The tiger’s story
Tigers live in rainforests, grasslands,
savannahs and even mangrove
swamps.
Tigers are really hard to find in the
wild. Their patterned fur is like
camouflage against the rainforest
and grasslands.
Tigers are the largest wild cats in
the world. Adults can weigh up to
363kg.
Tigers are carnivores, eating only meat.
They mainly feed on large mammals such
as deer, wild pigs, antelope and buffalo.
Parts of the tiger’s body
Tigers are solitary hunters, and
generally search for food alone at
night.
Unlike most members of the cat
family, tigers like water.
They are good swimmers and
often cool off in pools or streams.
In fact, at full speed they can reach
up to 65km/h!
There are 6 different types of tiger.
Hunting and habitat loss are the
biggest problems facing tigers.
Tigers are endangered animals.
Tigers can live up to 15-20 years in
the wild.
