Criminal justice researchers depend primarily upon empirical data as the most useful tools with which to explore the nuances of the issues plaguing society. However, one can always ponder the usefulness of anecdotal data. In contemporary research, there has yet to be a consensus pertaining to the proper place and function of anecdotal data. Jacques (2014) discusses both quantitative and qualitative research methods. After reading the article and Chapter 1 in your primary text, respond fully to the following questions:

reality. Research begins with defining and describing what is already known about a subject.
This requires reviewing the literature and synthesizing the information generated by various
studies in the past.In scientific method, logic supports in preparing propositions clearly and
precisely so that their probable substitutes become clear. Further, logic develops the
consequences of such alternatives, and when these are compared with observable phenomena, it
becomes possible for the researcher or the scientist to state which alternative is most in harmony
with the observed facts. All this is done through experimentation and survey investigations
which constitute the integral parts of scientific method. The scientific research will have the following steps:-
1. Observe an event: - The first process in the scientific method involves the observation
of a phenomenon, event, or “problem.” The discovery of such a phenomenon may occur
due to an interest on the observers‟ part, a suggestion or assignment, or it may be an
annoyance that one wishes to resolve.
2. Develop a hypothesis: - Observation leads to a question that needs to be answered tohuman curiosity about the observation, such as why or how this event happened
or what it is like. In order to develop this question, observation may involve taking
measures to quantify it in order to better describe it. Scientific questions need to be
human curiosity about the observation, such as why or how this event happened

As you review the case that you have selected, reflect on the ethical principles discussed in “What Are the Major Ethical Issues in Conducting Research?” article found in this week’s Learning Resources. Which principles were breached in the case you have identified?
In the best-selling book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (Skloot, 2010), the author highlights the true story of an African-American woman who died in 1951 from cervical cancer. What makes her story unique is that prior to her death, cells from her tumor were removed and successfully grown in a petri dish. This was the first time scientists were able to successfully replicate cells outside the body, and it is estimated that billions of Lacks’ cells have been used in medical research. However, Henrietta Lacks was never asked for permission to take a sample and her family was never made aware of the widespread use of her cells. Although the culturing of her cells has been pivotal for advancing research, strong ethical concerns later arose about using these cells without patient or family approval.
This week’s readings describe historical examples of unethical research, such as a study of syphilis among African-American men in which treatment was withheld and a study in which live cancer cells were injected into elderly patients. Today, stricter controls that seek to protect study participants are placed on researchers, but breaches still occur. Careful attention must be given toward preventing unethical behavior. In this Discussion, you explore ethical considerations and issues in research.
Describe the case that you selected and the ethical issues involved.
Analyze the ethical principles that were breached by the researchers or organizations in your selected case as well as the possible cause of the breach(es). Suggest how the research might have been conducted differently to avoid or minimize the ethical problems. Discuss how research can be done on sensitive issues while still protecting the rights of the research subjects.

This paper presents some selected issues currently discussed about
the integrity of science, and it argues that there exist serious
challenges to integrity in the various sciences. Due to the involved
conceptual complexities, even core definitions of scientific integ-
rity have been disputed, and core cases of scientific misconduct
influenced the public discussion about them. It is claimed that
ethics and law may not always go well together in matters of
scientific integrity. Explanations of the causes of scientific
misconduct vary, and defining good scientific practices is not a
straightforward task. Even though the efficacy of ethics courses to
improve scientific integrity can be doubted, and universities
probably need to come up with more innovative formats to
improve ethics in scientific training, ethics talk may be the only
practical remedy.

Nowadays the integrity of science is seriously challenged. This is the claim defended in this article.
One needs to realize a number of basic things about such a claim at the start. First, it is not, and
cannot be, a factual statement, or objective statement if you like. It is essentially an evaluative
statement, resting on judgment, which, in the end, is always subjective. Whatever one would cite in
support of such a statement, or as disproof of it, fundamentally it all depends on how we interpret
and judge the evidence. Second, we need to explain what we mean by the terms used in the claim.
Even though many people behave as if these terms are self-explanatory, they may not really be so. In
fact, some of us may have observed that people use these terms sometimes differently, dependent on
whether they agree with the statement or not. So, we shall do this in the next few paragraphs. Third,

As you review the case that you have selected, reflect on the ethical principles discussed in “What Are the Major Ethical Issues in Conducting Research?” article found in this week’s Learning Resources. Which principles were breached in the case you have identified?
In the best-selling book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (Skloot, 2010), the author highlights the true story of an African-American woman who died in 1951 from cervical cancer. What makes her story unique is that prior to her death, cells from her tumor were removed and successfully grown in a petri dish. This was the first time scientists were able to successfully replicate cells outside the body, and it is estimated that billions of Lacks’ cells have been used in medical research. However, Henrietta Lacks was never asked for permission to take a sample and her family was never made aware of the widespread use of her cells. Although the culturing of her cells has been pivotal for advancing research, strong ethical concerns later arose about using these cells without patient or family approval.
This week’s readings describe historical examples of unethical research, such as a study of syphilis among African-American men in which treatment was withheld and a study in which live cancer cells were injected into elderly patients. Today, stricter controls that seek to protect study participants are placed on researchers, but breaches still occur. Careful attention must be given toward preventing unethical behavior. In this Discussion, you explore ethical considerations and issues in research.
Describe the case that you selected and the ethical issues involved.
Analyze the ethical principles that were breached by the researchers or organizations in your selected case as well as the possible cause of the breach(es). Suggest how the research might have been conducted differently to avoid or minimize the ethical problems. Discuss how research can be done on sensitive issues while still protecting the rights of the research subjects.

This paper presents some selected issues currently discussed about
the integrity of science, and it argues that there exist serious
challenges to integrity in the various sciences. Due to the involved
conceptual complexities, even core definitions of scientific integ-
rity have been disputed, and core cases of scientific misconduct
influenced the public discussion about them. It is claimed that
ethics and law may not always go well together in matters of
scientific integrity. Explanations of the causes of scientific
misconduct vary, and defining good scientific practices is not a
straightforward task. Even though the efficacy of ethics courses to
improve scientific integrity can be doubted, and universities
probably need to come up with more innovative formats to
improve ethics in scientific training, ethics talk may be the only
practical remedy.

Nowadays the integrity of science is seriously challenged. This is the claim defended in this article.
One needs to realize a number of basic things about such a claim at the start. First, it is not, and
cannot be, a factual statement, or objective statement if you like. It is essentially an evaluative
statement, resting on judgment, which, in the end, is always subjective. Whatever one would cite in
support of such a statement, or as disproof of it, fundamentally it all depends on how we interpret
and judge the evidence. Second, we need to explain what we mean by the terms used in the claim.
Even though many people behave as if these terms are self-explanatory, they may not really be so. In
fact, some of us may have observed that people use these terms sometimes differently, dependent on
whether they agree with the statement or not. So, we shall do this in the next few paragraphs. Third,

Overview
Healthcare professionals must have a strong working knowledge of ethics and law to be competent and successful. A qualified professional knows how to
provide safe, quality healthcare to a population of culturally diverse consumers. To address the needs of all patients, you can apply models such as shared
decision making, where patients are encouraged to share their preferences and needs. The application of this model requires that healthcare professionals know
how to apply ethical theories such as patient autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, justice, and fidelity when caring for patients. On a daily basis, healthcare
professionals face ethical dilemmas involving patients and colleagues. Understanding how to effectively apply the code of ethics in your field, and various other
codes of professional conduct, is an important skill required of all healthcare professionals. By applying ethical decision making, you positively impact the
delivery of safe, quality healthcare.
Under certain circumstances, healthcare professionals can be sued by patients for malpractice; it is more common for physicians to be sued when patients are
injured or die as a result of their medical care. Healthcare professionals need a clear understanding of the elements of medical malpractice (standard of care,
breach, causation, and damages) and how they are applied by a judge in a court of law. Healthcare professionals play a critical role due to the nature of their
relationship with both patients and physicians. To remain competent and grow in the field, healthcare professionals are expected to understand how their
professional responsibility includes a wide-ranging accountability to self, their profession, their patients, and the public.
Your final case study for this course will require you to analyze a court decision in which a physician was found liable for medical malpractice. You will focus on
facts pertaining to the medical standard of care, breach of care, and causation, and explain how they were applied to law. You will then use the facts of the case
to identify an ethics issue and determine an ethical theory that would help provide a safe, quality healthcare experience for the patient. Next, you will apply a
clinician–patient shared decision-making model to describe how the ethics issue could be resolved. You will also include a discussion about possible violations of
the code of ethics in your given field. Lastly, you will augment or vary the facts of the case to create a hypothetical scenario that changes the outcome so that
the physician is no longer liable for medical malpractice.
Final Project I is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final
submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three and Five. The final product will be submitted in Module Seven.

Not every employee needs the access to company's important documents. The less people that have access the better. Also, another way that I have seen to prove work is when you have more than one persons authorization needed to access something. When a worked at a company in order for me to access some stuff I would need my supervisor to override for me and if he wasn't available the system required that 2 employees used there logins including mine to be able to access whatever I needed and they could not leave my sight until I was done. Documents, laptops, cell phones, and storage devices such as usb and flash drives should be secured by being locked up in an office, safe, or cabinet. There should be a limited of employees with access to the key and information. Paper files with business or consumer information must be shredded and discarded. It is better to shred the paperwork in house. A company I had previously worked for used to hire a company to shred their paperwork for them. Everyone would pile the sensitive information into a large locked bin, then the 'shredders' would pick up the bins and dump the paperwork into their trucks for shredding. On one occasion, the person picking up the bins accidentally dropped it and the papers spilled out and blew across the parking lot! Of course, strong passwords are necessary to secure sensitive data as well as encrypting information, establishing firewalls, anti virus programs, and hiring IT personnel.
3: I can say it is very important that all business owners have a method to protect all their records to keep all their paperwork in a safe place. Especially nowadays, i cant speak on how everyone else should run their business, but i can say as far as me trying to become a business owner i will have separate copies of everything that goes on in my business and have it secured in a safe place, or my own personal computer, and etc. In todays world sometimes you cant even trust your own staff so when it comes down to certain customers files i will have them secured so that i am the only one who can view it especially since i plan on opening up a nursing home for the elderly. Their information needs to be kept in a safe place so that not everyone can view their charts.

The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
