Before establishing hill&partners I spent over 25 years
building effective multi discipline teams within
international branding agencies, working directly with
CEOs, Managing Partners, Heads of Creative, Strategy
and Client Services.
Having led and managed pitching and business
development planning, I’ve experienced both the highs
and lows of agency business. Knowing this, h&p has
created a service for business leaders of agencies to
help them and their teams gain more confidence
through greater rigour and sustained energy. This
service is business development consultancy and pitch
training.

As business leader you know new business is the life blood of your agency.
However, business development efforts fall between finding, winning and converting new work
depending on what your management team is focused on.
The business development cycle is time-consuming and energy-sapping for everyone involved. In short,
it isn’t sustainable and without a dedicated team, can lead to all sorts of problems for your agency and
your people.
h&p Sustainable Business Development is all about bringing rigour and energy to the task of converting
and cultivating work from existing and new clients. It means being self-aware; knowing your strengths
and weaknesses as an agency and as a team – and channelling your energy to make your strengths
become ‘super strengths’.
It’s also about a dedicated team with a business development plan to follow rigorously – a systematic
one where everyone knows their roles and responsibilities. This plan should also address the needs of
your client’s decision-making process and the various business agendas they are looking to satisfy.

We have lived and breathed business development for over 20 years with leading brand agencies and clients.
As a business leader, we believe you want someone who can get hands-on with solutions rather than just provide
recommendations.
Someone who can train your team on the job rather than provide text book theory.
Someone who can tailor a business development plan so your agency can own the plan independently…and sustainably.
To do this, h&p can provide hands-on help in three areas;
1. Assess your current business development performance - so that you are fully aware of your strengths and
weaknesses across existing client service development and new business processes
2. Develop a more sustainable business development plan - that you can follow rigorously and play to your
strengths
3. Work with and train your teams to implement and sustain the plan over time
These tasks are sequential and as a guide, it typically takes around 3 months to implement the plan effectively and see a
change in behaviours and outcomes. The speed of the results depends on the state of your current business
development activities. Either way, we’re here to make things happen!
