Hello,
Please allow us to take a few minutes of your time, to
introduce you to our new business The Heirloom
Treasury.
The Heirloom Treasury is a treasure trove of the most
beautiful custom designed gifts and imported
stationary. We aim to produce gifts that people
would want to keep for a lifetime and pass on, as well
as items that allow the art of documenting one’s life
to stay alive.
It comprises of a retail store at 44 Stanley Avenue,
Joburg, and another side of the business that deals
directly with corporate organisations and events
companies, to design and produce exquisite,
high quality and fresh gifts for events, clients
and executives.
We have a wide range of items we have been making
and sourcing, with a lot more to come. We hope to
have a constant flow of products that change
regularly, so that the store and product list continue
to get more and more exciting.
But the most exciting aspect of our business is that
almost all our products can be personalised and
made to order!! So if you want your CEO, or client’s,
initials designed in a monogram, and stamped into
a leather journal cover, or engraved onto a pair
of silver cuff links or signet ring, we can do it!

The Heirloom Treasury is owned and run by:
Jan Bekker, a goldsmith by trade, is the Creative
Director at The Heirloom Treasury. He has owned and
run the jewellery store Sirkel Jewellery, in 44 Stanley
Avenue, for over ten years now and works in all
precious metals, and precious and semi-precious
stones, as well as many other materials. He is a highly
skilled craftsman and designer, who spends every
minute of his work day creating pieces that are true
works of art. Jan is a qualified goldsmith and
diamond setter as well as a self taught stone carver
and hand engraver.
Over the years, Jan has built up a long list of
extraordinary clients who are devoutly loyal to him
and his work. Some clients went from wearing no
jewellery at all to having ever growing collections of
20 or more pieces of his handcrafted jewellery.
Jan recently attended an international jewellery
trade show in Tokyo, Japan, where he was
commended by all who viewed his work, for his
exceptional craftsmanship. He is now working on
expanding his client base to include Japan and
Europe and has since been personally invited by the
organizers to take part in these international trade
shows on a more regular basis in future.
André de Waal, graphic designer extraordinaire!!!!
André has owned and run his own brand consultancy,
Trompe Le Monde, for over 9 years, and has been a
major player in numerous big rebranding campaigns.
Having been responsible for creating The Heirloom
Treasury’s beautiful logo, as well as many other
projects for us, Daniela and Jan couldn’t resist asking
him to come on board as a permanent and vital part
of the ownership team.
André started off his career as a photographer and,
through that, soon realised his true potential as a
designer. Some of the outstanding achievements André
has made for himself over the years include launching
Virgin Money and Virgin Mobile in South Africa, as well
as winning the first Loerie Design Award for Grid, South
Africa’s most revered and respected design agency. He
has worked for numerous acclaimed branding and
advertising agencies, including TBWA Gavin Reddy,
Grid (as Creative Director), Black River FC (as Head of
Design Department) and Code (as Executive Creative
Director). Some other popular brands that André has
worked on are: Investec, Nedbank, ICC World Cup
Cricket 2003, Anglo American, Sasol, Clover, Nando’s
and MTN (to name but a few!).
André is, as his talents would explain, the Design
Director, and in charge of all the graphic design
elements at The Heirloom Treasury.
Daniela Wingate is a woman of many talents, all of
which seem to revolve around people - making them
happy, developing them and building relationships
with them. She has worked in various roles over the
past 15 years, in the creative, hospitality and
corporate industries, her three most outstanding
employers being The Videolab Group (2001-2003),
Penguin Group (SA) (2003-2006) and Londolozi
Private Game Reserve (2006-2008).
Having started her own market research business in
2009 (Vula Vula Research Services), Daniela quickly
made a deep and lasting impression on the research
industry as a whole, due to her immensely honest
and determined approach to the projects she worked
on, and the relationships she built with her clients.

She consistently delivered the highest standard of
quality to the agencies she worked for, and her
business became a leader in the field of research
recruitment.
Daniela learned a huge amount about what being an
entrepreneur entails, through successfully running a
business on her own for over 5 years. However, more
and more she found it difficult to neglect her creative
needs, and thus decided eventually to move more
towards a more creative line of work.
Daniela sold her business in 2014 to a venture capital
organisation, and immediately began working on
developing The Heirloom Treasury with Jan. She was
(and is) determined to create a space where original
gift items that are not mass-produced and can be
truly personalised, are created and sold. And with
that, and Jan’s incessant desire to create exquisite
and new products that aren’t necessarily always
jewellery, The Heirloom Treasury was born. Daniela is
the Managing Director at The Heirloom Treasury.
