintained an ethical and neutral stance, and provide justification of the approach Goffman chose to take. Based on what you have been able to ascertain from Goffman’s work, discuss th.

Under the common law, from the 1500's until today, the law has allowed past property owners to place limitations on the uses of real property in the future through the use of covenants (promises) as set forth in real property deeds as well as use of the fee defeasable estates (i.e. "To John Doe, so long as the property is used as a tobacco farm") and the evolution of zoning statutes and practice. Thomas Jefferson argued vehemently that no past owner of real property (dead or alive) should be allowed to restrict a future owner of real property concerning its present use; however, the Virginia State Legislature disagreed with him and land use limitation continues today. Jefferson described this practice as "Allowing the dead to control the lands of the living."
Was Jefferson right, or should we maintain the practice of allowing past property owners to place land use limitations in deeds of lands sold or gifted? Further, should the government be allowed to determine how a private property owner uses his/her respective land?

Here are the assignment details. There are two attachments: one includes what you see below plus a diagram of the building design and the template we are to use for the paper.
ASSIGNMENT SCENARIO:
You have been hired as part of the networking team at UMUC. After completing orientation and training in your first week, your manager calls you into a meeting to discuss your first project.
The university has recently leased a building in Adelphi, Maryland. The building will house some offices, classrooms, a library, and computer labs. Security is very important for UMUC, as the university must protect students’ and employees’ data, as well as any intellectual property that UMUC has on its servers and computers. As a result, IT management would like to take the time to review some proposals on how best to move forward. As a network engineer, you have been asked to prepare a network proposal on how to set up a secure network infrastructure in this new building to support university operations.
After speaking to your manager, you are excited about the project, but you realize you will have a busy schedule. As you write your proposal, you will also have to prepare for the Network+ Certification exam. One of the conditions of your employment at this company is that you obtain this certification within 60 days of being hired. You will have to manage your time wisely, because you will have to take a practice certification test just as you are completing your final project.
To get started, follow the steps below.
OVERVIEW
You will provide detailed network design proposal. Your task is to design the network for this new building with the following criteria:
·
Student-accessed computers should be on separate network from the staff-accessed computers. Computers for public use should be on a separate network.
·
There must be a minimum of 40 Mbps Internet connection, with a backup line capable of at least 20Mbps. Cable, DSL, or FIOS should not be used for primary Internet service.
·
The network should use physical cable, not wireless. But do provide wireless access in the Student Lobby area (second-floor hallway). Set the maximum simultaneous wireless users to 254.
·
The network has been assigned the 10.11.12.0/23 network address for all computers and devices
Your proposal should have three major sections:
1.
Physical Network Design
2.
Network Addressing
3.
Network Services Design

Nanotechnology these days turned into the most astounding
investigations created and functioning examination territories in
numerous fields including common, synthetic designing,
hardware, and medication, likewise in materials. In present-day
sciences, nanotechnology is considered as the following modern
upset which it might give more prospects to surpass our
assumptions in numerous fields. In media transmission
designing nanotechnology could give viable answers for power
proficient figuring, detecting, memory development, and
human-machine association. Nanotechnology in correspondence
frameworks additionally gives the capacity to makers to deliver
central processors and sensors that are extensively more modest,
quicker, more energy productive, and less expensive to make
than their present-day modules. In this paper, an outline of
numerous issues identified with nanotechnology in
correspondence frameworks are talked about, and furthermore

Introduction:
Internet, a global network, which connects people from one part
of the world to another in a nanosecond. In 1960’s, the internet
was invented for the communications between scientist and
military but now it is used by millions of people. Along with it,
many pros and cons came along. However, people use it more as
an advantage to invent new things and become successful to
take the world where it is now. Nanotechnology innovation is
the mixture of extreme developed technology and a
responsibility towards its making. Around two decades ago
nanotechnology began to reach its’ peak enlightening the
development of industrial sectors, technologies, environment,
medical sector, food, water and so on. It is one of the immense
fields where there are tremendous research-based project going
on to make the field even better.
The growing development in nanotechnology in the medicinal
field made it easier for the health workers to diagnose and
provide the right treatment fit for the patients. Alongside, the
development of nanotechnology was started to make the day-to-
day life easier for the public including their safety and
environmental conservation. The development of
nanotechnology brings ethical, legal and social issues with it.
Responsible Innovation:
Development of nanotechnology has immense impacts in the
world. Its progress has gone beyond any imagination and vast
compared to its previous development. A huge responsibility to
save the world in scarcity maybe one of its fundamen tal goal.
Thus, nanotechnology has made a great change in the
6. relationship between science, technology, and the mankind. In
the field of telecommunication and making it a great revolution
with communication technologies, nanotechnology plays a very
crucial role. Nanotechnology has impacted this industry in
numerous ways and contributed as an innovation of software,
applications, and other different mediums. With the research on
nanotechnology, it is believed that nanotechnology will be able
to locate, analyze and solve the problems to make our lives to
function more conveniently. The responsible development of
nanotechnology to benefit the society, environment always
requires the involvement of public, their knowledge and
acceptance towards the uprising innovation.
Wireless technology
The use of wireless technology is increasing drastically and the
utilization of nanotechnology in these wireless devices and
programs are high performance, lower power consumption,
compact sizes and advanced features. These technology makes a
great enhancement in the social life including both home and
office. Maximum usage of nanotechnology in these wireless
devices work in improving the surrounding as they could use as
sensors to measure things prior to what is going to happen, for
example, earthquake detector, smoke detector, motion sensors
and many more, The modern devices use high frequencies, high
data with effectiveness which requires nanotechnology to
function in an efficient way.
Nano communication and networks
As we know, nanotechnology takes a big place in nano
communication and networks. The increasing use of the mobile
led to the development of 5G wireless communication (which
uses nano antennas) to enhance the network coverage and the
wireless communication more efficiently. The correspondence
between Nanomachines occurs as in the customary
correspondence that implies the frameworks need to send a
message over a transporter to the collector and the data
conveyed ought to be encoded on the transmitter side and
decoded in the beneficiary. With the use of MIMO technology,
7. the components were able to be reduced to nano-size.
Problem of communication of nanotechnology to the public:
Nanotechnology started to reach it’s peak almost around 2000s’
and was recognized as the responsible development establishing
the Nanotechnology Innovation (NNI) done with the potential of
giving the outcome of a change in the society for good to make
the lives of the public easier. Even with the responsible
development of nanotechnology with the uprising developments,
scientists still feared of facing the failure in terms of public
acceptance. Public approach towards nanotechnology is
controlled by various factors such as media, ability to process
the change in the environment, cultural bias and so on.
Religious beliefs play a crucial role to provide a negative
impact to support nanotechnology. Another exposure to the
problem is the risks involved and impact of nanotechnology
towards the community. This factor changes the attitude of
public regarding the information which leads to provide
unstability to the innovation. Communication between
technology and public is very delicate matter.
Major solutions for the communication of nanotechnology to the
public:
Media management
The media plays an important role to influence the public about
the occasion of nanotechnology. In today’s world, media is
considered as huge influencer in changing people’s attitude
towards certain things. According to the research, public
judgement is based on the information provided by the media
and how it is represented. The media can increase awareness
among public to inform about the studies and ongoing research
on specific topic and how it can benefit the public. The
campaigns including the mass media can be a huge influence in
the public providing science programs on broadcasting
channels.
Strengthening policy and regulation
8. The examination of nanotechnology on the safety of the
products should be legally approved. The implication of
nanotechnology should be safe for the public use. Due to the
ongoing controversies on nanotechnology, the federal laws and
policies regarding the research should be implied more on use
allowing the public to know about the policies and regulations
which will reduce the exploitation and the risks related to the
problems. The support and knowledge of nanotechnology plays
a vital role in strengthening the regulations. Government must
ensure about the policies and guidelines to be effective for the
involvement of public.
Increase clarity and consistency in communication.
The nanotechnology should be socially accepted by the public
through the communication between consumers and the
scientists. The public should be aware about the steps involved
in the development and the drawbacks in the technology. This
will help the public to understand more about the use and
misuse of it. According to the research done in many countries,
public still lacks the knowledge of nanotechnology and its
principles. Public participation is very important to understand
the information and value of the technology. There still lies the
conflict towards the risk involving nanotechnology raising the
question of sustainability. To provide clarity and consistency in
communication, the scientific terms should be defined and
clearly explained to general public which provides them more
understanding of what they’re dealing with and what does it do.
Conclusion
Nanotechnology can add a greater number of correspondence
methods that can't be anticipated at present and may exceed
proportion creative mind since this innovation in the principal
period of examination, especially in the field of media
communications designing exploration. Nanotechnology has
become advanced since its origin in industrial, medical, food,
transportation and many more sectors. New nanotechnologies
are being developed which have an increasing impact on our
9. daily lives which modify our life for the better. The usage of
distant correspondence is rapidly growing and quickly
expanding. It has introduced very crucial platform for
communication and substantially impact its operation to meet
the highest expectations of the people. Like everything, nano
technologies also have cons and effects on the environment as
well as the health of the people. But with the communication
between the developers and public, the development will be
faster and in a safer way.
