We held this workshop at the EPFL forum. Target was to introduce design thinking method to the students. It was a quite hands-on workshop, so the slide are of limited use.
ABOUT THE CLASS
This class, taught by SMU Advertising Lecturer Dev Gupta, will walk you through the design process for building better products. This class is for the non-designer, to understand the importance of creating great user experiences. Learn how to lead a design team to stay focused on the greater vision of your company through clear communication, business goals and ease of use.
THE TAKEAWAYS
To establish a clear understanding of the product value proposition before diving in to the design process.
To learn how to build a functional spec and business requirements through product roadmaps and wireframes.
To establish strategies for building out content strategy - both internal and external.
To discuss and demonstrate the importance of wireframing, user flow and prototyping before going into the actual visual design and development.
To walk away with a better understanding as to why better designed products succeed, and learn how to set the bar higher for your own product design.

This document outlines the process for evaluating the feasibility of a new idea, including technical feasibility, market opportunity, competition, customer validation, cost modeling, revenue modeling, scalability, financing needs, team capabilities, and pitching the idea. It provides examples of exercises to walk through each step, such as analyzing competitive solutions, identifying key features for customer feedback, and creating a 12-month cash flow statement. The overall process is meant to help founders methodically assess various factors to determine whether an idea is worth pursuing further.

Prevision(11) - Trading up e trading down: un nuovo lusso?Valentina Durante

Venduta da Sainsbury’s a 5 sterline, I’m not a plastic bag è esaurita a 8 minuti dall’apertura.

What is Bitcoin? How Bitcoin works in under 5 minutes.Ryan Shea
Bitcoin is imagined as a currency for a board game with tradable assets where players need a mutually agreeable way to track balances and trades. Each player is given a copy of a shared ledger recording everyone's token balances. When a trade occurs, the involved players update their ledgers and show others to update theirs, ensuring all copies stay in sync. With modifications like digital ledgers, unique account IDs, and cryptography, this system could function as a global digital currency and payment network controlled by no single entity where users transact directly without fees.

Lean Day West
Portland, OR
September 16, 2013
At Neo’s Lean Day West conference, Dane Peterson and I conducted a half-day workshop where we taught UX professionals how to achieve better, faster UX in the enterprise by using design systems, sketching, and prototyping techniques.
This document outlines an agenda for a workshop on design systems and rapid prototyping. It introduces Dane Petersen and Karel Barnoski, who work on design at GE. The workshop will include sketching an app concept, learning about design systems, and using a design system template to code a prototype. Participants will sketch a "Smart Home Manager" app, learn how GE uses design systems to standardize experiences across products, and code their sketch using the Industrial Internet Design System template.
When building a startup, designer needs prove to be at the same time indispensable, urgent, and often, a pain in the a**. From our experience of choosing between outsourcing and in-house designers and handling a designer teams on a daily basis, we came up with these advice to help you work in a creative and peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy!

The document provides an overview of different types of design that are relevant for startups. It discusses graphic design, which includes print design, user interface design, and user experience design. Print design involves designing posters, magazines, billboards, and focuses on typography, illustration, and printing processes. Interaction design involves designing digital products and software through user interface design, which focuses on usability, and user experience design, which incorporates various fields like psychology to create seamless interactions between users and products. Industrial design is also mentioned, which involves designing physical products for mass consumption while considering factors like production and how people interact with objects. The document aims to help startups understand different areas of design and how they can be applied.
From design specs to user stories (ProductCamp Boston 2016)ProductCamp Boston
More and more agile teams began to value good design, to the extend to actually hire in-house designers to be part of the team. However there is often an unspoken tension between the product manager and the designer: who get to define the user experience? An agile product manager is thinking in terms of user stories, which doesn't always align with the design specs. Vice versa. It eventually boils down to: How can design practices become an integral part of an agile team? Between PM and Design, there may be many disagreements on features and priority. But let's start with a common ground: solving the user pain. Eventually I stopped writing design specs, but to help the PM write better user stories. In this session I'd like to share practical lessons on Design/PM collaboration to bring the best out of both.
About Shanfan Huang
Drawing. Coding. Learning. Making. Exploring. Dancing. bio from Twitter
Shanfan Huang is a product designer at Pivotal Labs, an agile development consultancy that helps the clients transform their way of building software. She aspires to bring Lean UX practice into agile development teams.
The document discusses how a designer's decisions impact a project's architecture and maintainability. It emphasizes that designers and developers should cooperate, with the designer understanding how developers work and creating reusable components. This allows developers to easily reuse code for different views, making the application faster and easier to maintain. The document recommends designers create a style guide documenting conventions and common components to help developers understand the design vision.
Designers are from Venus - Presentationas Given to CD2Chad Udell
1. The presentation notes differences in how developers and designers work, such as developers focusing on tasks/milestones while designers iterate ideas, but argues neither stereotype is fully true.
2. It recommends standardizing processes, communication, and file organization to facilitate teamwork. Designers should consider usability and developers should value design.
3. Changing work habits could include designers learning development skills and developers taking on graphic design tasks occasionally to gain perspective. Teams should communicate closely and present a unified front to clients.
Thomas Christian Dehn provides an extensive portfolio that includes resume, design projects, game design, graphics, and PowerPoint presentations. Some of his design projects include a project management tool to improve workflow, an internal headset webshop to better guide product selection, and an idea validator prototype to assist entrepreneurs. His game design work includes jam session, a music band simulation, RoboCoop, a 2-player puzzle game, and The ONE Game, an experimental puzzle game focused on the theme of "one".
The document provides an overview of the author's extensive portfolio, including education, experience, skills, and interests. It summarizes several design projects they have worked on, including a project management tool, internal headset webshop, and an idea validation tool for entrepreneurs. It also outlines some game design work and experience with graphics, PowerPoint presentations, and teaching.
YOW! Perth 2022 - Reviving the Art of Software DesignAndy Marks
The document discusses reviving the art of software design. It notes that "less code" approaches led to less attention to design over time, as design skills were outsourced and larger codebases/tools made mastery more difficult. Startup mindsets also normalized breaking things quickly. The document proposes focusing on design by constraining technology options, rediscovering design classics, fixing culture to afford more design time, and verifying designs work as intended through practices like fitness functions. The goal is to make software "work, right, and fast" through improved design skills and attention.

Designing and developing products for multiple platformsDesignit
As part of our on-going collaboration with the Power BI product teams at Microsoft, our design director and partner Guy Haviv and our CTO Yoram Berkowicz gave a talk to a wide audience of user experience designers and developers at Microsoft ILDC on designing and developing cross-platform mobile experiences and best practices around development & design processes and collaboration.
This document discusses different aspects of the design process. It describes both the traditional engineering design (TED) process and concurrent engineering design (CED) process. The TED process is linear with individual designers passing the product between stages. The CED process uses a team approach where all members work together throughout ideation, refinement, and implementation phases accessing a shared computer database. CED allows for continuous improvements and overlaps the different stages, reducing project time and costs compared to the traditional sequential approach.

The document provides an overview of how to run a design sprint to develop experiences for wearable devices like Glass and Android Wear. It describes the 5 stages of a design sprint: understand, diverge, decide, prototype, and validate. In the understand stage, participants learn design principles, define a design challenge, and create user personas. In diverge, participants individually brainstorm ideas and then collaborate as a team. They map out ideas based on value and difficulty. The overall goal is to generate innovative ideas for the user personas within a short time-bound process.
The Design Sprints are a 2-5 days process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers.

We have implemented a solution for the OTC trade based on Ethereum and IPFS, covering the regulations of Mifid 2 and Finfrag. OTC is an abbreviation of Over-the-Counter (trading). It has always been an important pillar of activity for financial institutions. Bilateral OTC trading is attractive, because transactions can be kept more private than when trading via a market exchange (a central counterparty CPP), and there are less fees to be paid. We have set out to build a Blockchain-based Clearing and Settlement system that fixes the deficiencies of OTC trading, without scarifying the advantages. Blockchain technology is ideal to achieve this.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.
